Warning
Ourania Cave is the property of the ZMI (Zamorak Magical Institute), and they are jealous of their property. Please take note of the difference in danger when selecting your choice of path to the Ourania Altar.
Introduction
Of course, Runecrafting altars are powerful artefacts to control, and the ZMI - jealous of the Saradominists' apparent monopoly on the rune essence - has leapt into action to seize this important site.
Location
As an unholy site of Zamorak's power, it is unsurprising that the great Zamorakian astronomer, Scorpius, can be found just to the south - although he's been dead for quite some time.
Adventurers who have healed the rift between the Moon Clan and the Fremennik will also be able to learn a new Ourania Teleport spell to bring them to the start of the path leading up to the entrance to Ourania Cave. To learn this spell, though, they must first speak with Baba Yaga.
Points of Interest
Near the entrance to the cave is Eniola, a humble servant of the Bank of RuneScape. His presence has been commissioned by the ZMI to improve the efficiency of their Runecrafting operations. For the very reasonable price of twenty runes, he will grant you access to your bank account.
No guide to Ourania Cave would be complete, of course, without mention of the Altar itself. Click here to read about the Altar.
Personalities
The ZMI has placed this devout worshipper of that evil god at the Chaos Altar to watch over the entrance and to warn those adventurers that might try to enter of the dangers that await them. He is, however, quite approachable and generally rather well groomed.

Quests
There are no quests to start in Ourania Cave.
Nastiness in Ourania Cave
The youngest initiates within the ZMI are sent on perilous missions past the vicious beasts of the cave (although they go along with a fairly hefty number of Zamorak's more useful soldiers) to work on building up the ZMI's hoard of runes. Should they survive doing this for any great period of time, they might even be allowed to move on to cutting down dead trees or starting fires with evil flames.

Cave lizards are native to Ourania Cave, and haven't taken kindly to the invasion of suspicious, red-garbed humans. You'll often see them ineffectually biting at Zamorak's minions, and sometimes they'll go for a bite of you...

Zamorak crafters can be found running between Eniola and the Ourania Altar. | Cave lizards can be found on the short path to the Altar. |
Armed with evil bows and wicked arrows, Zamorak's rangers enjoy skewering things from a distance and can often be found picking on anything smaller than themselves - the cave lizards are a particular favourite.

Evil to the core from years of bullying at school, Zamorak mages now wield potent magic with which to smite the smug sporting types that made their younger days difficult. Having said that, they're unlikely to run into them in Ourania Cave - but just give them the opportunity...

The followers of Zamorak that prefer the intimacy of close combat are armed with nasty blades and imposing armour. They gladly defend the crafters that run along the path, but that's more from a love of combat than any sense of fellowship.

Miscellaneous
- Despite its appearance, there is no Agility requirement to use the crack in the wall that leads from the long path to the Altar itself.
