 Information on how to get a Sextant, Watch, and Chart!

You need to have a Sextant, Watch, and Chart in your inventory for coordinates clue scrolls. Without these items, you will not be able to complete your coordinates clue scroll. You will also need a spade and the clue scroll itself when you try to dig in the right location.

==============
How to get these items:
==============

 Go and talk to the Professor in the house, north of Observatory (north of Castle Wars). Make sure you have a Coordinates clue scroll in your inventory, and examine it before talking to the Professor. Talk to him about Treasure Trail and he will tell you to go get your navigation tools.

* Once you have talked to the Professor, head to Clocktower, which is located southwest of Ardougne Zoo. There, talk to Brother K*jo to obtain your Watch.

 Head to Port Khazard docks, which is located southeast of Ardougne, and talk to Murphy to obtain your Sextant.

 Once you have a Sextant and Watch in your inventory, go back to the Professor in the house, north of Observatory to obtain your Chart from him.

===========
Additional Tips
===========

 You do not need to start the Observatory quest in order to get your navigation tools (sextant, watch, and chart).

 You do not need to start the Clocktower quest in order to obtain your Watch from Brother K*jo.

 If you ever lose your sextant, watch, and chart simply go back to Brother K*jo for Watch, and Murphy for Sextant. You need to have a coordinates clue scroll in order to get your replacement chart from the Professor, though. Coordinates clue scroll is not required to get replacement Sextant, and Watch .

 You can even make a Sextant, and Watch if you have 28 crafting and a workshop in your house. Keep in mind that you can only make Sextant, and Watch in your house if you have had them before.

Thanks to Slipjay and Death Dude74 for the information in this and following posts.

Using the Sextant
===========

To use the sextant, you need it, the chart, and the watch in your inventory. Click on the sextant and it will bring up a box.

Use the arrows on the right side of that box to move the horizon into the middle. The horizon is the line that goes across the middle from left to right, where the sky and earth meet. Use the arrows under the device to move the sun to the middle of the horizon. When the horizon and the sun are directly lined up in the middle, click 'Find Location.' The coordinates of the spot you are standing on will then appear in your chat box.

The observatory is 0 Degrees north/south, 0 Degrees east/west. To find the location of your clue coordinates, you must move north, south, east or west from the observatory as the clue tells you. Keep checking the sextant until you are in the correct spot. It must be exact. Once you are on the right spot, you must dig using your spade. Remember, you must have your sextant, watch, chart, and clue scroll in your inventory to be able to dig up the treasure.

Be warned that if you have a level three clue scroll, a Saradomin mage may appear who attacks with both magic and a DDS. In the wilderness a Zamorak mage may appear, who uses only magic.

Coordinates will always direct you to dry land, never into the ocean, though you may have to go over bodies of water. To help find the correct location, you can use the world map. You can access the world map while playing RuneScape by clicking on the globe near your minimap.
