b179193e87 Remove HAVE_LIBPSAPI, HAVE_SHELL32.
These used to be set in the old autoconf build, but the cmake build has had a
"TODO: actually check for these" comment since it was checked in, and they
were set to 1 on mingw unconditionally. It seems safe to say that they always
exist under mingw, so just remove them and assume they're set exactly when on
mingw (with msvc, we use `pragma comment` instead of linking these via flags).

These should exist in all toolchains LLVM supports nowadays.

Enables making DataTypes.h a regular header instead of a .h.cmake file and

All the code this removes is 9+ years old.

This is needed so that external projects (e.g. a standalone build of

984a615c7c Re-commit: Make STATISTIC() values available programmatically
Summary:
It can be useful for tools to be able to retrieve the values of variables
declared via STATISTIC() directly without having to emit them and parse
them back. Use cases include:
* Needing to report specific statistics to a test harness
* Wanting to post-process statistics. For example, to produce a percentage of
functions that were fully selected by GlobalISel

Make this possible by adding llvm::GetStatistics() which returns an
iterator_range that can be used to inspect the statistics that have been
touched during execution. When statistics are disabled (NDEBUG and not
LLVM_ENABLE_STATISTICS) this method will return an empty range.

This patch doesn't address the effect of multiple compilations within the same
process. In such situations, the statistics will be cumulative for all
compilations up to the GetStatistics() call.

This re-commit fixes a missing include of <vector> which it seems clang didn't
mind but G++ and MSVC objected to. It seems that, clang was ok with std::vector
only being forward declared at the point of use since it was fully defined
eventually but G++/MSVC both rejected it at the point of use.

b7e38c5c8a [CMake] Add LLVM_ENABLE_IDE option to better process sources for IDE's
Summary:
Currently LLVM has no way to support configuring for IDE's like CLion. Like XCode and MSVC's IDE, CLion needs to see all of the headers and tablegen files in order to properly parse the sources.

This patch adds an `LLVM_ENABLE_IDE` option which can be used to configure for IDE's in general. It is used by `LLVMProcessSources.cmake` to determine if the extra source files should be added to the target.

Unfortunately because of the low level of `LLVMProcessSources.cmake`, I'm not sure where the `LLVM_ENABLE_IDE` option should live. I choose `HandleLLVMOptions.cmake` so that out-of-tree Clang builds would correctly configure the option by default.

14e8aee42a [cmake] Use symlinks for Windows-hosted toolchains built on Unix
When cross-compiling for Windows on Unix, the built toolchain will need
to be transferred to Windows to actually run. My opinion is that the
Unix build should use symlinks, and the transfer to Windows should take
care of making those symlinks usable. E.g., I envision tarballs to be a
common form of transfer from Unix to Windows, in which case the tarball
can be created using --dereference to follow the symlinks.

The motivation here is that, when cross-compiling for Windows on Unix,
the installation will *already* create symlinks. The reason is that the
installation script will be invoked without knowing the host system, so
the `if(UNIX)` check in the installation symlink creation script will
reflect the build system rather than the host system. We could either
make the build and install trees both contain copies or both contain
symlinks, and using symlinks is a significant space saving without (in
my opinion) having any detrimental effect on the usage of the cross-
compiled toolchain on Windows.

A secondary motivation is that Windows 10 version 1703 and later finally
lift the administrator rights requirement for creating symbolic links
(if the system is in Developer Mode), which makes symlinks a lot more
practical even on Windows. Of course Unix and Windows symlinks aren't
interoperable, but symlinks for Windows toolchains is a reasonable
future direction to be going in anyway.

743ca2d884 [cmake] Pass TARGETS_TO_BUILD through to host tools build
In r319620, the host build was changed to use Native for
TARGETS_TO_BUILD because passing semicolons through add_custom_command
is surprisingly difficult. However, Native really doesn't make any
sense here, and it only works because we don't technically do any
codegen in the host tools so pretty well anything will "work".

The problem here is that passing something other than the correct
value is very fragile - as evidence note how the llvm-config in the
host tools acts differently than the target one now, and misreports
the targets to build. Similarly, if there is any logic conditional on
the targets in tablegen (now or in the future), it will do the wrong
thing.

To fix this, we need to escape the semicolons in the targets string
and pass it through to the child cmake invocation.

fd8c611447 [cmake] Make setting of CMAKE_C(XX)_COMPILER flags overridable for cross-builds
Summary:
r319898 made it possible to override these variables via the
CROSS_TOOLCHAIN_FLAGS setting, but this only worked if one explicitly
specifies these variables there. If, instead, one uses
CROSS_TOOLCHAIN_FLAGS to specify a toolchain file (as our internal
builds do, to point cmake to a checked-in toolchain), the
CMAKE_C(XX)_COMPILER flags would still win over the ones specified by
the toolchain file.

