Before installation

You need to own a copy of your both Driver 2 CDs to play the game.

For legal issues, project does not provide Driver 2 CD contents and you must obtain it by yourself.

Game version information

There are two known versions of the game which has little differences.

New installation method

Dump both of your Driver 2 CDs to ISO or BIN/CUE file (use CDMage or UltraISO)
Your game folder next referred as <your_redriver2_folder>
Download the latest release or artifact and extract it to <your_redriver2_folder>
Move CD1 and CD2 image files to <your_redriver2_folder>/install and rename them as Driver2CD1.bin and Driver2CD2.bin respectively
Make sure that config.ini section [cdfs] points to the right CD1 image file (example: image=install/Driver2CD1.bin)
Install latest Java runtime
Run _convert_cd_fmv_xa.bat and wait until completed
Run REDRIVER2

Old installation method

Dump both of your Driver 2 CDs to ISO or BIN/CUE file (use CDMage or UltraISO)
Extract only CD1 game ISO or BIN/CUE to your folder (next referred as <your_redriver2_folder>) on hard drive (example: "D:\Games\Driver 2") so it will look like this
If you have a PAL version, be sure to rename DRIVER2/GFX/SPLASH1P.TIM to DRIVER2/GFX/SPLASH1N.TIM (change P to N)
(Optional) go to <your_redriver2_folder>\DRIVER2\FMV and delete all .STR files (and keep .SBN). Also delete all <your_redriver2_folder>\DRIVER2\XA files
Download the latest release or artifact and extract it to <your_redriver2_folder> (example) (result)

Installing (Linux)

Installing from source

Steps are same as Windows except paths and you'll need to install additional libraries as game can be run only on i386 platform:

libsdl2-2.0-0:i386
libopenal:i386
libjpeg-turbo8:i386

Installing the flatpak package

Download the flatpak file from Appveyor and add the flathub repository and runtimes.
You can remove the --user to install it system-wide. It requires superuser authorization if you choose the latter.

flatpak --user install flathub org.freedesktop.Platform/x86_64/20.08 -y

Finally, install the package: flatpak install io.github.opendriver2.Redriver2.flatpak
The Driver 2 game files needs to be put in the following directory: ~/.var/app/io.github.opendriver2.Redriver2/data

Retrieving game video and audio

Download jPSXdec and install latest Java
Run jPSXdec and open your CD1 ISO or BIN/CUE file
change Directory to <your_redriver2_folder> on hard drive
In bottom of jPSXdec window open dropdown menu and select All videos and push Select...
Repeat previous step but instead select All audio (excluding video audio) (graphic example)
Click Save All Selected and check if AVI and WAV files are going to be saved, then hit Start (graphic example)
Repeat steps 1-5 for CD2 and it's done.

After you've done all the steps

You also may need MSVC++ Redist 2016-2019 if you haven't already installed: https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/vc_redist.x86.exe

Simply start REDRIVER2.exe (red RED2 icon). If you installed game incorrectly, you will see error messages.
