~Vinesweeper Upgrade Suggestion / Improvements V2.0~

I'm going to make this short and simple on my stand.

-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
All I have to say now is, Jagex team, could you add Random Events to Vinesweeper as an exception for minigames, to allow randoms to occur?
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-

Randoms cannot occur in Vinesweeper, and it's a minigame that's not very interactive, nothing will be changed, hence... too in depth.(Sorry people)

Reason: There are evidence that multiple Macros are spotted there daily in vinesweeper theme worlds especially world 78! Even other Vinesweeper masters know, we have no way to stop them, besides digging up mines before they flag it. It's really ruining the fun of this game, and it's really against honour.

Please please please do an investigation regarding this serious issue!

I DO NOT wish to go to this topic in depth, as it may cause misunderstandings.

Thanks.

1.1- Game Improvements to anti-macro / Beautify
~~Why not keep all the numbers in a same colour?

~~Change the colour at a specific interval. (Lets say, every 30 minutes)

Or, numbers switch colours?
Example: 1 switches to green, 2 switches to yellow.
(however, this may confuse players)
OR, Complete Random Colours!

Reason: I have to agree, the spinning digits is a really great idea! However, they can still spin a little faster, in my opinion. I suppose, only human beings can read that while its spinning, dishonest macros shouldn't.

It beautifies the Vinesweeper field as it gets unearthed as well! :D

Colour of the numbers in Vinesweeper game don't really matter, even if a player is suffering from total colour blindness, he/she will still be able to identify the number.

I feel that these suggestions will not worsen, may not enhance the vinesweeper experience as well. It will be a good way to anti-macro however.

2.1 - Current Issues

2.11 - Bugs & Glitches
Vinesweeper fields get glitched at times, especially when theres plenty of players, players have to manually reset them in this case, by digging all surrounding patches near the glitch, till the gnome farmer comes.

If a "patch debugging mechanism" could be added to this game, it will prevent such problems. :)

2.12 - Flags disappearing during resets
This may happen several times if there are farmers collecting dead potatoes/potatoes around nearby patches. If this problem is solved, it will help a lot especially vinesweeping in crowded areas.

2.13 - Rabbit issues
Rabbits "eating" potatoes & flags even if they are 3-5 squares away from the flag itself! This problem should be fixed, as it isn't logical that rabbits could eat things out of their reach. :P

2.14 - Slow and unresponsive farmers
At times, farmers do not collect flags. Instead, they idle around and scratch their head. Resulting in a higher chance of having a flag to be eaten by a rabbit.

2.15 - Problem encountered by the current Farming system
Patches planted within the same growth period may not be harvested at the same time due to diseases.
Hence, players have to teleport around several times to see if the patch is fully grown. Less teleportation needed as well. (Very useful for avid farmers)

3.1 - Suggestions/Improvements

3.11 - Vinesweeper Hiscores
-
Compare your Vinesweeping ability with your friends and other players! :) Computed using total amount of points earned.

3.2 - The Rewards

Rewards could be improved as well.
I feel that the following seeds should be added to the reward shop:

Organised Rewards in tabs, according to category.

3.21 - Seeds

-
~I believe seeds should be priced closer to the average exp it gives*

Example, palm seed = 35,000 points, check health = 10k exp. It's overpriced.

3.21.1 - Herb Seeds from Snapdragon to Torstol
-
This could prevent manipulation clans from trying to manipulate seed prices.
To effectively bring stability to these seed prices, it also has to be reasonably priced.

3.21.2 - Magic Seed/Papaya seed
-
Since all other tree seeds are avaliable in vinesweeper, why not add magic seeds to the reward shop? Same with papaya seed.

3.21.3 - Some Special crops
-
-Bittercap Mushroom Spore
-Cactus seeds
-Evil Turnip seeds

3.21.4 - Exclusive new seeds
-
(Under Construction)

These items are rarely avaliable at times, even on the Grand Exchange. Thus, defeating the purpose of having it listed in the GE database. ;)

3.3 - ~Special Equipment~

-Amulet of Nature(e) *enhanced

Enhancements(since Nature Amulet already holds an enchantment) can be bought from Winkin's world of seeds.
Ability to bind itself to multiple farming patches, still providing the teleport to patches when it gets diseased.
~
Farming level and number of binds it can hold

(Assume there is only 1 Spirit Tree Patch
(10)-----> Binds to 4/45 Farming Patches in Runescape 30k points.
(20)-----> 8/45 Patches in Runescape.
(30)-----> 12/45 Patches.
(40)-----> 16/45 Patches.
(50)-----> 20/45 Patches.
(60)-----> 24/45 Patches.
(70)-----> 28/45 Patches.
(80)-----> 32/45 Patches.
(90)-----> 36/45 Patches.
(99)-----> 45/45 Patches.