To fix is to make the mere presence of these flags overridable. I do
this by putting them as a default value for the CROSS_TOOLCHAIN_FLAGS
setting, so they can be overridden at cmake configuration time.

b8543cbaec [cmake] Remove unnecessary header include in atomics check
The header include was required to work around PR19898, as noted in that
comment. That PR has since been marked resolved fixed, and the
configuration check passes without the header inclusion both when
compiling on Windows with cl and when cross-compiling on Linux using

I noticed this because the inclusion was cased incorrectly (Intrin.h
instead of intrin.h), which when cross-compiling on a case sensitive
file system would cause the intrin.h from the Windows SDK to be included
(which LLVM can't handle) instead of the one from clang's resource
directory, making the check fail. This is the same issue as r309980.
Correcting the case of the inclusion makes the check pass when cross

since it appears to be unnecessary now.

d81bfe1cb8 [CMake] Use PRIVATE in target_link_libraries for executables
We currently use target_link_libraries without an explicit scope

Dependencies added in this way apply to both the target and its

and are transitive.

Transitive dependencies generally don't make sense for executables,
since you wouldn't normally be linking against an executable. This also
causes issues for generating install export files when using
LLVM_DISTRIBUTION_COMPONENTS. For example, clang has a lot of LLVM
library dependencies, which are currently added as interface
dependencies. If clang is in the distribution components but the LLVM
libraries it depends on aren't (which is a perfectly legitimate use case
if the LLVM libraries are being built static and there are therefore no
run-time dependencies on them), CMake will complain about the LLVM
libraries not being in export set when attempting to generate the
install export file for clang. This is reasonable behavior on CMake's
part, and the right thing is for LLVM's build system to explicitly use
PRIVATE dependencies for executables.

Unfortunately, CMake doesn't allow you to mix and match the keyword and
non-keyword target_link_libraries signatures for a single target; i.e.,
if a single call to target_link_libraries for a particular target uses
one of the INTERFACE, PRIVATE, or PUBLIC keywords, all other calls must
also be updated to use those keywords. This means we must do this change
in a single shot. I also fully expect to have missed some instances; I
tested by enabling all the projects in the monorepo (except dragonegg),
and configuring both with and without shared libraries, on both Darwin
and Linux, but I'm planning to rely on the buildbots for other
configurations (since it should be pretty easy to fix those).

Even after this change, we still have a lot of target_link_libraries
calls that don't specify a scope keyword, mostly for shared libraries.
I'm thinking about addressing those in a follow-up, but that's a
separate change IMO.

d9438e5fb6 Re-commit "[cmake] Enable zlib support on windows"
This recommits r319533 which was broken llvm-config --system-libs
output. The reason was that I used find_libraries for searching for the
z library. This returns absolute paths, and when these paths made it
into llvm-config, it made it produce nonsensical flags. To fix this, I
hand-roll a search for the library in the same way that we search for
the terminfo library a couple of lines below.

This is a bit less flexible than the find_library option, as it does not
allow the user to specify the path to the library at configure time
(which is important on windows, as zlib is unlikely to be found in any
of the standard places cmake searches), but I was able to guide the
build to find it with appropriate values of LIB and INCLUDE environment
variables.

bb1b6ae244 [llvm] Add stripped installation targets
CMake's generated installation scripts support `CMAKE_INSTALL_DO_STRIP`
to enable stripping the installed binaries. LLVM's build system doesn't
expose this option to the `install-` targets, but it's useful in
conjunction with `install-distribution`.

Add a new function to create the install targets, which creates both the
regular install target and a second install target that strips during
installation. Change the creation of all installation targets to use
this new function. Stripping doesn't make a whole lot of sense for some
installation targets (e.g. the LLVM headers), but consistency doesn't
hurt.

I'll make other repositories (e.g. clang, compiler-rt) use this in a
follow-up, and then add an `install-distribution-stripped` target to
actually accomplish the end goal of creating a stripped distribution. I
don't want to do that step yet because the creation of that target would
depend on the presence of the `install-*-stripped` target for each
distribution component, and the distribution components from other
repositories will be missing that target right now.

