this thread shows everything i know about stun, it shows; facts, costs, time, etc. i made this guide on the thread of a friend, one month ago, because he asked me to prove that magic isn't expensive or slow at all. i decided to make a thread about it to help everyone who is looking for some info about stun. ;)
NOTE: THIS IS A SUBGUIDE RELATED TO MY 1-99 MAGIC GUIDE.

=======================STUN=======================

i'm going to show you some facts and info about stun and i will also compare it with other ways of training magic.

NOTE: this post is about stun WITH sc armour (you can do it without the armour but that will cost much more and it's even a little slower)!

required level: 80
xp for each cast with sc armour: 180xp!
stun casts 80-99: 61380 casts
cost of one cast(current medium price; 15-may-2010): 160 gp
cost 80-99: 9820800 gp or 9.8m
1 sc armour piece lasts for 272 casts, that's a good 48960 xp!
sc armour needed 80-99: 261
The cast time for Stun is 3 seconds, as it is technically a combat spell.


now, this may seem a lot; getting 261 hats �nd doing 61k casts. well, it's not. But this will keep you busy for a month that's for sure, but i'd rather do a way with variation, less "clicks" and one that's actually much cheaper too!

now you can gather 3-4 sc hats if you're playing in a non-combat sc clan. so let's say that you're busy for 65-75h and you're done getting the sc hats/points. always keep your sc armour, don't drop it, but *recharge* it!

i.e. 1 hat is 24 points, bottom is 26 points and top is 28 points, recharging for *any* armour piece is only 20 points! so i think you understand wat i'm trying to tell you.

now, i also want to prove how fast stun is:
take 2:30h for getting/recharging the sc armour + another 2:30 for the stun casts; this will give you 500k xp in 5 hours or just 100k xp/h.

WAT I DID: i always played 10 games a day, that's good for 230-240 points and i trained magic till every hat was out of charges. that gives you a good 500-600k xp a day.

FOR STARTERS: i highly recommend getting 1 sc top, 1-2 sc bottoms and 8-10 sc hats FIRST! once you've done this, you're good to go. sell your magic armour if it's something like dragon'hai robes or mystic! why; sc armour has the same stats as the armours mentioned and you get some money for the runes too.

a stun cast requires 1 soul rune, 12 earth and water runes. you only pay for the soul runes if you buy a mud staff! so do that, it will save you 100,540,440 gp or 100.5m!!!! and the price of mud staff is only around 500k! (you can always sell it after 99 magic)

ALCHEMY: this spell is a money drain, slow and boring once you reach level 80! alchemy WAS a good way of training magic in the old days, BUT today it's just a waste of time ONCE you reach level 80.
NOTE: i'm not saying that alchemy is bad for people with levels between 55-80!

cost 80-99: +20m! (stun is only 9.8m)
casts needed 80-99: 169,975! (that's like 108k casts more!!)
that will take MORE than a month!

I knew a friend who wasted his whole summer training magic with alchemy! another friend claimed that stunning can't be much better than alchemy, he wasted his time training in zanaris, alching rings (you can't do that anymore). so yes, he wasted months getting ONLY 92 magic! in the end he wanted to give up and i told him that i knew someone (pip) who tested stun for me, he was impressed and 2 weeks later he reached 99!

NOTE: alchemy is usefull for slayer to alch the dropped items and save inventory place for MORE food.

PLANK MAKE: this is for rich people who don't wish to waste much time getting 99 magic. this skill makes an awfull sound and it's very boring (i heard).

required level: 86
cost 86-99: +23m!
time 86-99: 48h!!!

i'm not going to say so much about this spell, it's very good for RICH people.

i used to play sc a lot so i saved 1.4k points till last sunday. i was level 96 magic and it was 3.3m xp till 99. i came home sunday evening and i stunned 500k xp, monday i stunned 1.2m * and on tuesday i stunned 1650k xp or 1.6m xp!!

that's GREAT isn't it?!

on this post, i will add everything new to the guide that i seemed to forgot to mention.

=================== STUN LOCATIONS ===================

there are only a few places where you can train stun in runescape because stun is supposed to be a spell you can only use on a NPC/player once if the stun hits them whithout "splatting". those places are:

zombies north of the edgeville border.

dummies in lumbridge (only for lower levels so i doubt it works for most of you).

zombies in the magic guild's basement.

balance elemental in your house. i used this one because none can steal your target and because you can always tele to it (at least 37 construction required).

a great place to stun is in fight caves. Just get to wave 3 use a safe spot. This will guarantee that no one would mess with you and will have no randoms to distract you! But could get a bit lonely at time... so join a cc. (credit to Lebron To NY)

there are more places but i just gave you the most important ones. ;)



=================== HANDY TIPS ===================

always get your spellbook menu as close to the target as possbile, show only tele spells and combat spells (stun is a combat spell).

turn your "accept aid" off, some people want your target so they will teleother you and that slows you down too.

always have a games necklace in your inventory to teleport to the wilderness volcano to go to sc.

you need a sc clan to get 4 hats/h so i decided to sum all the sc clans i know. i know there are more sc clans but i think this will do. ;)


1 elites sc (small maps).

1fastsc (a well known sc clan)

sc claymates (on vacation now, but they will be back in a not so far future.).

Clay Gods - NEW claymates, very small maps!

Good guide,but 1 think is untrue...and that is that alching is dead....it's very possible(and i do it) to alch and stun at the same time,normal stunning gets me about 200k xp an hour,but stunning+alchnig gets me 270k+ an hour...

i've never heard of such a thing, but it would be great indeed. but one of the main reasons why i prefer stun is because stun is cheap and fast, alchemy would rise the price with idk how much.

mind showing me how you do it? :)

but the main aim is speed ofcourse so i will check and try that maybe.

as for 'alchemy is dead" i never said that, but i just hate alchemy just like most people. alchemy 55-99 magic is something of the past but i still support alchemy for 55-80 magic. alchemy is also usefull for slaying/combat to save inventory space.

the reason why most people get 99 magic with alchemy is because they don't look for other, better ways and i'm trying to change that as much as i can. but you're still free to choose for alchemy if you want, i won't stop you. :P
