I am trying to build this thread as much as I can;
Please, post your own etiquette and stories :)

Please state that you are a "supporter", so I can add you to the list. If you rather stay off the list, just leave that bit out :)

============================
--------Let me Introduce myself--------
============================

G'day. I'm Uber Nuber. Previously Hacker 9 5.
I've been playing for 3 or so years now, mainly focussing on having fun and meeting new people. I don't play to be the best, I play for the experience. I'm a proud Australian and a normal person...I suppose; I play Aussie rules football, I'm in year *censored* of school, and I live in *Censored* of Australia. haha sorry i try not to disclose much info.

============================
--------Introduction to the thread-------
============================

Welcome to my "Guide to In-Game etiquette"

So, let me ask you a few questions;

How many times has somebody stolen your kill?
How many times have you been called a noob? or a nerd?
How many times have you had your world "stolen"?
I could go on but I've made my point.

Notice I said "how many times?" instead of "have you ever?"
admit it; you have had these happen to you at least once.
My hopes for this thread is to pass on some guiding information for newbies or veterans who would be in a position such as these I have talked about :)

-------------------Minigames---------------
============================

- - Single player games not included - -

- - 2 Team Games - -
These include:
- Castle Wars
- Soul Wars
- Stealing Creation
- Clan Wars

- - 1 Team Games - -
These include:
- Pest control
- Barbarian Assault
- Shades of Mort'ton
- Fishing Trawler
- Dungeoneering*
- Notify me of any I have forgotten.

*Not a mini-game but a skill that can be assessed here.

With 1 team games, there is a single team fighting for the same outcome. These games usually require a large amount of teamwork and at least a little bit of organisation.

With 2 team games, there is the participation of 2 teams; Usually an attacking and defending team, or 2 mutual teams attacking. Teamwork is still a must, and organisation is usually not as focused.

Issues with mini-games:
- skill level clashes
- lack of teamwork
- Soloers taking ahead
- superiority
- AFK
- Winners are Grinners

- - Skill level clashes - -
People tend to be proud of their high skills. And why not? But be aware that people usually don't care about your skills as much you do. Don't brag about it.

If someone has a lower level than you, and is doing a lower level task, don't call them "noobs" and such. They are simply doing what they can to help. You can K.O a barrier in 5 hits? cool. Don't diss those who hit constant 0's.

- - Lack of Teamwork - -
When playing a TEAM game, you need TEAM work. Obviously this refers to killing what is needed to be killed, and making what is needed to be made. You need to work with your team to score higher or win. Oh no! a lvl 50 is getting pwnt by a brawler! never fear, me (lvl 109) is here! Oh no! a player is low on health, but I have 5 healers around...PLAYER FIRST...

- - SOLOERS and SUPERIORITY - -
Ok, so these two sections can really be coupled together. The ideal is that (usually) higher levels try to race through and get as far as possible (especially with Dungeoneering). The basic principles of etiquette here are to try and go WITH your team. You may think racing ahead is best...and sometimes it is...But think of the enjoyment of your team. Nobody likes being left behind. so your best bet is to stay with your group, even take charge and lead them.

- - AFK - -
Away From Keyboard (AFK) pretty much means just that. Having your account logged in whilst your away doing something else. This is pretty lame because in a mini-game, you leave your team mates to do all the work. Good job, you're lame. Do yourself and your team a favour and either log out or stay that little bit longer.

When someone is AFK, it can come down to more than just arrogance;

- Failure to log out (miss-click, not waiting the 10 seconds after combat, ect...)
- Browser problems/Lagg
- Un-avoidable interruption (phone call, being tackled by a friend, ect...)
- Arrogance -.-
- "Just a second" syndrome* *When you think you'll just be a second, but in fact something happens and your away for ages.

Chances are you will not know why someone is away, so don't go by your gut instinct and flame* the person. Just relax, and try to work without them. If they play a major role in the game, try a few things (if they don't respond to text);

- try doing emotes in front of them. This can grab their attention.
- PM them
- get your group to stand near them.

- - Winners are Grinners - -

Those who win the game have bragging rights.
If you lose the game, don't go boo'ing the winning team or claiming unfairness. take the loss and move on.
If you win the game, refrain from bragging too much. Bragging is fun, but it is quite un-enjoyable from the other end, so keep your taunts fair and tamed, and to a minimum.

============================
----------------Player Killing---------------
============================

Player Killing is classed as the 1 on 1 battle of 2 participants to the death. This is apparent in:
- The Duel Arena
- PVP Worlds
- Bounty Hunter* *You can attack more players and likewise
- Fist of Guthix

These activities are subject to taunting more than most; So will be the focus of this section.

- - Taunting - -

Taunting can vary through many stages:
- I won/lost so your a noob/nerd
- I won/lost so I can follow you
- Fight me noob

- - I won/lost so your a noob/nerd - -
- - I won/lost so I can follow you - -
Ok so you just won a game. awesome! time to brag! noob I pwnt you! lololol!
not cool. People go to fight with other for fun and profit. they don't need you taunting them because you won. You were superior to them enough to beat them, whether it be through levels or tactics. THAT should be taunt enough.

