GCC will accept any case for assembler directives. For example ".abort" and ".ABORT" (even ".aBoRt") are equivalent. https://sourceware.org/binutils/docs/as/Pseudo-Ops.html#Pseudo-Ops "The names are case insensitive for most targets, and usually written in lower case."
