Hello and welcome to the 11th thread of the Tree Hunters.

This clan has the wonderful members and ranks to thank. The guide on this thread was made possible by the hard work and determination of all you. Thank you!

Tree Hunters is a community chat based on helping each other find and hunt Evil Trees while also having a good time. We are the original tree hunting clan and plan on staying here for quite a while. Before you join us I ask that all of you take a look at our rules. They have been put into place for your own benefit. I also ask that you respect all members and keep arguing to a minimum.

Let me introduce myself as Myrezal. I am a General in Tree Hunters and wish to make your stay here the best it can be. Our leader is Zor 95, but feel free to come to me with any questions if he isnt on. There are many wonderful people who have helped to make this clan what it is, so feel free to ask them too. Thank you! I hope you enjoy your stay!

| Tree Hunters |

The ground rocks and shakes, emitting a sound of breaking rock, rubble, and terror. Cracking ground. Ghostly fright. Terror of hell unleashed. A very inhuman chill fills the air, causing shrieks and screams all around. Abruptly, from oblivion shoots a creature- a tentacle?- and trashes about to grab a victim to capture into its hellish clutches forever. They strain, ever so cunningly, determined , ever so determined, to conquer our world.

You jump, only moments saved from being pulled under and erased wholly from the world of the living as you know it. What is this terror? What has arisen from its monstrous sleep? The nightmare is a tree of evil, and we are the terminators.

For every monster, there is a hero; a savior. Evil Trees. The threat bestowed upon us is here, and we are the protectors of humanity. Of the world. We are the guardians some say, while others title us masterminds. A most curious one, but appropriate to name our profession. These trees of evil are so devious and never learn. It seems they are around until the end of days. If they are, so shall we. Tree Hunters. We are here to emit the doom of their demise.

This new threat erupts from a put of darkness that no one knows. They watch us. They wait. They know when and where to strike best. When they see an opening, they take it. But when these monsters try, we retaliate. We strike back.

We come from different lands- of rich culture and knowledge. Masters of all skills. Followers of light. Of darkness. All have come together in order to rid the worlds of this threat, bound together by eternal friendship and heart. Our weaknesses are few, for our bounds are tied tightly.

What have we accomplished? Knowledge. Confidence. Our clan- our fellowship- has conceived knowledge from the deepest part of logic. Educated and destroy.

We are the educators and the destruction-mongers of this threat. We are here. We are staying. We are the Tree Hunters.

| Evil Trees |

Strange things are afoot in the woods around RuneScape. An unusual sapling has been seen sprouting among the trees, and it's growing at an alarming rate. Aided by a familiar-looking farmer, you could help encourage this burgeoning seedling - but keep an axe and tinderbox handy because it could become...an evil tree!

Evil trees can appear in one of 26 forest locations; just keep an eye out for leprechauns and thrashing roots (which might try to grab you). If you have completed the Tree Gnome Village quest, spirit trees will offer you directions, clues and teleports.

The first stage of an evil tree's growth is as a sapling (which is entirely unsurprising: it may well be wicked and vicious, but it is still a tree). During this time, the leprechaun will merrily wander about asking passing adventurers to help nurture it. Anyone with the required Farming level can nurture the sapling without any tools simply by clicking on it.

There are five growth stages before the sapling expresses its true nature, at which point you should discover that its thrashing roots prevent you from directly harming the tree itself. In order to get access to the tree, you will need to use an axe to hack the roots away. When the tree is denuded of some of its roots, you can set fires or use your axe to hack into its bark.

You can interact with the evil tree twice a day and they spawn once every two hours.

Kindling (obtained while cutting)

You do not need all three of the required levels to attack a tree. The actual tree requires woodcutting, burning requires firemaking, and nurturing requires farming.

| Finding a World |

If you are using these trees for training then you will want to find them yourself and not just wait for one to pop up. The method most use is called scouting. It involves hopping from world to world and checking each spirit tree for information on when the sapling will sprout. If using a clan (such as Tree Hunters) you should also report it to them.

Now the above method is a good one, but to be as efficient as possible you will also want to record the current time and how long until the spawn on that world. You can use paper and pencil for this or a word document on your computer. For an example of listing look through the last few pages of this thread.

Finally, if you dont feel like making a list you can calculate a few individual worlds just by measuring time. For example, if you find a world that says over an hour then you would know it could be 60-120 minutes until it sprouts. If you dont mind missing it you could check again 100 minutes later, or to be on the safe side 45 minutes later. If you spot a change in time just as it happens (e.g. Over half an hour to under half an hour) then you will know exactly when to check.

For a complete list of times please check the last post of the next page.

| How to Report |

For those newer clan members here is a quick guide on how to report a tree. There really is no *right* format for reporting, but there is one way that we prefer.

The most important part of a report is the world. You should report every world you check, not just saplings and Evil Trees. It would look something like

W100 over an hour

Or

W100 less than 15

-

When reporting a sapling you should also include the given hint (see posts 2-3 on the next page) and if possible the location and type. To find the type of a sapling you must nurture it and calculate how much farming Xp you get from a single stage (see post 1 on the next page). These would look like

W100 sapling close to a rc altar

Or

W100 yew sapling near the body altar

-

Now when you have a fully grown tree you will want to report the world, type, location, and health in that order. If a certain piece of information is unknown just let us know.

Example: W100/yew/body altar/100%

It would be helpful to report every 10% health or so then as the health drops every 25%. It is also important to report the tree as soon as it dies so listers can record that and previous reports will not be mistaken as false.
