Escape Vector pits you as Earth's finest pilot, on a mission to reclaim stolen technology. Forget thieving aliens, though: your greatest enemy is gravity, and the twisty caverns they've hidden our property in.

You'll have to carefully navigate each level, dodge and destroy alien defences and locate your prize...and that's the easy bit! Then you've got to fly back to the surface without crashing your ship or destroying our tech.

Do you think you've got the nerves, skill and determination to overcome the aliens AND the laws of physics? Good luck, Commander.

1. Any tips for controlling my ship?

The most important thing to remember is that your ship has momentum. Once you thrust in a direction, you will keep moving in that direction. In order to stop, you will have to thrust in a direction opposite to your current trajectory.

Don't directly face the way you want to travel. Stay upright and thrust just enough to counteract gravity. If you want to descend, thrust less. If you want to go sideways, turn your ship very slightly and carry on thrusting as normal. When you want to stop moving sideways, carry on thrusting, but turn your ship back to the vertical, then slightly the other way to counteract your horizontal momentum.

The tutorial level is a useful place to get used to controlling your ship, without too much fear of blowing up. Also, don't forget you can activate your shield by holding either 'Space' or 'Shift', which will protect your ship in the event of a collision.

2. How do I pick up containers?

The short answer is simply to land close to them. Your ship's tether will automatically connect to any container you've landed close enough to.

Keep your ship upright and let yourself fall slowly towards the ground, thrusting gently to keep your speed low. Counteract any sideways movement by turning slightly in the opposite direction. As you near the ground, double-check that you're straight, then let yourself land.

When taking off again, do so with confidence and purpose. Once a container has left the ground, it will explode if it touches the ground again or any other obstacle.

<aname="faqs_q3">

3. How can I stop containers from swinging out of control?

To stop the container swinging, wait for it to be at one side of its swing where it isn't moving, then thrust until your ship is directly above it. It should then stay where it is, giving you a chance to regain control.

If you can see the container is about to swing and hit a wall, immediately thrust hard in the opposite direction. The container will swing, but you will be pulling against the swing, so it should not hit the wall. You may need to keep thrusting back and forth in this way a few times before you can completely stop the container from swinging.

The safe part of the mothership's practice area (in the tutorial) is a good place to play with a container, but stay away from the walls, as your shield only protects your ship.

<aname="faqs_q4">

4. Why did I automatically receive the Belter Award (Normal), Moon Runner (Normal), Moon Raker (Normal), or Hero of Earth (Normal) Achievements?

If you previously held the Belter Award, Moon Runner, Moon Raker, or Hero of Earth Achievements, you are automatically awarded the Normal versions. If you are able to get these Achievements while playing on Hard mode, then you are definitely good enough to have obtained the Achievements on Normal mode.

128 MB RAM

The recommended specifications for getting the most out of this game are:

1.5 GHz

256 MB RAM

Below is an explanation of the terms in our technical specifications.

Megahertz (MHz) / Gigahertz (GHz) is a measure of how fast your computer's processor is. This affects how quickly you can run things like games and applications.

Megabytes (MB) are used to measure how much memory your computer has. This affects how quickly your computer runs when using large programs such as games, or when you run a lot of programs at once.
