Hi adventurers,
Good to see that so many non-native speakers venture into the Finnish forums. That definitely makes us feel more connected with the English-speaking worlds! A word regarding translation tools, though. Is it just me or are they not really working properly yet? I have a real problem understanding what some people want to say... You probably had similar problems trying to understand what us Finnish wanted to say when we posted in the English forums, but anyway. I will give you an example. Let's translate the following sentence from Finnish into English, using a translation tool: Mit�s kaikille kuuluu � nautitteko Suomi foorumista? Onko kaikilla hauskaa? N�hd��n peliss�. RuneScape omistaa! The translation tool suggests: What belongs to everyone - you enjoy Finnish Forum? Is it all funny? See you in the game. RuneScape is owned! Right! What I wanted to say was: So, how is everyone - enjoying the Finnish forum? Everybody happy? We'll see you guys in-game. RuneScape owns! I am posting this so you see why you might not get the reaction you are hoping for when posting something in the Finnish forums and using a translation tool for translating it intoFinnish. If you find that nobody answers your post, it's not, because people don't like you. It's probably, because they don't understand. In the event of this happening, I propose the following: If you want to communicate something to the Finnsih-speaking players, but do not speak Finnish, use the Finnish-English-Friendship Forum and post in English. Who knows, you might find a Finnish speaker who will volunteer to translate your message into Finnish. Thanks and have fun! Your RuneScape Team |

Great idea. Otherwise I would have ended up stuck translating. I hope to use this forum shortly to get to know some more Finns

I was wondering, are you going to make anything like Dutch-Finish Friendship forums? I don't speak many other languages personaly (asking for a bus ticket in french is as far as my GCSE textbook learning will take me) but I suppose other people would appreciate it.

This is very true. Translators almost always butcher sentences and sometimes can completely twist around what you intended on saying. Anyway, it's awesome to see these new language forum sections. ~ Nikos247 ~ |

This is great, always needed such forums but since I am not having any plans to learn Finnish until I go to Hell or at least helsinki I doubt I will spend much time in here
