Jagex Moderator Impersonated?

Today, I was in the fight pits.

Then... someone private messaged me, saying he was the staff moderator of Tetra Link.

He told me JaGex has been monitoring me and asked if I wanted to be a Player moderator. Then he asked me a few questions and gave me URL and a ID. He told me to go to the URL.

Then I began thinking... this website doesn't say "Jagex Limited (GB)" in the URL. So I tested it out with one of my level 3 accounts and it asked me for a bank pin, ********, etc.

I think it's a fake. What do you guys think?

Please do not lock it without a reason, it is urgent.

Its definitely a scammer.Jagex mods never contact you ingame, only through your inbox. For security reasons I would change my pass word and scan my computer...

Also if you still have the URL written down report it here 103-104-12-58898735

Aha, and I should also report the player for impersonating a JaGex Moderator?

Thank you for the response.

You should report the player immediately for Jagex Staff Impersonation. Jagex will never contact you in-game when they are trying to invite you to join the Moderator team. They will do so through the Message Centre.

Also, since you visited the website, scan your computer first. Then, change your account details. This is to make sure a keylogger wasn't installed on your computer. ;)

Yes you should..Im afraid its too late now but if you are contacted again then report this player. Also a surefire way to tell if it is really a Jagex Moderator or not is if they have a gold crown next to their username

Tetra Link's a FunORB game. :D

Yes this is 100% a scam. Jagex have said several times:

1. Only enter your RuneScape username and pass.word on RuneScape and FunORB.

2. They won't contact you in-game.

3. They will NEVER ask for your account information.

Next time someone does this, report them for either Staff Impersonation or Pass.word Scamming.

Player Moderator invites are ALWAYS sent as inbox messages.

The only way you can "apply" to be a Player Moderator is on the forums:
Contact Us -> Are you Community Focused?

If people contact you with things like this its best to report them under staff impersonation. Its probably worth waiting until they give you the link before you report, that way Jagex get the link as well ;)

Never EVER follow the link they give you. It could get malicious software onto your PC.

Hopefully since it asks you for the details, it won't have installed any nasties. Still worth running a scan to make sure though ^_^

I just got the same scam, They say they've noticed my account, Offer me a mod application, ask me 3 questions, tell me to write down an app id and a ref id, tell me to go to the id link, which asks you to enter your username and ********, i asked how i was to know this was safe, they say all this player safety nonsense, and then i noticed at the bottom of the webpage, it says hosted by (some free website hosting site) and told them i wasn't going to trust it and they should delete me, i then reported and now i'm going to report the website.

I have some questions now. What do i do to make sure i don't get hacked? I visited the website, i have no idea what could have happened from that. I have no AntiVirus on my computer or anything.

I was going to put a PIN on my bank but wait 7 days? Nty. I'll have been hacked by then >_<

I'm scared of logging out. :(

Yeah, the person who tried scamming me did it to me, gave me a Reference ID and at the bottom of the page it said all these strange links.