6d3f09db6e [cmake] Pass -Wl,-z,nodelete on Linux to prevent unloading
Prevent unloading shared libraries on Linux when dlclose() is called.
This is necessary since command-line option parsing API relies on
registering the global option instances in the option parser instance
which can be loaded in a different shared library.

Given that we can't reliably remove those options when a library is
unloaded, the parser ends up containing dangling references. Since glibc
has relatively complex library unloading rules, some of the LLVM
libraries can be unloaded while others (including the Support library)
stay loaded causing quite a mayhem. To reliably prevent that, just
forbid unloading all libraries -- it's a very bad idea anyway.

While the issue arguably happens only with BUILD_SHARED_LIBS, it may
affect any library reusing llvm::cl interface.

f521e30212 [globalisel][tablegen] Generate rule coverage and use it to identify untested rules
Summary:
This patch adds a LLVM_ENABLE_GISEL_COV which, like LLVM_ENABLE_DAGISEL_COV,
causes TableGen to instrument the generated table to collect rule coverage
information. However, LLVM_ENABLE_GISEL_COV goes a bit further than
LLVM_ENABLE_DAGISEL_COV. The information is written to files
(${CMAKE_BINARY_DIR}/gisel-coverage-* by default). These files can then be
concatenated into ${LLVM_GISEL_COV_PREFIX}-all after which TableGen will
read this information and use it to emit warnings about untested rules.

This technique could also be used by SelectionDAG and can be further
extended to detect hot rules and give them priority over colder rules.

Usage:
* Enable LLVM_ENABLE_GISEL_COV in CMake
* Build the compiler and run some tests
* cat gisel-coverage-[0-9]* > gisel-coverage-all
* Delete lib/Target/*/*GenGlobalISel.inc*
* Build the compiler

Known issues:
* ${LLVM_GISEL_COV_PREFIX}-all must be generated as a manual
step due to a lack of a portable 'cat' command. It should be the
  concatenation of all ${LLVM_GISEL_COV_PREFIX}-[0-9]* files.
* There's no mechanism to discard coverage information when the ruleset
  changes

`check_linker_flags` currently sets the *compiler* flags (via
`CMAKE_REQUIRED_FLAGS`), and thus implicitly relies on cmake's default
behavior of passing the compiler flags to the linker. This breaks when
cmake's build rules have been altered to not pollute the link line with
compiler flags (which can be desirable for build cleanliness). Instead,
set `CMAKE_EXE_LINKER_FLAGS` explicitly and use `CMP0056` to ensure the
linker flags are passed along. Additionally, since we're inside a
function, we can just alter the variable directly (as the alteration
will be limited to the scope of the function) rather than saving and

gtest depends on this #define to determine whether it can

the `__cplusplus` macro, but MSVC provides a non-conformant
value of this macro, making it effectively impossible to detect
C++11. In short, LLVM compiled with MSVC has been silently
using the tr1 versions of several classes since the beginning of
time.

This would normally be pretty benign, except that in the latest
preview of MSVC they have marked all of the tr1 classes
deprecated, so it spews thousands of warnings.

Unfortunately, llvm-rc isn't quite there yet [1], and cmake's rc
invocation only works on Windows [2]. Until both those issues are
addressed, disable resource file usage on non-Windows build hosts, to
unblock Windows cross-compilation. This is also consistent with the
existing comment, which says "If *on Windows* and building with MSVC".

93cdde161f [lit] Add a test for the builtin config map.
Config map is not exposed through the command line, so testing this
is somewhat tricky. But basically we need a test that if a custom
driver builds a config map and passes it to main, it gets respected.

A config map allows config files in the source tree to be mapped
to alternate config files in the build tree. This particular test
works by having two config files in separate directories, and
setting up a config map to have that redirects A/lit.site.cfg
to B/altconfig. Then, we print a message in A/lit.site.cfg
and B/altconfig and check that we do see the output from B
but don't see the output from A. Additionally we test that
the test suite specified by A's config map is properly discovered.

The fixes incorporated here attempt to find llvm/utils/llvm-lit
from the source tree returned by llvm-config. If present, it
will generate llvm-lit into the output directory. Regardless,
the user can specify -DLLVM_EXTERNAL_LIT to point to a specific
lit.py on their file system. This supports the use case of
someone installing lit via a package manager. If it cannot find
a source tree, and -DLLVM_EXTERNAL_LIT is either unspecified or

2fadf8bf73 [lit] Force site configs to be run before source-tree configs
This patch simplifies LLVM's lit infrastructure by enforcing an ordering
that a site config is always run before a source-tree config.

