b26db09ccf IAS: correct debug line info for asm macros
Correct the line information generation for preprocessed assembly. Although we
tracked the source information for the macro instantiation, we failed to account
for the fact that we were instantiating a macro, which is populated into a new
buffer and that the line information would be relative to the definition rather
than the actual instantiation location. This could cause the line number
associated with the statement to be very high due to wrapping of the difference
calculated for the preprocessor line information emitted into the stream.
Properly calculate the line for the macro instantiation, referencing the line
where the macro is actually used as GCC/gas do.

The test case uses x86, though the same problem exists on any other target using
the LLVM IAS.

eecdfef0b6 Fix Windows unwind info for functions in sections other than .text
Previously we assumed the section name had the form .text$foo, which is
what we used to do for inline functions. If the dollar wasn't present,
we'd put unwind data in the .pdata and .xdata sections for the main
.text section, which is incorrect.

7499cbae4c Remove StringMap::GetOrCreateValue in favor of StringMap::insert
Having two ways to do this doesn't seem terribly helpful and
consistently using the insert version (which we already has) seems like
it'll make the code easier to understand to anyone working with standard
data structures. (I also updated many references to the Entry's
key and value to use first() and second instead of getKey{Data,Length,}
and get/setValue - for similar consistency)

Also removes the GetOrCreateValue functions so there's less surface area
to StringMap to fix/improve/change/accommodate move semantics, etc.

10f65de3be Pass an ArrayRef to MCDisassembler::getInstruction.
With this patch MCDisassembler::getInstruction takes an ArrayRef<uint8_t>
instead of a MemoryObject.

Even on X86 there is a maximum size an instruction can have. Given
that, it seems way simpler and more efficient to just pass an ArrayRef
to the disassembler instead of a MemoryObject and have it do a virtual
call every time it wants some extra bytes.

4f73e3c4b9 MC, COFF: Use relocations for function references inside the section
Referencing one symbol from another in the same section does not
generally require a relocation. However, the MS linker has a feature
called /INCREMENTAL which enables incremental links. It achieves this
by creating thunks to the actual function and redirecting all
relocations to point to the thunk.

This breaks down with the old scheme if you have a function which
references, say, itself. On x86_64, we would use %rip relative
addressing to reference the start of the function from out current
position. This would lead to miscompiles because other references might
reference the thunk instead, breaking function pointer equality.

This fixes PR21520.

c14da7456a Emit .eh_frame with relocations to functions, rather than sections
When LLVM emits DWARF call frame information, it currently creates a local,
section-relative symbol in the code section, which is pointed to by a
relocation on the .eh_frame section. However, for C++ we emit some functions in
section groups, and the SysV ABI has some rules to make it easier to remove
these sections
(http://www.sco.com/developers/gabi/latest/ch4.sheader.html#section_group_rules):

A symbol table entry with STB_LOCAL binding that is defined relative to one
of a group's sections, and that is contained in a symbol table section that is
not part of the group, must be discarded if the group members are discarded.
References to this symbol table entry from outside the group are not allowed.

This means that we need to use the function symbol for the relocation, not a
temporary symbol.

There was a comment in the code claiming that the local symbol was used to
avoid creating a relocation, but a relocation must be created anyway as the
code and CFI are in different sections.

c767cbf942 [MC] Attach labels to existing fragments instead of using a separate fragment
Summary:
Currently when emitting a label, a new data fragment is created for it if the
current fragment isn't a data fragment.
This change instead enqueues the label and attaches it to the next fragment
(e.g. created for the next instruction) if possible.

When bundle alignment is not enabled, this has no functionality change (it
just results in fewer extra fragments being created). For bundle alignment,
previously labels would point to the beginning of the bundle padding instead
of the beginning of the emitted instruction. This was not only less efficient
(e.g. jumping to the nops instead of past them) but also led to miscalculation
of the address of the GOT (since MC uses a label difference rather than
emitting a "." symbol).

62145bfaad Add back commits r219835 and a fixed version of r219829.
The only difference from r219829 is using

getOrCreateSectionSymbol(*ELFSec)

instead of

GetOrCreateSymbol(ELFSec->getSectionName())

in ELFObjectWriter which causes us to use the correct section symbol even if
we have multiple sections with the same name.

