Today hordes of people will be celebrating the norwegian constitution day, commonly called simply 17. mai - "syttende mai/søttende mai".

Bands, students, the royal guard, kids as well as adults will walk in parades waving flags and banners, yelling "hurra!" (hurray), and making noise.

They will feast, play games and competitions outdoors, host shows, concerts, plays, speeches and general entertainment.
People will dress in their finest, many will also wear the traditional outfit "Bunad".

17. mai is even celebrated in some places abroad, most commonly in America where many have norwegian roots and norwegian relatives.

This is a grand day of celebration, as it is every year.