A significant amount of the complexity from lit config files arises from
the fact that inside of a source-tree config file, we don't yet know if
the site config has been run. However it is *always* required to run
a site config first, because it passes various variables down through
CMake that the main config depends on. As a result, every config
file has to do a bunch of magic to try to reverse-engineer the location
of the site config file if they detect (heuristically) that the site
config file has not yet been run.

This patch solves the problem by emitting a mapping from source tree
config file to binary tree site config file in llvm-lit.py. Then, during
discovery when we find a config file, we check to see if we have a
target mapping for it, and if so we use that instead.

This mechanism is generic enough that it does not affect external users
of lit. They will just not have a config mapping defined, and everything
will work as normal.

On the other hand, for us it allows us to make many simplifications:

* We are guaranteed that a site config will be executed first
* Inside of a main config, we no longer have to assume that attributes
might not be present and use getattr everywhere.
* We no longer have to pass parameters such as --param llvm_site_config=<path>
  on the command line.
* It is future-proof, meaning you don't have to edit llvm-lit.in to add
  support for new projects.
* All of the duplicated logic of trying various fallback mechanisms of
finding a site config from the main config are now gone.

One potentially noteworthy thing that was required to implement this
change is that whereas the ninja check targets previously used the first
method to spawn lit, they now use the second. In particular, you can no
longer run lit.py against the source tree while specifying the various
`foo_site_config=<path>` parameters. Instead, you need to run
llvm-lit.py.

This was intended to be a generic CMake solution to a problem
shared across several projects. It turns out it doesn't interact

"problem" is actually not a problem, as the problematic code
is never executed to begin with. So this really isn't solving
anything.

8756b4c9f1 Determine up front which projects are enabled.
Some projects need to add conditional dependencies on other projects.
compiler-rt is already doing this, and I attempted to add this to
debuginfo-tests when I ran into the ordering problem, that you can't
conditionally add a dependency unless that dependency's CMakeLists.txt
has already been run (which would allow you to say if (TARGET foo).

The solution to this seems to be to determine very early on the entire
set of projects which is enabled. This is complicated by the fact that
there are multiple ways to enable projects, and different tree layouts
(e.g. mono-repo, out of -tree, external, etc). This patch attempts to
centralize all of this into one place, and then updates compiler-rt to
demonstrate as a proof of concept how this can simplify code.

6b3d855c39 [CMake] Update GetSVN.cmake to handle repo
Summary:
When repo is used with git, 'clang --version' option does not display
the correct revision information (i.e. git hash on TOP) as the following:

clang version 6.0.0 --->
clang version 6.0.0 (clang version) (llvm version)

This is because repo also creates .git/svn folder as git-svn does and
this makes repo with git uses "git svn info" command, which is only for
git-svn, to retrieve its revision information, making null for the info.
To correctly distinguish between git-svn and repo with git, the folder
hierarchy to specify for git-svn should be .git/svn/refs as the "git svn
info" command depends on the revision data in .git/svn/refs. This patch
in turn makes repo with git passes through to the third macro,
get_source_info_git, in get_source_info function, resulting in correctly
retrieving the revision information for repo with git using "git log ..."
command.

This patch is tested with git, svn, git-svn, and repo with git.

debe176873 [CMake][LLVM] Remove duplicated library mask. Broken clang linking against clangShared
Summary:
The `LLVM${c}Info` mask is listed twice in LLVM-Config.cmake. This results in the libraries such as LLVMARMInfo, LLVMAArch4Info, etc appearing twice in `extract_symbols.py` command line while building `clangShared`. `Extract_symbols.py` does not work well in such a case and completely ignores the symbols from the duplicated libraries. Thus, the LLVM(...)Info symbols do not get exported from `clangShared` and linking clang against it fails with unresolved dependencies.

Seems to be a mere copy-paste mistake.

2866fad7f3 [cmake] GetSVN.cmake takes a list of arguments
Summary:
GetSVN.cmake currently takes one or two pairs of <source directory path,
name>, then attempts to get the remote repository URL and source control
revision of the repositories at those one or two paths.

It takes two pairs in order for Clang to get the revision of both
itself, and its dependency LLVM.

For projects that rely upon both LLVM and Clang (Apple's Swift is one
example, but there are others), GetSVN.cmake is used to fetch *three*
revisions: Swift, Clang, and LLVM.

To support this use case, change GetSVN.cmake: instead of taking one or
two pairs (specified via `FIRST_SOURCE_DIR`/`FIRST_NAME`, have it take a list
of pairs (`SOURCE_DIRS`/`NAMES`).

