<h1>Tools/Compiler Developer</h1>

<p>Jagex Ltd, the UK's leading independent online games studio, is looking for experienced tools programmers, who want to work with cutting-edge technology, to join our Core Technologies department. You would be working with our code libraries, game engine and bespoke tool chain.</p>
<p>This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join a fast-paced, rapidly-expanding games company based in Cambridge, and help us to achieve our ambitious goals for 2010 and beyond.</p>
<h4>Key Duties Include:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Developing and maintaining our radical new web development toolset</li>
<li>Working on cutting-edge, in-house tools, languages and systems that give the studio its competitive advantage</li>
<li>Researching and developing our advanced technologies, platforms and ideas to give better gameplay to our players and performance efficiencies to our staff</li>
<li>Providing support to the users of our in-house tools and platforms</li>
<li>Supporting the production of in-house platform documentation</li>
</ul>
<h4>Essential Requirements:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Excellent working knowledge of Java</li>
<li>Industry experience of compiler development</li>
<li>Strong understanding/appreciation of code design philosophies and an interest in software language design</li>
<li>Good industry track record, which may include previously published products or tools development experience</li>
<li>Strong academic background at degree level or equivalent</li>
<li>The ability to think creatively to solve problems</li>
</ul>
<h4>Desirable Requirements:</h4>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience of working in the games industry would be a big plus</li>
</ul>
