Burgh de Rott refugees

A group of villagers wishes to leave Burgh de Rott and escape to Misthalin, via the Temple of Saradomin also known as Paterdomus. The three routes leading to the Temple consist of various adventures, challenges and puzzles. Only the brave shall walk these routes to help the villagers reach their destination. Will you help?

Getting to the Temple is no easy task. With a choice of three routes from easy to hard and six different people to choose from, varying from the weak to the strong, which route will you take to get to the Temple?

With the discovery of Burgh de Rott and the misery of its citizens, adventurers from across the world are flooding the north-west border of Morytania, all waiting eagerly to aid the poor villagers in their plight. Unfortunately, none of them know the way, but they're willing to pay handsomely for a guide...

To begin your journey on Burgh de Rott Temple Trek, you must be able to pass into Morytania and hence must have completed the <a href="priest_in_peril_members.html">Priest In Peril</a> quest. When you have done this quest, you can access Morytania which includes the town of Canifis from where you can take the route to Burgh de Rott.
<br><br>
When you are ready to leave, head west out of Canifis and then south-west until you reach the mushroom patch. From this patch you should see a gate, which you can pass through if you have completed <b>or</b> started the <a href="the_nature_spirit_members.html">Nature Spirit</a> quest.
<br><br>
From here, it is highly recommended you set 'Run' to 'On' and run south as fast as possible until you reach a wooden bridge. Running is recommended, as Mort Myre is plagued by ghasts, which are known to rot food and you will need these for your trek!
<br><br>
From the bottom of the Myre, follow the winding path along towards the town of Mort'ton and head south towards Burgh de Rott.
<br><br>
Once you have completed <a href="darkness_of_hallowvale_members.html">Darkness of Hallowvale</a> you may elect not to bother with this route, and instead escort an adventurer south before returning with a villager.

<b>Important:</b> Please note that there is a risk of death, so you should only bring items/weapons that you are willing to lose.
<br><br>
The routes to the Temple can be quite dangerous, with some tough enemies to fight on the way, so why not take some good armour and fill your inventory with food? You can give your refugee/mercenary food before you set out on your journey, which will bring up a nice interface to deal with, rather then trying to feed them while ghasts and vampyres are trying to feed on you!

The following items are recommended along with the strong armour and food to help overcome the challenges:

<td>A blessed silver sickle - blessed by the <a href="the_nature_spirit_members.html">Nature Spirit</a>, this will be very useful for refilling your druid pouch (see below).</td>

<td>A druid pouch - vital in fighting ghasts, you will need a filled druid pouch to make the ghasts visible and hence attackable. If your pouch is empty use a blessed silver sickle to cast 'Bloom' and harvest some nearby resources.</td>

Ghasts are spread throughout Mort Myre and also inhabit the specialist routes you follow during the Temple Trek and Burgh de Rott Ramble activity. Ensure that you have completed the <a href="the_nature_spirit_members.html">Nature Spirit</a> quest in order to use the druid pouch.
<br><br>
While some items, such as a hammer and a knife, may be useful when trekking and rambling, you will be able to find these items in your area when you need them.

The range of villagers you can escort to the Temple are as follows:

Rolayne is a lonely old man and quite hard to accompany, but he will help you get the greatest reward. Rolayne will try to defend himself but he is not a very capable fighter, so you will need to keep a close eye on him and stick together on the route to the temple.
<br>
This is where the food comes in handy. If Rolayne is taking heavy damage you can give him food to restore some of his health.</td>

Jayene is a medium-level villager to accompany and will help you get one of the medium rewards. She is reasonably tough and can take a few hits. She can also try to defend herself and fight off other monsters within the event area.

Although she will not be a problem on the easy route, you may want to consider some food just in case she takes heavy damage.</td>

Foresters are not noted as great heroes in the annals of history, so it's little surprise that those rushing to Burgh de Rott are less than qualified.

The Woman-at-arms is a warrior in training, and in a few years she should be able to make her own solo expeditions, or even lead other adventurers to Burgh de Rott. In the meantime, though, her enthusiasm greatly exceeds her skill.

Once you have decided on the villager you are going to guide, you will be taken to a screen where you can choose the route you wish to take to the Temple. During the trek to the Temple, you may experience a selection of events. These events should prove exciting and rewarding. You will have a choice of three routes.

<td> This is the slowest route, but it poses the least danger as it zig-zags through Mort Myre and allows plenty of chances to evade events if they happen. <td> This route is quite dangerous. The route follows the edge of the river Salve on the way up to Paterdomus. There are fewer opportunities for you to evade events. In these events the river is always on the left and reflects the lack of potential escape directions.

You need to defeat 50% of the enemies (if 5 total enemies then kill 3, if 3 total enemies then kill 2) in this area before you can evade an event. The route is designed for mid-level players with a fairly high Combat level.</td>

<td><i>Route 3: Hard</i></td>
<td> This route is very dangerous. This is much faster and the monsters are aware of this. It would be foolish to take this route with a weak adventurer. Enemies will set up ambushes and it's impossible to evade them. You must defeat all of the monsters in the area and complete the event to continue your trek, otherwise, your only option is to escape.
<br><br>
The only way out is to finish the trek or to "Escape", which entails no rewards for your hard work. This route is designed for mid-to-high level players who fancy a challenge. </td>

The following are your menu-optionss in the event. You will find these by right-clicking the leaves on the ground at certain places on the edge of an event area.

<li>The <b>Continue</b> menu option can only be used once you have completed the given event. This could be solving a puzzle or killing all enemies.</li>

<li>The <b>Escape</b> menu option can be used to escape an event at any point. Escaping will forfeit any rewards and you will appear in the relevant area of Morytania.</li>
<br>
<li>The <b>Evade</b> menu option can be used to evade from an event and continue with the trek.*</li>

*This is possible at any point on the Easy route, but it will increase your chances of getting an event again. In order to evade from the Medium route you will need to have completed 50% of the event. You cannot Evade from the harder route and must complete the event or use the "Escape" option.

When you are at this stage, use the staff's special attack to hold the vampyre. While the vampyre is paralysed, quickly use some Guthix Balance on him. Doing so will either kill him, cure him or make him angry and stronger!</td>

Mort Myre is a marshland after all, so don't be surprised if you come across a bog. Although seemingly impossible to cross, you will find that with the tools of the myre it is possible. If you brought any bladed weapon or knife with you then use it on a nearby spiked bush. <br><br>
You will get three spiny sticks from doing this. Use your stick with a section of the bog to see if the ground is firm enough to cross (you may lose a stick randomly in the bog). When you have tested the bog with your stick, cross onto the firm section and continue testing the next part until you make it all the way across.</td>

If you manage to make it all the way from Burgh De Rott to the Temple on the Salve, or vice versa, the character you have guided will present you with a reward scroll. <br><br>
<b>Please note:</b> If you make it through Mort Myre without encountering an event, you will only receive a small amount of the reward when handing in the reward scroll. This reward maybe smaller than the amounts shown in the table below.
<br><br>
There are three scrolls: blue, yellow and red. The one you receive is based upon which character you took on which route, and how you handled any events you encountered. For Temple Trekking, head to the Burgh de Rott bank to cash in this scroll for your reward; Ramble rewards can be redeemed by Hiylik Myna, at the Burgh de Rott Ramble start point.
