d2a8c29880 projects/sample: Import adapted form of current LLVM autoconf/Makefile setup so that projects/sample is standalone and not tied to the LLVM build setup. 
- This currently just moves over all of the behavior from LLVM. Eventually all of the configure checks that are directly needed by the LLVM build setup should probably go away, and the project should manage their own configuration checks if necessary.

 - This is the 1st half of this work, the actual Makefile.common hasn't moved over yet. I've tried to stage this in such a way that incremental builds will properly reconfigure for most active developers (the Makefiles don't handle reconfiguring in a perfectly reliable way, and I haven't found an easy way to make them do so).

b20fea2b07 Fix paths; AutoRegen.sh changes its current working directory to be the 
autoconf directory, but these paths need to be relative to the main
source directory.  Patch originally by Dan Gohman, r67655.

Also, cause configure.ac to find absolute paths to LLVM source and
object trees.   Together, fixes PR1220.

9524ef5cfa install-sh chmods to 0755 by default, and this causes 'git diff' to show 
that all the Makefiles changed mode.
Fix this by tellint install-sh to chmod
only to 0644, these are not executable files after all!

cc3a96959e Allow the test suite to be checked out into projects/test-suite. 
We will keep the old projects/llvm-test working for existing installs.

The changes to configure are made manually, since I lack autoconf-2.6. Someone
might want to run AutoGen.sh to see if that changes anything.

4428c3483b For PR950: 
This patch removes the SetCC instructions and replaces them with the ICmp
and FCmp instructions. The SetCondInst instruction has been removed and
been replaced with ICmpInst and FCmpInst.

4effa38086 Replacing std::iostreams with llvm iostreams. Some of these changes involve 
adding a temporary wrapper around the ostream to make it friendly to
functions expecting an LLVM stream. This should be fixed in the future.

992d9788b3 For PR950: 
The long awaited CAST patch. This introduces 12 new instructions into LLVM
to replace the cast instruction. Corresponding changes throughout LLVM are
provided. This passes llvm-test, llvm/test, and SPEC CPUINT2000 with the
exception of 175.vpr which fails only on a slight floating point output
difference.

da1f5b882a For PR950: 
This patch converts the old SHR instruction into two instructions,
AShr (Arithmetic) and LShr (Logical). The Shr instructions now are not

4bafa71dc1 For PR786: 
Turn on -Wunused and -Wno-unused-parameter. Clean up most of the resulting
fall out by removing unused variables. Remaining warnings have to do with
unused functions (I didn't want to delete code without review) and unused
variables in generated code. Maintainers should clean up the remaining
issues when they see them. All changes pass DejaGnu tests and Olden.

Make necessary changes to support DIV -> [SUF]Div. This changes llvm to
have three division instructions: signed, unsigned, floating point. The
bytecode and assembler are bacwards compatible, however.

3f5e3c843a For PR780: 
1. Change the usage of LOADABLE_MODULE so that it implies all the things
   necessary to make a loadable module. This reduces the user's burdern to
   get a loadable module correctly built.
2. Document the usage of LOADABLE_MODULE in the MakefileGuide
3. Adjust the makefile for lib/Transforms/Hello to use the new specification
   for building loadable modules
4. Adjust the sample project to not attempt to build a shared library for
   its little library. This was just wasteful and not instructive at all.

cf025eb201 For PR786: 
Turn -pedantic and -Wno-long-long compile flags on by default. In a few
places, avoid the warnings by removing these options in the local makefile.
One notable exception: lib/Target/CBackend/Writer.cpp. These warnings are
left on as a reminder to developers to clean them up.

87e24202fb Have the AutoRegen.sh script prompt the user for the LLVM src and obj 
directories if it can't find them. Then, replace those values into the
configure.ac script and pass them to the LLVM_CONFIG_PROJECT so that the
values become the default for llvm_src and llvm_obj variables. In this way
the user is required to input this exactly once, and the scripts take it
from there.

46a7fdeb66 Implement PR614: 
These changes modify the makefiles so that the output of flex and bison are
placed in the SRC directory, not the OBJ directory. It is intended that they
be checked in as any other LLVM source so that platforms without convenient
access to flex/bison can be compiled. From now on, if you change a .y or
.l file you *must* also commit the generated .cpp and .h files.

f57ef0e638 The previous hack didn't work because tools-only isn't defined and isn't 
a target at this level of build. There shouldn't be a problem with building
the runtime library without llvm-gcc because the Makefile.rules checks
for an empty LLVMGCC variable before building bytecode modules.

b56d560191 Remove auxilliary files that are now picked up from llvm/autoconf. This 
avoids version conflict problems with ltmain.sh (libtool), mkinstalldirs
and install-sh. This prevents projects from becoming stale when the LLVM
build system is upgraded or modified.

b15e5d340f Make the StackerCompiler and optimizing translator by running specific 
optimizations after construction of the Module. The OptLevel argument
to the compile function controls the level of optimization.

3d69a86cef Make the Stacker compiler handle -O1 .. -O5 options so it is compliant with 
the compiler driver interface as an optimizing translator. Also clean up

e728175f26 Correct the specification of the DIRS variable to not include the source 
directory prefix, just the name of the subdirectory. This prevents the
makefile from trying to find makefiles (like Makefile.common) in the wrong
place.

Move include/Config and include/Support into include/llvm/Config,
include/llvm/ADT and include/llvm/Support. From here on out, all LLVM
