dfefcbf53b PR37255: DebugInfo: LTO with -g inlined into -gmlt combined with Split DWARF without CU cross-references
A combination of features ^ that lead to a mismatch of expectations
about how a subprogram definition DIE would be produced with/without a
declaration when taking full -g debug info and inlining it into a -gmlt
CU - specifically when using Split DWARF that doesn't support cross-CU
references, so we have to put the -g debug info into the -gmlt CU, which
gets confusing about which mode is respected.

This patch comes down on respecting the CU the debug info is emitted
into, rather than preserving the full debug info when it's emitted into
the gmlt CU.

19cd3f5c02 DebugInfo: Deduplicate addresses in debug_addr
Experimental, using non-existent DWARF support to use an expr for the
location involving an addr_index (to compute address + offset so
addresses can be reused in more places).

The global variable debug info had to be deferred until the end of the
module (so bss variables would all be emitted first - so their labels
would have the relevant section). Non-bss variables seemed to not have
their label assigned to a section even at the end of the module, so I
didn't know what to do there.

Also, the hashing code is broken - doesn't know how to hash these
expressions (& isn't hashing anything inside subprograms, which seems
problematic), so for test purposes this change just skips the hash
computation. (GCC's actually overly sensitive in its hash function, it
seems - I'm forgetting the specific case right now - anyway, we might
want to just use the frontend-known file hash and give up on optimistic
.dwo/.dwp reuse)

8b9f3c8506 DWARFv5: Disable DW_OP_convert for configurations that don't yet support it
Testing reveals that lldb and gdb have some problems with supporting
DW_OP_convert - gdb with Split DWARF tries to resolve the CU-relative
DIE offset relative to the skeleton DIE. lldb tries to treat the offset
as absolute, which judging by the llvm-dsymutil support for
DW_OP_convert, I guess works OK in MachO? (though probably llvm-dsymutil
is producing invalid DWARF by resolving the relative reference to an
absolute one?).

Specifically this disables DW_OP_convert usage in DWARFv5 if:
* Tuning for GDB and using Split DWARF
* Tuning for LLDB and not targeting MachO

9241b8151b [DebugInfo][flang]Added support for representing Fortran assumed length strings
This patch adds support for representing Fortran `character(n)`.

Primarily patch is based out of D54114 with appropriate modifications.

Test case IR is generated using our downstream classic-flang. We're in process
of upstreaming flang PR's but classic-flang has dependencies on llvm, so
this has to get in first.

Patch includes functional test case for both IR and corresponding
dwarf, furthermore it has been manually tested as well using GDB.

Source snippet:
```
 program assumedLength
   call sub('Hello')
   call sub('Goodbye')
   contains
   subroutine sub(string)
           implicit none
           character(len=*), intent(in) :: string
           print *, string
   end subroutine sub
 end program assumedLength
```

GDB:
```
(gdb) ptype string
type = character (5)
(gdb) p string
$1 = 'Hello'
```

d0dc528032 Remove the obsolete BlockByRefStruct flag from LLVM IR
DIFlagBlockByRefStruct is an unused DIFlag that originally was used by
clang to express (Objective-)C block captures in debug info. For the
last year Clang has been emitting complex DIExpressions to describe
block captures instead, which makes all the code supporting this flag
redundant.

This patch removes the flag and all supporting "dead" code, so we can
reuse the bit for something else in the future.

Since this only affects debug info generated by Clang with the block
extension this mostly affects Apple platforms and I don't have any
bitcode compatibility concerns for removing this. The Verifier will
reject debug info that uses the bit and thus degrade gracefully when
LTO'ing older bitcode with a newer compiler.

cbbb59739c [DebugInfo] More strict debug range for stack variables
Variable's stack location can stretch longer than it should. If a
variable is placed at the stack in a some nested basic block its range
can be calculated to be up to the next occurrence of the variable's
DBG_VALUE, or up to the end of the function, thus covering a basic
blocks that should not be included in the variable’s location range.
This happens because the DbgEntityHistoryCalculator ends register
locations at the end of a basic block only if the variable’s location
register has been changed throughout the function, which is not the
case for the register used to reference stack objects.

This patch also tries to produce a single value location if the location
list builder managed to merge all the locations into one.

831ac1b049 DebugInfo: Emit only declarations (not whole definitions) of non-unit user defined types into type units
While this doesn't come up in reasonable cases currently (the only user
defined types not in type units are ones without linkage - which makes
for near-ODR violations, because it'd be a type with linkage referencing
a type without linkage - such a type can't be validly defined in more
than one TU, so arguably it shouldn't be in a type unit to begin with -
but it's a convenient way to demonstrate an issue that will become more
revalent with homed modular debug info type definitions - which also
don't need to be in type units but more legitimately so).

Precursor to the Clang change to de-type-unit (by omitting the
'identifier') types homed due to strong linkage vtables. (making that
change without this one would lead to major type duplication in type
units)

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header
entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the
Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach.

Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM
project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers
include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and
repository.

201ccd89a8 Recommit r348806: DebugInfo: Use symbol difference for CU length to simplify assembly reading/editing
Mucking about simplifying a test case ( https://reviews.llvm.org/D55261 ) I stumbled across something I've hit before - that LLVM's (GCC's does too, FWIW) assembly output includes a hardcode length for a DWARF unit in its header. Instead we could emit a label difference - making the assembly easier to read/edit (though potentially at a slight (I haven't tried to observe it) performance cost of delaying/sinking the length computation into the MC layer).

Fix: Predicated all the changes (including creating the labels, even if they aren't used/needed) behind the NVPTX useSectionsAsReferences, avoiding emitting labels in NVPTX where ptxas can't parse them.

the line table's list of files. This makes the line table more
independent of the .debug_info section.

Fixes the bug found by asan. Also XFAIL the new test for Darwin, which
is stuck on DWARF v2, and fix up other tests so they stop failing on
Windows. Last but not least, don't break "clang -g" of an assembler
file that has .file directives in it.

b179fb03be [DWARF] Suppress split line tables more carefully.
If a given split type unit does not have source locations, don't have
it refer to the split line table.
If no split type unit refers to the split line table, don't emit the
line table at all.

This will save a little space on rare occasions, but also refactors
things a bit to improve which class is responsible for what.

f2f2663d66 Revert "Reapply "[DWARFv5] Emit file 0 to the line table.""
This reverts commit r326839.

r326839 breaks assembly file parsing:

$ cat q.c
void g() {}
$ clang -S q.c -g
$ clang -g -c q.s
q.s:9:2: error: file number already allocated
     .file   1 "/tmp/test" "q.c"