In order to allow Clang to migrate, have GetSVN.cmake support both sets
of arguments for now. The old arguments can be removed once Clang begins
using the new arguments, and Swift can follow when it updates its
copy of LLVM.

Test Plan:
1. Perform a clean build of Clang, verify that `clang --version` still
prints the correct LLVM and Clang revision information.
2. Modify Clang's CMake to use the new arguments, then perform another
clean build. `clang --version` should still print the correct
   revision information.

Summary:
This patch adds a very simple linker script to version the lib's symbols
and thus trying to avoid crashes if an application loads two different
LLVM versions (as long as they do not share data between them).

Note that we deliberately *don't* make LLVM_5.0 depend on LLVM_4.0:
they're incompatible and the whole point of this patch is
to tell the linker that.

Avoid unexpected crashes when two LLVM versions are used in the same process.

1553cd1af6 Support: Add a VCSRevision.h header file.
This is a magic header file supported by the build system that provides a
single definition, LLVM_REVISION, containing an LLVM revision identifier,
if available. This functionality previously lived in the LTO library, but
I am moving it out to lib/Support because I want to also start using it in
lib/Object to create the IR symbol table.

This change also fixes a bug where LLVM_REVISION was never actually being
used in lib/LTO because the macro HAS_LLVM_REVISION was never defined (it
was misspelled as HAVE_SVN_VERSION_INC in lib/LTO/CMakeLists.txt, and was
only being defined in a non-existent file Version.cpp).

I also changed the code to use "git rev-parse --git-dir" to locate the .git
directory, instead of looking for it in the LLVM source root directory,
which makes this compatible with monorepos as well as git worktrees.

CMake variable LLVM_DEFINITIONS collects preprocessor definitions provided
for host compiler that builds llvm components. A function
add_llvm_definitions was introduced in AddLLVMDefinitions.cmake to keep
track of these definitions and was intended to be a replacement for CMake
command add_definitions. Actually in many cases add_definitions is still
used and the content of LLVM_DEFINITIONS is not actual now. On the other
hand the current version of CMake allows getting set of definitions in a
more convenient way. This fix implements evaluation of the variable by
reading corresponding cmake property.

add_llvm_utility which adds another install target.

Configuring with -DLLVM_TOOLS_INSTALL_DIR set to something other than
'bin' along with -DLLVM_INSTALL_UTILS=ON was causing llvm-tablgen
to be installed to two separate directories.

144efa4313 [X86][AVX512] Adding new LLVM TableGen backend which generates the EVEX2VEX compressing tables.
X86EvexToVex machine instruction pass compresses EVEX encoded instructions by replacing them with their identical VEX encoded instructions when possible.
It uses manually supported 2 large tables that map the EVEX instructions to their VEX ideticals.
This TableGen backend replaces the tables by automatically generating them.

b0fef6ac31 CMake: Clean up VersionFromVCS.cmake
Summary:
Fix a few problems in VersionFromVCS.cmake to make it more reliable:

- Stop using git svn info to retrieve the svn revision. I am unable to
determine what the svn revision returned by this command means.
During my testing this command returned a revision from a month
ago which was not the HEAD of any of my local branches.

Also, this revision was never actually added to the version string due
to a typo in the script. All it was used for was to reject the
revision number returned by git svn find-rev HEAD when the revision
  numbers didn't match.

- Populate GIT_COMMIT even when we detect a git repo without any
  svn information.

a41054c917 enable building with LTO on Windows using clang-cl and lld
Summary: With clang-cl gaining support for link-time optimization, we can now enable builds using LTO when using clang-cl and lld on Windows. To do this, we must not pass the -flto flag to the linker; lld-link does not understand it, but will perform LTO automatically when it encounters bitcode files. We also don't pass /Brepro when using LTO - the compiler doesn't generate object files for LTO, so passing the flag would only result in a warning about it being unused.

b85f17369e [Support] Provide linux/magic.h fallback for older kernels
The function for distinguishing local and remote files added in r295768
unconditionally uses linux/magic.h header to provide necessary
filesystem magic numbers. However, in kernel headers predating 2.6.18
the magic numbers are spread throughout multiple include files.
Furthermore, LLVM did not require kernel headers being installed so far.

To increase the portability across different versions of Linux kernel
and different Linux systems, add CMake header checks for linux/magic.h
and -- if it is missing -- the linux/nfs_fs.h and linux/smb.h headers
which contained the numbers previously.

Furthermore, since the numbers are static and the feature does not seem
critical enough to make LLVM require kernel headers at all, add fallback
constants for the case when none of the necessary headers is available.
