Lumbridge Catacombs

Warning

This area guide contains spoilers for the plot of The Blood Pact. If you haven’t finished the quest and don’t want to find out what happens, stop here!

Introduction

Laying the dead to rest.
The Lumbridge Catacombs are a sprawling network of tombs and crypts accessible via Lumbridge Graveyard. They are the resting place of the necromancer Dragith Nurn. Penitent for his innumerable transgressions against nature and aware that he too was doomed to rise from the grave upon his death, he buried himself alive with his creations.

The Lumbridge Catacombs lay undisturbed for decades, but were uncovered by three Zamorakian cultists whose dark ritual breached the seal and opened the catacombs once more. The dungeon teems with the undead; the product of Dragith Nurn’s evil sorcery. Those wishing to test their mettle against the restless dead may delve deep into the bowels of the catacombs in search of forgotten riches and may even encounter the risen necromancer himself!

Location

Lumbridge Catacombs entrance.
Players who have completed The Blood Pact may access the Lumbridge Catacombs via the entrance in Lumbridge Graveyard. The stairs used to access the main section of the catacombs are found where the altar was destroyed at the quest’s conclusion. In addition, a shortcut to the altar room will open just inside the surface entrance once the quest is complete.

Points of Interest

Deep within the catacombs.
Starting from the northern stairs, the catacombs are a twisting network of tombs and crypts filled with progressively stronger monsters.

As you proceed, you may notice stone plinths dotted about the area. These may have jewelled statuettes upon them which are worth a bounty of gold coins when handed to Xenia, for whom they are nostaligic remembrances of early exploits.

In the southernmost chamber, you will meet the most powerful entity in the dungeon; the risen corpse of Dragith Nurn himself. He fights with all three combat styles, so beginners should take care when facing him.

Personalities

Xenia
[image]
Xenia waits outside the Lumbridge Catacombs to advise and assist those who wish to explore the tombs. She will replace any lost items from The Blood Pact and will pay handsomely for the jewelled statuettes that can be found in the Catacombs.
Xenia can be found in the Lumbridge Graveyard, just outside the entrance to the catacombs.

Quests

The dungeon opens once The Blood Pact is completed, but it is not involved in any further quests.

Monsters of the Catacombs

Warped Cockroach (Level 1)
These monstrously large insects have been augmented by dark magic and can survive nearly anywhere. They’re like ... well ... cockroaches.
Corpse spider (Level 3)
In an area saturated by evil magic, disintegrated corpse matter can sometimes mould itself into shapes defined by the nightmares of the living. These spiders are a common sight in the catacombs.
Warped fly (Level 5)
These flies grew fat on the entropic flesh of the walking dead and have now been swollen to an unnatural size by latent magic. They are always hungry, and will attack the living if provoked.
Crawling corpse torso (Level 7)
At the height of his depravity, Dragith Nurn found amusement in re-animating partially decayed corpses and watching them scrabble weakly on the ground. Long forgotten, they keen piteously and yearn for release.
Warped rat (Level 9)
Generations of rats have lived and died within the catacombs. Over the years, the ambient magic of the area has mutated them, twisting their forms and increasing their size. They are dependent upon it, however, and cannot venture far from their home.
Skeleton (Level 11)
The remains of long-dead citizens of Lumbridge. They have only the most rudimentary cognitive functions, and most have no idea where they are. If provoked, they may lash out against interlopers.
Warped bat (Level 12)
These aviatory mammals, although usually shy, have become large and aggressive from prolonged exposure to Dragith Nurn’s malevolent sorcery. They will attack humans in the absence of smaller prey.
Corpse archer (Level 13)
The ambulatory cadavers of slain bowmen. These creatures retain some residual memory of their former occupation and may fire upon intruders. They are frail, however, and are easily dispatched by a sturdy adventurer.
Skoblin (Level 14)
Dragith Nurn also experimented on the remains of non-humans. Simple, instinctive creatures in life, these skoblins retain more of their combat effectiveness than skeletal humans do.
Corpse mage (Level 15)
Magic still permeates the remains of these undead wizards. The act of spell-casting temporarily relieves the pain of unlife and any shred of sanity left in their once-sharp minds has long gone. They are among the most dangerous inhabitants of the catacombs.
Dragith Nurn (Level 20)
Although penitent at the end of his life, Dragith Nurn’s damnation twisted his soul into an inhuman manifestation of malice and cold fury. Those able to battle their way past the swarms of undead can face Dragith Nurn in the final chamber of the catacombs. It is said that he was interred with an enchanted burial mask, which could be remade if all the parts were found.