Original messages:

r219829:
Correctly handle references to section symbols.

When processing assembly like

.long .text

we were creating a new undefined symbol .text. GAS on the other hand would
handle that as a reference to the .text section.

This patch implements that by creating the section symbols earlier so that
they are visible during asm parsing.

d3c4c6b289 [MC] Make bundle alignment mode setting idempotent and support nested bundles
Summary:
Currently an error is thrown if bundle alignment mode is set more than once
per module (either via the API or the .bundle_align_mode directive). This
change allows setting it multiple times as long as the alignment doesn't
change.

Also nested bundle_lock groups are currently not allowed. This change allows
them, with the effect that the group stays open until all nests are exited,
and if any of the bundle_lock directives has the align_to_end flag, the
group becomes align_to_end.

These changes make the bundle aligment simpler to use in the compiler, and
also better match the corresponding support in GNU as.

0146a46121 MC: Support aligned COMMON symbols for COFF
link.exe:
Fuzz testing has shown that COMMON symbols with size > 32 will always
have an alignment of at least 32 and all symbols with size < 32 will
have an alignment of at least the largest power of 2 less than the size
of the symbol.

binutils:
The BFD linker essentially work like the link.exe behavior but with
alignment 4 instead of 32. The BFD linker also supports an extension to
COFF which adds an -aligncomm argument to the .drectve section which
permits specifying a precise alignment for a variable but MC currently
doesn't support editing .drectve in this way.

With all of this in mind, we decide to play a little trick: we can
ensure that the alignment will be respected by bumping the size of the
global to it's alignment.

A problem with our old behavior becomes observable under x86-64 COFF

579f5bb06a MC: Add support for BigObj
Teach WinCOFFObjectWriter how to write -mbig-obj style object files;
these object files allow for more sections inside an object file.

Our support for BigObj is notably different from binutils and cl: we
implicitly upgrade object files to BigObj instead of asking the user to
compile the same file *again* but with another flag. This matches up
with how LLVM treats ELF variants.

This was tested by forcing LLVM to always emit BigObj files and running
the entire test suite. A specific test has also been added.

I've lowered the maximum number of sections in a normal COFF file,
VS "14" CTP 3 supports no more than 65279 sections. This is important
otherwise we might not switch to BigObj quickly enough, leaving us with
a COFF file that we couldn't link.

yaml2obj support is all that remains to implement.

6dd8f341ed Object: Add support for bigobj
This adds support for reading the "bigobj" variant of COFF produced by
cl's /bigobj and mingw's -mbig-obj.

The most significant difference that bigobj brings is more than 2**16
sections to COFF.

bigobj brings a few interesting differences with it:
- It doesn't have a Characteristics field in the file header.
- It doesn't have a SizeOfOptionalHeader field in the file header (it's
  only used in executable files).
- Auxiliary symbol records have the same width as a symbol table entry.
Since symbol table entries are bigger, so are auxiliary symbol
  records.

Write support will come soon.

537b499a27 Nuke MCAnalysis.
The code is buggy and barely tested. It is also mostly boilerplate.
(This includes MCObjectDisassembler, which is the interface to that
functionality)

Following an IRC discussion with Jim Grosbach, it seems sensible to just
nuke the whole lot of functionality, and dig it up from VCS if
necessary (I hope not!).

All of this stuff appears to have been added in a huge patch dump (look
at the timeframe surrounding e.g. r182628) where almost every patch
seemed to be untested and not reviewed before being committed.
Post-review responses to the patches were never addressed. I don't think
any of it would have passed pre-commit review.

I doubt anyone is depending on this, since this code appears to be
extremely buggy. In limited testing that Michael Spencer and I did, we
couldn't find a single real-world object file that wouldn't crash the
CFG reconstruction stuff. The symbolizer stuff has O(n^2) behavior and
so is not much use to anyone anyway. It seemed simpler to remove them as
a whole. Most of this code is boilerplate, which is the only way it was
able to scrape by 60% coverage.

