Hiya,

I've been working on a Wise Old Man quest, continuing his story beyond the events of Swan Song. You can read about it here.

The quest's been in testing for a week already, and is looking fairly solid so far, so we're aiming for a summer release date provided nothing unexpected happens.

Questions

Q: Does this mean that party hats are getting updated?
A: No. The Wise Old Man himself is getting updated, so his hat looks a smidgen different, but we're not planning to apply the same change to your hats when the quest comes out.

Q: Does this mean that Draynor Village is getting updated?
A: Our Graphics guys have been working on that, but I don't know when they're due to finish. It's certainly not due out with this quest.

Q: There are pictures of statues in the image. Will we be able to have statues of ourselves in our houses?
A: Those statues are NOT a hint about the quest reward. RuneScape's game engine isn't able to save out a 3D model of you and turn it into a bit of scenery in your house. Although the game engine is always being improved, please don't expect anything of the sort to come out with this quest.

Q: Do we need to do Swan Song and My Arm's Big Adventure?
A: You need Swan Song, and part of Recipe for Disaster, but not My Arm's.

Q: Is this a Grandmaster Quest?
A: We're expecting to call it a medium-length Master Quest.

Q: Is the WOM a secret Zamorak/Zaros worshipper?
A: If he is, IT'S A SECRET.

Q: How did you get that avatar?
A: I transformed my character into the Wise Old Man for the picture. There are some benefits to being a Jmod, after all.

Nice! Really like the final sentence.
"I'd recommend getting your Construction, Smithing and Crafting to the upper 60s, and your Magic to the upper 70s"

So its a higher end quest :P <3

First :O?

Sounds good! Killing someone that hates quests? Sounds even better! :P

A quest about quests, that's a really nice idea. The POH of the Wise Old Man is looking great, I want that POH theme too! Would be great! :P

Looks good, really can't wait :D

2 questions, will draynor village also be recieving an update? I mean cmon... it's so outdated and ugly....

and finaly, why is there a room with ancient magik staves in the wom's house? although I doubt you'd give us spoilers, i thought wom was against the use of these magiks and the mentioning of zaros.

Draynor Village is due for an update, yes. The Graphics guys have already done quite a lot of that work, I believe, but it won't be coming out with the WOM quest.

Actually, the graphical update to the WOM himself was originally meant to be part of the Draynor Village work.

Now THIS is a developer blog. Talks about new content, gives us some things to look forward to and tells us roughly what requirements we will probably need. THIS is what the vast majority of people disappointed in the blogs wanted. 2 of these a month, even if you're repeating the same content a few times each, would be a perfectly adequate replacement of the Behind the Scenes.

I'm really looking forward to this quest, and some of the ideas such as the POH sound really good. Really interested in the whole NPCs' view of adventurers thing too, so looking forward to this one! Won't be expecting it until maybe early July though...

On that note, can we have any form of a release date? Basic things such as confirming it will be in 2010, or in the Summer months, is a big boost to the Future Updates forums and to people looking forward to new content.