Ok so you just lost a game. Oh well. Nerd!
Also not cool. as before, people come for fun and/or profit. They beat you because they were better than you. Get over it and move on.

- - Fight me noob - -
So you spy your target. Excellent! another easy kill! "Hey noob, fight me"
Would you like someone calling you for a fight, taunting you before you've even fought? no. you wouldn't. Don't attack people before the fight. They don't care if you think your superior. Outside of an arena is even worse! If your in a flame fight and you think you can beat them...sure, challenge them. keep it fair. a lvl 40 vs a lvl 100 is not fair.

-------------------Skilling--------------------
============================

Skilling refers to training skills. These are (in most cases) safe, or hardly dangerous. Except for combat, which is Highly dangerous

2 categories;
click! Click! Click! (constant clicking) and;
click....click....click... (click, wait, bank...repeat)

click! click! click! marked by *
These skills include:
- Combat*
- Agility*
- Construction
- Cooking
- Crafting
- Farming
- Fire-making
- Fishing
- Fletching
- Herblore
- Hunter*
- non-combat Magic*
- Mining
- Prayer (bought bones)*
- Runecrafting
- Smithing
- Summoning*
- Thieving
- Woodcutting

Whilst skilling, you usually come across:
- Skill Level Clashes
- AFK / "bots"
- Kill/World Stealing

- - Skill Level Clashes - -
You will usually come across someone with a higher level than yours. They may be very proud about this, and feel like bragging. If they start talking about they're journey to such a level (this is usually how people brag), try taking one of three approaches.

either roll with it and give them the attention they crave. "Gratz" or "cool" are good because they are non threatening and easily please condescending fellows.
or, you can give as little attention as possible. Do this by keeping chat to a minimal "mhmm" or "cool" simply tell the person "I don't care".
Thirdly, you can conveniently change your "public chat" tab to "friends" or "hide" or "off". viola! your free!
- of course, THIS brings us directly to AFK.

- - AFK / "Bots" - -
Many times you will see someone and try to spark a conversation with them. Whats this? no reply?! BOT!!! guess again. More than likely (especially with Jagex hunting bots like mice to a Hawk) people will have turned their "Public Tab" to "friends" or "hide" or "off". This way, they cannot see your typing. People do this so that they can focus on clan chats or friend chat...or just to not have to talk to other people. fair enough right?

- - Kill/World Stealing - -
Sometimes people can be jerks. They may attempt to steal your kill or the world your on. This pretty much means they take over your spot and don;t let you get any kills.

Basically, If you arrive at a place and no one is there; you can claim it. Even if someone has JUST left, you can still claim it as yours. The same applies to yourself; If you leave, your world can be claimed.

If someone takes your kill or world, ask nicely for them to move on or world hop. if they refuse, change world. Don't result to petty fights because chances are they will stay there to peeve you off even further.

Stop. Breathe. Move on.

The ideal is, that you don't take someone's kill, or their world. Be passive and kind to others. world hop if there is someone or too man people.

============================
-------------------Flaming-------------------
============================

Flaming is the basic ideals of fighting.
People will use whatever means they have to put you down and make themselves superior. Don't fall into this and get agro. with aggression comes instability, and ignorance. You don;t want to go over the edge and start swearing and get a mute, do you?

Many times in game you may be playing or whatever, and you find that certain someone that rubs you the wrong way. In the case you want to flame with them (FIRSTLY do this by pm or clan chat. No-body wants to hear your fights) During fights like these you can expect a lot of bragging and bad language.

- - Bragging - -
"blah blah blah...oh yeah?! I have 3 99's, what have YOU got??" bragging is a good way to shut someone up.

Yeah...no it's not. Fuel to a fire.
You think your levels are good. your just giving someone the fight of you being a nerd. Petty people will take whatever you say and turn it on you, so try and just stay mellow and keep your hard-coreness to yourself.

- - Bad Language - -
Bad Language will get you no-where. It will, however, get you a mute. Swearing is the primal urge of most people. It is a good way to show ones emotions and feelings. But please, remember that kids play this game too...although the 'legal' age is 13, plenty of players are younger than this. They don;t need you influencing them with bad language whilst they try to have fun. Your wouldn't swear at a kid if their parents were there so don't do it regardless.

ALWAYS FIGHT THROUGH PM OR CLAN CHAT - Sometimes you can't avoid a fight...fair enough; KEEP IT PRIVATE. other people don't want to hear you fight so just keep it on the down low.

-------------Personal Life/info------------
============================

Personal Information is not meant to be released over RuneScape. It's as simple as that; Don' do it!
NEVER should you release anything such as;
- Your address or residence
- ***** or Phone number
- Account details (of any sort)

- - The Truth :) and the Truth :@ - -
Bragging in a game usually comes down to what you HAVE. The simple fact is you shouldn't lie about it.

"Wow! you have a car? cool what type? - Mines a Ferrari"

oh yeah? cool story bro.

The truth :)
You have a car, and a house? nice! :) don't over do it though. you have accomplished something or whatever, some people haven't done as much. don't rub it in and make them feel bad.

The Truth :@
Yeah you don't have a Ferrari. And your house doesn't have 5 stories. Don't lie for the sake of bragging rights. People just...DON'T care about your lies.