HEADSUP: Modules folks, some files I nuked were referenced from
include/llvm/module.modulemap; I just deleted the references. Hopefully
that is the right fix (one was a FIXME though!).

28c7be6585 [MC] Pass MCSymbolData to needsRelocateWithSymbol
As discussed in a previous checking to support the .localentry

on that symbol's st_other bits.

Currently, needsRelocateWithSymbol does not get the target symbol.
However, it is directly available to its sole caller. This patch
therefore simply extends the needsRelocateWithSymbol by a new
parameter "const MCSymbolData &SD", passes in the target symbol,
and updates all derived implementations.

In particular, in the PowerPC implementation, this patch removes
the FIXME added by the previous checkin.

569d73691e MC: support different sized constants in constant pools
On AArch64 the pseudo instruction ldr <reg>, =... supports both
32-bit and 64-bit constants. Add support for 64 bit constants for
the pools to support the pseudo instruction fully.

Changes the AArch64 ldr-pseudo tests to use 32-bit registers and
adds tests with 64-bit registers.

86c034e0ff MC: correct DWARF header for PE/COFF assembly input
The header contains an offset to the DWARF abbreviations for the CU. The offset
must be section relative for COFF and absolute for others. The non-assembly
code path for the DWARF header generation already had the correct emission for
the headers. This corrects just the assembly path. Due to the invalid
relocation, processing of the debug information would halt previously on the
first assembly input as the associated abbreviations would be out of range as
they would have the location increased by image base and the section offset.

the Windows NT unwinding model.

d45105fbb4 MC: rename EmitWin64EH routines
Rename the routines to reflect the reality that they are more related to call
frame information than to Win64 EH. Although EH is implemented in an intertwined
manner by augmenting with an exception handler and an associated parameter, the
majority of these routines emit information required to unwind the frames. This
also helps identify that these routines are generic for most windows platforms
(they apply equally to nearly all architectures except x86) although the
encoding of the information is architecture dependent.

Unwinding data is emitted via EmitWinCFI* and exception handling information via
EmitWinEH*.

fd9ead3b6f Introduce a string_ostream string builder facilty
string_ostream is a safe and efficient string builder that combines opaque
stack storage with a built-in ostream interface.

small_string_ostream<bytes> additionally permits an explicit stack storage size
other than the default 128 bytes to be provided. Beyond that, storage is
transferred to the heap.

This convenient class can be used in most places an
std::string+raw_string_ostream pair or SmallString<>+raw_svector_ostream pair
would previously have been used, in order to guarantee consistent access
without byte truncation.

The patch also converts much of LLVM to use the new facility. These changes
include several probable bug fixes for truncated output, a programming error
that's no longer possible with the new interface.

This patch enables LLVM to emit Win64-native unwind info rather than

Because the unwind info is not flexible enough to describe stack frames

stack realignment, I modified register spilling code to place all spills
into the fixed frame slots, so that they can be accessed relative to the
frame pointer.

d7e194fe98 MC: adjust text section flags for WoA
Correct the section flags for code built for Windows on ARM with
`-ffunction-sections`. Windows on ARM uses solely Thumb-2 instructions, and
indicates that the function is thumb by placing it in a text section that has
IMAGE_SCN_MEM_16BIT flag set.

When we encounter a .section directive, a new section is constructed. This may
be a text segment. In order to identify that we need the additional flag,
expose the target triple through the ObjectFileInfo as this information is lost
otherwise.

Since any modern ARM targeting environment on Windows would be Thumb-2 (Windows
ARM NT or Windows Embedded Compact), introducing a new flag to indicate the
section attribute seems to be a bit overkill. Simply depend on the target
triple. Since there is one location that this information is currently needed,
creating a target specific assembly parser and delegating the parsing of section
switches also feels a bit heavy handed. If it turns out that this information
ends up changing additional behaviour, then it may be worth considering that
alternative.

newer CIE version when we are emitting DWARF 3 or 4. This will not reduce
compatibility, as we already emit other DWARF3/4 features, and is worth doing as
the DWARF3 spec removed some ambiguities in the interpretation of call frame
information.

