Blessed Symbols
Making symbols requires use of the Crafting Skill.
The final step in the making of symbols is usually to have the symbol blessed, which you can do by visiting either Brother Jered (holy symbol), or the Spirit of Scorpius (unholy symbol). You will then get the full effect of your symbol (as detailed below) while you are wearing it.

The Books of Prayer
When you have completed the Horror from the Deep, you will be given a damaged book by the lighthouse keeper, Jossik. If wielded in your shield hand it will increase your Prayer bonus.
To fill the book, you will need to replace the missing pages with a torn page specific to your damaged book. You will have an incomplete Prayer book until you replace all the missing pages, four in total.
You can acquire torn pages by completing Treasure Trails or by buying them from adventurers who have gained them as a reward from the Treasure Trails. Each page is numbered 1 to 4 and you will need one of each page to make a complete Prayer book. In addition, each page will be a certain colour (white for Saradomin, green for Guthix and red for Zamorak) and you will need to ensure that all pages are for the correct Prayer book if you want to be able to make your damaged book whole. Incomplete Prayer books only give a Prayer bonus, complete ones give various stat bonuses.
Once you have completed your first Prayer Book you will be able to aquire the others by visiting Jossik again, he will sell you any of the books you don't have for 5000 gold pieces each.
Note: Once you have chosen your book you can not change it.
When fully restored, the Prayer books will allow you to preach from them. Only complete books will allow you to bless holy symbols.
While equipped in your shield hand, you will also gain certain benefits from the Prayer book (with regard to your Attack and Defence), which are as follows:
