82b6e6053d llvmbuildectomy - replace llvm-build by plain cmake
No longer rely on an external tool to build the llvm component layout.

Instead, leverage the existing `add_llvm_componentlibrary` cmake function and
introduce `add_llvm_component_group` to accurately describe component behavior.

These function store extra properties in the created targets. These properties
are processed once all components are defined to resolve library dependencies
and produce the header expected by llvm-config.

69169b30b2 Update compiler extension integration into the build system
The approach here is to create a new (empty) component, `Extensions', where all
statically compiled extensions dynamically register their dependencies. That way
we're more natively compatible with LLVMBuild and llvm-config.

82b54aea79 Enable new passmanager plugin support for LTO.
This should make both static and dynamic NewPM plugins work with LTO.
And as a bonus, it makes static linking of OldPM plugins more reliable
for plugins with both an OldPM and NewPM interface.

I only implemented the command-line flag to specify NewPM plugins in
llvm-lto2, to show it works. Support can be added for other tools later.

28bf7f3536 [cmake] Explicitly mark libraries defined in lib/ as "Component Libraries"
Summary:
Most libraries are defined in the lib/ directory but there are also a
few libraries defined in tools/ e.g. libLLVM, libLTO.  I'm defining
"Component Libraries" as libraries defined in lib/ that may be included in
libLLVM.so.  Explicitly marking the libraries in lib/ as component
libraries allows us to remove some fragile checks that attempt to
differentiate between lib/ libraries and tools/ libraires:

1. In tools/llvm-shlib, because
llvm_map_components_to_libnames(LIB_NAMES "all") returned a list of
all libraries defined in the whole project, there was custom code
needed to filter out libraries defined in tools/, none of which should
be included in libLLVM.so.  This code assumed that any library
defined as static was from lib/ and everything else should be
excluded.

With this change, llvm_map_components_to_libnames(LIB_NAMES, "all")
only returns libraries that have been added to the LLVM_COMPONENT_LIBS
global cmake property, so this custom filtering logic can be removed.
Doing this also fixes the build with BUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON
and LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON.

2. There was some code in llvm_add_library that assumed that
libraries defined in lib/ would not have LLVM_LINK_COMPONENTS or
ARG_LINK_COMPONENTS set.  This is only true because libraries
defined lib lib/ use LLVMBuild.txt and don't set these values.
This code has been fixed now to check if the library has been
explicitly marked as a component library, which should now make it
easier to remove LLVMBuild at some point in the future.

I have tested this patch on Windows, MacOS and Linux with release builds
and the following combinations of CMake options:

- "" (No options)
- -DLLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON
- -DLLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB=ON
- -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON
- -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON -DLLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON
- -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=ON -DLLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB=ON

8482e48d19 [ThinLTO] Compute synthetic function entry count
Summary:
This patch computes the synthetic function entry count on the whole
program callgraph (based on module summary) and writes the entry counts
to the summary. After function importing, this count gets attached to
the IR as metadata. Since it adds a new field to the summary, this bumps
up the version.

1553cd1af6 Support: Add a VCSRevision.h header file.
This is a magic header file supported by the build system that provides a
single definition, LLVM_REVISION, containing an LLVM revision identifier,
if available. This functionality previously lived in the LTO library, but
I am moving it out to lib/Support because I want to also start using it in
lib/Object to create the IR symbol table.

This change also fixes a bug where LLVM_REVISION was never actually being
used in lib/LTO because the macro HAS_LLVM_REVISION was never defined (it
was misspelled as HAVE_SVN_VERSION_INC in lib/LTO/CMakeLists.txt, and was
only being defined in a non-existent file Version.cpp).

I also changed the code to use "git rev-parse --git-dir" to locate the .git
directory, instead of looking for it in the LLVM source root directory,
which makes this compatible with monorepos as well as git worktrees.

