Jagex Clan Cup 2010 - Skilling Cup

Sign up for Fishing and Cooking!

Welcome to the brand new "Buddy Skills" section of the Skilling Cup! The skills that have been drawn are... Fishing and Cooking!

Now that we know the pair, it's time to sign your 10 best skillers and put them forward for the challenge. This is a reminder that anyone who had 200m XP in a skill will not register any XP gain for the duration of the skill so don't sign them up!

Sign ups for the 10 skillers for Fishing/Cooking ends 23:59 Sunday 18th July. The skilling week will begin 00:01 BST Monday 19th July and run until 23:59 Sunday 25th July.

Here is the template for you to use:

Clan Name:
User Names of your 10 participants:

The reason that we need the user name instead of your display is that it would make it much easier as our tools use your user name and not your display name. To ensure that your security is maintained, this thread will be auto-hide so that only J-Mods can see the registration. If you do not post your account name, that's OK but it will take longer to get your results.

What is Buddy Skilling?

"Buddy Skilling" is taking two skills that work from each other and then testing your knowledge to get the most from both skills.

Fishing and Cooking has been drawn for this year's Buddy Skilling session in the Jagex Cup. Here is a quick list of what's cool and what isn't cool to do for the Buddy Skilling:
  • The sessions for Buddy Skilling must be at least 2 hours (120mins) long and there must be a total of at least 4 hours of skilling.
  • You may only cook the fish that you catch. This means that trading with players, trading with shops, using the Bank and using the Grand Exchange are forbidden and using any of these during your session will disqualify you.
  • You have to use the two skills for what they are. You may not drop any raw fish that you catch but you can drop cooked fish or anything else that you have or catch. This also excludes the Barbarian Fishing method.
  • You may not use any XP boosting items. This includes any activity (minigame) reward out there, quest items or anything else. For a full list, that will be updated before the skilling begins, check here.
  • All of the XP that you gain has to be from using the skill. Gaining XP from any Distraction and Diversion or quest reward will invalidate the session. Also, even rubbing an XP lamp will also invalidate the session.
  • Summoning and Summoning Familiars are OK to use except the special ability of the Pack Yak - "Winter Storage". Any fish produced from familiars cannot be dropped but can be cooked if you so wish.

Specific items you cannot use

Here is the additional list of things to consider related to Fishing and Cooking:
  • Cooking Gauntlets reward from the "Family Crest" quest are not allowed.
  • Swordfish or Shark Gloves from the Fist of Guthix activity are not allowed.
  • Other guild members/players creating fires for you to use is OK.

Rules
  • At least 8 of the 10 registered skillers from your clan must have at least 4 full hours of skilling sessions that adhere to our rules. If there are only 7 or less, you clan will be disqualified from the Buddy Skills. For more information on sessions and full hours, check our Glossary.
  • The majority of the xp gained in each session must be of the drawn skills or it will be discounted.
  • You must not use any XP enhancing equipment such as Brawling gloves, activity rewards like Stealing Creation tools or others. For a full list, check our Glossary
  • You must only gain XP in the drawn skill from skilling. Quest rewards, XP lamps or Distraction and Diversions are not allowed, any session with these XP gains will not be counted.
  • During the session you must not trade, bank or drop resources. Resources are defined as logs, raw fish or any other processable materials in the drawn skill. These will be defined shortly after the skills have been drawn.
  • Consumables and Summoning familiars are allowed. However, the use of Pack Yak's special move "Winter Storage" is not.
  • Any disputes should be made in writing within 24 hours of the finish of the week in the Jagex Cup Disputes thread.

Jagex Clan Cup 2010 - Skilling Cup

Skilling Cup - Glossary

How is the average xp/hr calculated?

Here is how we work out your average XP/hour, with an example all the way through. All of your session data is taken from our in-house software that monitor the servers and your accounts in-game so they are 100% accurate.

Mod Timbo is skilling for the Jagex Limited clan and has over 7 sessions of skilling done in Fishing which was the drawn skill. Here are his scores:

Session 1 - 74,567xp - 67mins
Session 2 - 71,456xp - 60mins
Session 3 - 94,774xp - 102mins
Session 4 - 75,634xp - 58mins
Session 5 - 124,741xp - 126mins
Session 6 - 94,652xp - 72mins
Session 7 - 78,632xp - 60mins

First, we convert each session into XP/hour unless it's already at exactly 60/120/180 mins. This is done by dividing the XP by the amount of minutes getting XP/minute rate and then multiplying by 60 to get XP/hour. Any session that isn't at least 60mins is discounted. So, in order, here is the XP/hour from each session:

Session 1 - 66,776 XP/hour
Session 2 - 71,456 XP/hour
Session 3 - 55,749 XP/hour
Session 4 - Disqualified
Session 5A - 59,400 XP/hour
Session 5B - 59,400 XP/Hour
Session 6 - 78,877 XP/hour
Session 7 - 78,632 XP/hour

We then take the 5 best sessions and take an average of that by adding them all together and dividing by 5. Session 5 that was over two complete hours get converted into XP/Hour and then mutiplied into two usable sessions. In this case, only one session was needed but both could be used.

78,632 + 78,877 + 71,456 + 66,776 + 59,400 = 355,141/5

= 71,029 XP/Hour for Mod Timbo.

We then take each registered player in that clan, add their average XP/hour and then divide by how many players are eligible (some may not have had 5 hours skilling, so we may divide by 8 or 9 depending on how many qualified) to get the average XP/hour for that clan for the skill. Here are new scores for Jagex Limited for Fishing.

Mod Timbo - 72,122 XP/Hour
Mod Kathy - 71,344 XP/Hour
Mod Hohbein - Didn't score enough sessions
Mod Mattyc - 67,542 XP/Hour
Mod Kat - 69,951 XP/Hour
Mod Howes - 65,809 XP/Hour
Mod Mat K - 72,121 XP/Hour
Mod Paul M - 70,890 XP/Hour
Mod Crow - 67,853 XP/Hour
Mod Emilee - 71,662 XP/Hour

Jagex Limited's xp/hour for Fishing = 69,922 XP/Hour

We then take each of the total clan averages for each section of the Cup (two normal sessions and the Buddy Skills), add them together and divide by three. This is the total xp/hour for the whole competition.

Jagex Limited average XP/Hour in each section:

Fishing - 69922 XP/Hour
Mining/Smelting - 55431 XP/Hour
Mining - 71881 XP/Hour

Overall for the competition - 65745 XP/Hour

What can I not do during the sessions of Skilling?

You must not use:

Morphic tools from Stealing Creation
Volitile tools from Stealing Creation
The Inferno Adze
Lumberjack set
Penance Horn from Barbarian Assault
Runecrafting Tele Tabs from the Great Orb Project
Locators from Mobilising Armies
Any type of Brawling gloves
XP Lamps of any type
Any Distraction and Diversion (specifically Penguin Hide and Seek, Evil Trees, Shooting Stars, Fish Flingers, Shattered Heart and Balthazar Beaurgard's Big Top Bonanza)

If a skill is drawn, please check the thread as new items or restrictions may be made based on the skill.

What is a 'session'?

A session is the term that we use from the time that you logged into the game (not lobby) to the time that you fully log out of the game. This doesn't necessarily have to be any particular length of time except that it must be at least one hour long for the normal skilling and at least two hours long for the Buddy Skills.

Each session that passes the rules and is at least 60 mins long will count towards your skilling. Don't forget that we take the best five hours of skilling from you so if you do mess things up, it shouldn't count if you make up for it!
