Description

Transmogrify is an exciting word-based game, which will test your anagram-finding skills to the max! Beginners can aim to race the clock or rack up a high variety bonus; experienced players can aim to do both at the same time, and everyone can seek that elusive 12-letter word!

Bonus points will be given to those who create the longest and most varied words.

FAQs

1. Why didn't Transmogrify accept my perfectly cromulent word?

If you're playing in English, make sure you're playing with the correct dictionary. We have British English and American English dictionaries; if you're playing with the British dictionary then 'color' won't be accepted, and likewise 'colour' isn't in the American dictionary.

Even if you are playing with the correct dictionary, the dictionaries aren't exhaustive. To make them exhaustive just isn't practical. Also, some words have been removed for being potentially offensive.

2. How does the variety bonus work?

Each word is compared with all of the previously submitted words. The variety bonus is based on the difference between the length of the word submitted and the length of the longest sequence of letters it has in common with a previous word.

3. What can I do if I can't find any word in the letters I've been given?

If you really despair of making a word, you can submit an empty rack. This won't score you anything for the round, but will give you a new set of 8 tiles for the next round. Alternatively, you could use the 'Reshuffle' control, as a means of gaining inspiration.

4. What are the minimum specifications for this game?

The minimum specifications we recommend for this game are:

  • 500 MHz
  • 128 MB RAM

The recommended specifications for getting the most out of this game are:

  • 1.5 GHz
  • 256 MB RAM

Below is an explanation of the terms in our technical specifications.

Megahertz (MHz) / Gigahertz (GHz) is a measure of how fast your computer's processor is. This affects how quickly you can run things like games and applications.

Megabytes (MB) are used to measure how much memory your computer has. This affects how quickly your computer runs when using large programs such as games, or when you run a lot of programs at once.
