Description

Shattered Plans is a turn-based, multiplayer strategy game in which players expand their territory until they rule the galaxy. Commit your fleets and watch the results play out; take over star systems and harvest their resources; build powerful projects to aid in your conquest; form strategic alliances; build up your fleet of starships; and shatter the plans of your enemies.

FAQs

1. Where do I start?

The best place to start learning how to play Shattered Plans is to play the tutorial, perhaps more than once. The tutorial teaches you everything from making moves, attacking systems, harvesting resources and the special projects. The tutorial also allows you to play against two AI controlled enemies.

After the tutorial, it might be worth playing a few games in Single-player Skirmish mode. This mode pits you against some more AI opponents, allowing you to hone your skills and try out different game types before taking on human opposition in the Multiplayer Lobby. You'll also find a recap of everything in the tutorial in the Instructions.

2. What are the special projects, how do I get them and what do they do?

There are four special projects that can be the difference between victory and defeat: Defensive Net, Terraforming, Stellar Bomb and Tannhuser Project.

When you first capture a system, your research into each project increases in line with that system's resource output (as shown under the Projects window in-game). The resources match up to the projects as follows:

Defensive Net - Metal (blue)
Effectively counts a system's strength as double the size of any fleets there

Terraforming - Biomass (green)
Increases the resource output of any system to six resource units

Stellar Bomb - Energy (orange)
Destroys half the enemy fleets in the target system (or a defensive net, if the system has one) and cancels any moves out of that system

Tannhuser - Exotics (magenta)
Creates a new wormhole between one of your systems and any other system in the galaxy

3. What do the crosshatched lines over my territory mean?

Any of your systems covered in crosshatching are in danger of falling to your enemies. If you're playing with the Classic rules, this could also cause other nearby systems to fall (such systems should also be crosshatched). Try placing a second layer of defence behind your front lines to avoid putting your systems at risk.

4. Why didn't my ships move - I gave them orders to leave a system?

It's likely that one of your opponents used a Stellar Bomb on the system your fleets were departing from. Fleets are unable to leave a system in the same turn a Stellar Bomb is detonated there.

5. How does the ratings system work?

The Shattered Plans ratings system rewards players for surviving as long as possible. Even if you don't think you're going to win the game, you can still achieve a positive rating by outlasting other players.

6. What are the minimum specifications for this game?

The minimum specifications we recommend for this game are:

  • 500 MHz
  • 128 MB RAM

The recommended specifications for getting the most out of this game are:

  • 1.5 GHz
  • 256 MB RAM

Below is an explanation of the terms in our technical specifications.

Megahertz (MHz) / Gigahertz (GHz) is a measure of how fast your computer's processor is. This affects how quickly you can run things like games and applications.

Megabytes (MB) are used to measure how much memory your computer has. This affects how quickly your computer runs when using large programs such as games, or when you run a lot of programs at once.
