Hallo! <br> <br>My name is Nicholas, and I am a highschool student from America. Since about 8th grade I have been seriously considering going to the Netherlands and a foreign exchange student. <br> <br>Why? <br> <br>-Most of my ancestors are Dutch, and came from the Northern parts of Friesland and Groningen. <br> <br>-I am very interested in the Dutch language <br> <br>-I want to experience a new culture <br> <br>___ <br> <br>But some problems have been comming up; whenever I tell somebody that I would like to go there, they automatically scoff. <br> <br>They say things such as this about the Nederlands <br> <br>-Nearly everyone smokes soft dr-gs <br> <br>-Nearly everyone gets completely wrecked every weekend from drinking way to much at parties <br> <br>-It is extremely over populated <br> <br>-Most people hate it when foreigners try to speak Dutch <br> <br>-The air is dirty with pollution <br> <br>-Healthcare is the worst in the world <br> <br>-The police do nothing to stop crimes <br> <br>_____________ <br> <br>I used to really admire this country, and even started learning Dutch. Now my hopes have gone down a bit and I am considering going to Norway, Sweden or Germany. <br> <br>______________ <br> <br>I'd like too see the opinions of the Dutch before I completely change my mind though.