It also fixes a minor bug where the "return address" field of the CIE was
encoded as a ULEB128, which is only valid when the CIE version is 3. There are
no test changes for this, because (as far as I can tell) none of the platforms

the architecture. ARMv7 (Windows [NT] on ARM) has its own format.

This enumeration will become the differentiator once the windows EH emission
infrastructure is generalised, allowing us to emit the necessary unwinding
information for Windows on ARM.

65ee52dacd Revert "Patch by Ray Donnelly to print register names instead of numbers."
This reverts commit r206683.

The code was confusing SEH register numbers with DWARF register numbers.
The test case it was committed with was obviously incorrect. The
disassembler was roundtripping '.seh_pushreg %rsi' as '.seh_pushreg
%rbp', and other exciting things.

Noticed by Vadim Chugunov.

f670b953e7 AsmMatchers: Use unique_ptr to manage ownership of MCParsedAsmOperand
I saw at least a memory leak or two from inspection (on probably
untested error paths) and r206991, which was the original inspiration
for this change.

I ran this idea by Jim Grosbach a few weeks ago & he was OK with it.
Since it's a basically mechanical patch that seemed sufficient - usual

a72e0838ff MC: fix text section characteristics for WoA
link.exe requires that the text section has the IMAGE_SCN_MEM_16BIT flag set.
Otherwise, it will treat the function as ARM. If this occurs, then jumps to the
function will fail, switching from thumb to ARM mode execution.

With this change, it is possible to link using the MSVC linker as well.

4d36bdc570 MC: make ELF .type handling more GNU AS compatible
GAS documents the .type directive as having an optional comma following the key
symbol name when using the STT_<TYPE_IN_UPPER_CASE> form. However, it treats
the comma as optional in all cases. This makes the IAS support both forms of
inputs. Furthermore, the prefixed forms take either the upper case name or the
lower case alias.

The tests are split into two separate sets as the hash character serves as a
comment character on x86, which is tested in the second set by using arm-elf
which uses the at symbol as a comment character.

542dba4868 MC: prevent early DCE of empty sections
Prevent the early elimination of sections in the object writer. There may be
references to the section itself by other symbols, which may potentially not be
possible to resolve. ML (Visual Studio's Macro Assembler) also seems to retain
empty sections.

The elimination of symbols and sections which are unused should really occur at
the link phase. This will not cause any change in the resulting binary, simply
in the generated object files.

The adjustments to the other unit tests account for the fluctuating section
index caused by the appearance of sections which were previously discarded.

34f7950ebf Fix a few issues with comdat handling on COFF.
* Section association cannot use just the section name as many
sections can have the same name. With this patch, the comdat symbol in
an assoc section is interpreted to mean a symbol in the associated
section and the mapping is discovered from it.

* Comdat symbols were not being set correctly. Instead we were getting
whatever was output first for that section.

A consequence is that associative sections now must use .section to
set the association. Using .linkonce would not work since it is not
possible to change a sections comdat symbol (it is used to decide if
we should create a new section or reuse an existing one).

This includes r210298, which was reverted because it was asserting
on an associated section having the same comdat as the associated
section.

42b8fda4b1 Correctly set the comdat symbol on COFF.
We extended the .section syntax to allow multiple sections with the
same name but different comdats, but currently we don't make sure that
the output section has that comdat symbol.

That happens to work with the code llc produces currently because it looks like

.section secName, "dr", one_only, "COMDATSym"
.globl COMDATSym
COMDATSym:
....

but that is not very friendly to anyone coding in assembly or even to
llc once we get comdat support in the IR.

This patch changes the coff object writer to make sure the comdat symbol is
output just after the section symbol, as required by the coff spec.

ca0f4dc4f0 AArch64/ARM64: move ARM64 into AArch64's place
This commit starts with a "git mv ARM64 AArch64" and continues out

target-local objects for consistency.

"ARM64" test directories are also moved, and tests that began their
life in ARM64 use an arm64 triple, those from AArch64 use an aarch64
triple. Both should be equivalent though.

This finishes the AArch64 merge, and everyone should feel free to
