1. I cannot see anyone's chat.

Check that you haven't accidentally changed the in-game options so that nothing anyone says is displayed in the chat window. This could be because you have both your public and private chat set to 'Off'. These can be toggled from the bottom of the game window.

2. I'm trying to log in, but it says my username is already in use.

There are three things that can cause this:

1. If you were playing a few minutes ago and didn't log out properly, or lost connection, your account may still be connected to the server. After a short while you will be logged out automatically, so wait a few minutes and try again. Always remember to log out using the log-out button, as closing RuneScape down by another method can leave your character open to being attacked and killed while you are not in control.
   
   
2. You will occasionally see this message when we are updating the game. Load the game, and choose 'world select'. If one or more of the servers are showing "OFFLINE" then that is probably the reason. Just wait a few minutes for us to finish the upgrade and then log in as normal.
   
   
3. If the servers seem to be working normally for everyone else and you still cannot log in after waiting several minutes, someone may know your password and be using your account. For more information about recovering your account please click here.

3. When the windows client loads, I get a page saying 'Page cannot be displayed'.

This is most likely due to a personal firewall which is blocking the Windows Client from accessing the Internet. You will have to allow the program "runescape.exe" access to the Internet in order for it to work. If you do not know how to do this then please contact the administrator or owner of the machine to do this for you.


4. When the windows client loads, the scrollbar is missing.

This is because you are running an old version of Internet Explorer. You should visit Windows Update to download the latest version.