488842a066 [CMake] NFC. Updating CMake dependency specifications
This patch updates a bunch of places where add_dependencies was being explicitly called to add dependencies on intrinsics_gen to instead use the DEPENDS named parameter. This cleanup is needed for a patch I'm working on to add a dependency debugging mode to the build system.

691da67fd3 [cmake] Declare LLVM_CMAKE_PATH for use in subprojects
Declare the LLVM_CMAKE_PATH to the source directory location of CMake
files, in order to make it possible to easily use them in subprojects.
Such a variable is already declared in most of LLVM projects
(and inconsistently mixed with direct source tree references), including
Clang, LLDB, compiler-rt, libcxx... Declaring it inside main LLVM tree
makes it possible to avoid having to declare fallback values or use
conditionals in those projects.

It should be noted that in some of the subprojects LLVM_CMAKE_PATH is
used to reference generated LLVMConfig.cmake file. However, these
references are conditional to stand-alone builds and explicitly
including this file is unnecessary in combined builds.

54cea79c7b [ThinLTO] Add caching to the new LTO API
Add the ability to plug a cache on the LTO API.
I tried to write such that a linker implementation can
control the cache backend. This is intrusive and I'm
not totally happy with it, but I can't figure out a
better design right now.

bd574a6d8f Restore "Resolution-based LTO API."
This restores commit r278330, with fixes for a few bot failures:
- Fix a late change I had made to the save temps output file that I
  missed due to existing files sitting on my disk
- Fix a bunch of Windows bot failures with "ambiguous call to overloaded
  function" due to confusion between llvm::make_unique vs
  std::make_unique (preface the new make_unique calls with "llvm::")
- Attempt to fix a modules bot failure by adding a missing include
  to LTO/Config.h.

This introduces a resolution-based LTO API. The main advantage of this API over
existing APIs is that it allows the linker to supply a resolution for each
symbol in each object, rather than the combined object as a whole. This will
become increasingly important for use cases such as ThinLTO which require us
to process symbol resolutions in a more complicated way than just adjusting
linkage.

bots. Didn't realize this because I had older output files sitting on

9184fab6a9 [ThinLTO] Refactor module loader handling into new LTO file (NFC)
Moved the ModuleLoader and supporting helper loadModuleFromBuffer out of
ThinLTOCodeGenerator and into new LTO.h/LTO.cpp files. This is in
preparation for a patch that will utilize these in the gold-plugin.

Note that there are some other pending patches (D20268 and D20290) that
also plan to refactor common interfaces and functionality into this same
pair of new files.

5e6f018471 Add SVN version to libLLVMLTO
Summary: For Incremental LTO, we need to make sure that an old
cache entry is not used when incrementally re-linking with a new
libLTO.
Adding a global LLVM_REVISION in llvm-config.h would for to
rebuild/relink the world for every "git pull"/"svn update".
So instead only libLTO is made dependent on the VCS and will
be rebuilt (and the dependent binaries relinked, i.e. as of
today: libLTO.dylib and llvm-lto).

It is now only doing the update to the llvm.compiler_used global.
The client has to call separately the internalization stage.
Hopefully the code is simpler to understand this way.

f1caa14180 Refactor the Internalize stage of libLTO in a separate file (NFC)
This is intended to be shared by the ThinLTOCodeGenerator.

Note that there is a change in the way the verifier is run, previously
it was ran as a Pass on the merged module during internalization.
While now the verifier is called explicitely on the merged module
outside of the internalize "pass pipeline".

What remains strange in the API is the fact that `DisableVerify` in
the API does not disable this initial verifier.

ea71be934f libLTO: add a ThinLTOCodeGenerator on the model of LTOCodeGenerator.
This is intended to provide a parallel (threaded) ThinLTO scheme
for linker plugin use through the libLTO C API.

The intent of this patch is to provide a first implementation as a
proof-of-concept and allows linker to start supporting ThinLTO by
definiing the libLTO C API. Some part of the libLTO API are left
unimplemented yet. Following patches will add support for these.

The current implementation can link all clang/llvm binaries.
