While Jagex is a clear industry leader in making our games and infrastructure secure, some of our players<72> personal computers have proved vulnerable to account hijacking in the form of viruses, key loggers, phishing websites or players simply revealing their Jagex password. Given these challenges, we are determined that your account remains secure at all times, even if your personal computer has been compromised or somebody else knows your password. We think we have found a solution to these problems: the Jagex security key. <br> <br>This key looks like a bit like a USB dongle, which you will be able to put on your key ring or store in a secure location. The key will reveal a six to eight-digit code that changes every few seconds and is completely unique to you. Type this code into a Jagex login page and you will be able to guarantee that you are secure from any hijacking attempt. <br> <br>For the techies out there, the key is an <20>Enterprise two-factor authentication solution<6F>. We<57>re really enthusiastic about its potential to stop hijackers and phishing sites in their tracks, but since this will require significant investment and resources, we aren<65>t going to make any final decisions without talking to you first. We would like you to head over to the poll system, on the left-hand side of the RuneScape front page, and answer two questions: would you be interested in buying one of these security keys, and what is the most you would be willing to pay? <br> <br>With the Jagex security key, we would be so confident that your account is secure that we could consider adding expanded bank space to those accounts that are protected by the Jagex security key. <br> <br>NOTES <20> it would not be compulsory to buy the security key. It would be an optional means for you to keep your account genuinely secure. The Jagex security key would be available to all countries for a single one-off price. The security key would be available to both free players and members. <br> <br>While we are enthusiastic about the Jagex security key, there are still a number of variables that could determine whether we can roll this out, ranging from technical challenges and, naturally, players' interest in the device. <br> <br>Please give us your feedback <img class="sm0" alt=":)" title=":)" src="../../../site/img/blk.gif" />

Best idea i've seen JaGex make in like 3 years. Blizzard has their own version of the key called the &quot;Blizzard Authenticator&quot; which I use for my account that's affiliated with them, and for about 2 years now, my account hasn't been touched by anyone but me. <br> <br>For any of you that don't understand, its just a little flash drive looking piece of plastic with a screen and a button. (I hook mine onto my mouse cord) and when you login to rs or the forums or whatever itll take you to a second login screen that requires a code, So you go about and push the little button on the Key and it'll give you the code to put in.... Now it's not just a code, it's a code that changes every 5 seconds, so that every time you log in... it's a different code. It may sound a little bit out of the water, but there's a 0 percent chance you'll ever get hacked after getting one. <br> <br>Get this thing into production so I can buy one JaGex!!! <br> <br>EDIT: The Blizzard Authenticator is also available for the IPhone/IPod touch, same thing.. just on the ipod or iphone. Maybe JaGex could work on something like that also. <br> <br>EDIT #2: The Blizzard authenticator also lets you use the same authenticator on more than one account. Maybe JaGex could implement this so we don't need to buy one for our pures also.

How 'exactly' would this work? Would it be a 2nd pass.word? Would it be like the Security Questions? The code - is it unique to &quot;Tweezer33&quot;, do I have to enter that code in? <br> <br>When would I use this? I don't 'fully' understand what they're used for, in this circumstance.

Any additional security is always welcome, and this would certainly help decrease frustrations with hacked accounts. <br> <br>I think that an additional pass* however, which can be used to lock an account and has to be clicked into the screen much like the bank pin system, but in a seperate part of the website, would work equally well, and wouldn't require payment for a physical object. <br> <br>*edit: got censored for the full word. <img class="sm3" alt=":(" title=":(" src="../../../site/img/blk.gif" />

I'd support all the way, i'd pay a limit of 20$ at MOST, not highter, it sounds like a nice and secure idea, the only problem I can think of is if you lose the USB and can't log in.

It sounds like a great idea, i would definately buy one, my only concern would be whether or not they could be purchased outside of the Jagex Store.