*The one time enhancement costs 99k points(since it doesn't sound as costly as 100k) If you lose your Amulet of nature, you'll have to enchant your new amulet at half the cost.(edited partially)

To come with the entire network bounded, there's a need to include a mini farming network map. It'll help a lot with example:
Red dots - representing immediate attention needed
Green - Fully grown
Yellow - Nicely growing, disease free
Black - Dead crops
(missing info added on by Mr Kindheart)

*A better Amulet of nature will help players in keeping their crops alive, and know when to harvest them.
When any crop gets diseased, it's growth halts for that growth period, and it needs to wait till the next growth period comes before it grows again.

3.4 - Equipment

3.41 - Garderner Clothes
Farming lacks its own unique set of special clothing compared to other skills. Agility received Agile Costumes. I'm sure farming deserves to have its set of costumes, which gives slightly better yields, compared to wearing other equipment. :)

3.5 - Miscelaneous

3.51 - Giant Compost Bin upgrade + Increased Leprechaun Storage
Capacity of 30 Compostable items.
Players with farming level of 65 and above may wish to purchase this upgrade from Mrs Winkin's world of seeds for 30k points. (Only upgrades the selected compost bin in 1 of the 4 locations, upgrade all requires more points.) Leprechauns store x2 amount of Buckets/S.compost/Comp

3.52 - Plant Cure Bag

Hold x amounts of plant cure.

3.53 - Earthworm encounters

While unearthing in vinesweeper, there is a low probability of receiving earthworms which can be taken out of the vinesweeper minigame. Can then be used on alotment patches(stacks on compost effect), to give an exceptionally good harvest.

3.6 - Private/Clan games with custom difficulty

Ability to set ur own game+ difficulty instead of playing free for all? Limit the number of players as well.

Not to forget, some players rather unearth a huge field before flagging, by having a private/clan game, ur effort wouldn't be wasted because other players might flag them.

That's a brilliant idea too, really useful especially when a veteran wants a game of his/her own. However, the random event suggestion still applies.

Private/Clan game field area should be approximately 1/4 of the current vinesweeper field, as clan games meant people want to stick together and play, while private games meant less area used.

(A jesterjoke)

3.7 - Mistakes:

Also, not to forget, farming tools and equipment are overly dependant on quest requirements. It should include these items, with no quest requirements, and just pure skill levels. Just like agility costumes.

4.1 - Additional feedback to MMH

Also not to forget, MMH, field areas in the North, East and West seem to have slower flag collection, and takes over a minute at times. I've also noticed that each farmer is allocated with a specific roaming area.

I suggest that Jagex widen these roaming areas, with farmers from different areas overlapping to a certain extent, as some areas are considered "hard to reach" for farmers.

~To elaborate on high difficulty fields...~

Hard fields should be given a slightly different point computation system. Novices may find that probability of flagging a potato is very high. Therefore, they may do constant random flagging.

You may add in some bonus score at the end of every (lets say) consecutively correctly flagged spot, to prevent abuse of the high difficulty field.

Also on current Vinesweeper limitations.
At times, I constantly receive low points(20-50) for a correctly flagged spot, although my farming level is 98(99 now). There should be increased consistency in awarding points, depending on farming levels.

Many people are not interested or do not bother, simply because they don't really learn the basics well.

Another thing that can be improved:
An improved and interesting tutorial may make it appealing to players. Instead of going straight into the game.

There could be a new feature, to allow players to play minesweeper(9x9 grid) in Runescape, without losing cash or points. This will help players understand the mechanics better.

Players really look forward on getting better harvests and also lower disease rates as levels grow.

Looking forward to a better farming skill

~Seems theres very low number of Vinesweeper fans out there.
Useful suggestions are welcomed to be posted. :):D:):D:D

5.1 - Macro Problem

(Hidden for the time being, different policies different Mods adopt. Awaiting for further clarification.)

| 5.2 - Bot suspect test |

If you suspect someone of botting, try this.

- When his/her flag runs out, flood the south stile by clicking it non stop(after he/she exits).

- If he/she's first reaction is to go to the west stile, continue to observe.

-After entering VS from west, observe whether he/she digs or not, or exit from the South stile, before re-entering.

-Always wait for last flag to be collected before restock.

-If you continue to flood stile after the exit, the bot will continue to run for a few times.
*If you ever botted vinesweeper, don't be suprised to see your name here.

**Please Send A Report Abuse If the test result is positive!**

All I have to say is, it takes too long for the system to ban them, they could have bagged a high amount of experience by the time effect is taken.

As far as possible, I guess Jagex needs to start on this revamp. Thank you for your time everyone.:)

(No naming players -cough-)

Great idea :D I find macros at Vinesweeper VERY annoying, even if I don't play it much, but I do plan to. It's probably the most fun minigame, I don't know why I believe such a thing, but to me it is. Great idea :)

Support.
