[opaque pointer types] Add a FunctionCallee wrapper type, and use it. Recommit r352791 after tweaking DerivedTypes.h slightly, so that gcc doesn't choke on it, hopefully. Original Message: The FunctionCallee type is effectively a {FunctionType*,Value*} pair, and is a useful convenience to enable code to continue passing the result of getOrInsertFunction() through to EmitCall, even once pointer types lose their pointee-type. Then: - update the CallInst/InvokeInst instruction creation functions to take a Callee, - modify getOrInsertFunction to return FunctionCallee, and - update all callers appropriately. One area of particular note is the change to the sanitizer code. Previously, they had been casting the result of `getOrInsertFunction` to a `Function*` via `checkSanitizerInterfaceFunction`, and storing that. That would report an error if someone had already inserted a function declaraction with a mismatching signature. However, in general, LLVM allows for such mismatches, as `getOrInsertFunction` will automatically insert a bitcast if needed. As part of this cleanup, cause the sanitizer code to do the same. (It will call its functions using the expected signature, however they may have been declared.) Finally, in a small number of locations, callers of `getOrInsertFunction` actually were expecting/requiring that a brand new function was being created. In such cases, I've switched them to Function::Create instead. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D57315 llvm-svn: 352827

Reland: [Coverage] Revise format to reduce binary size Try again with an up-to-date version of D69471 (99317124 was a stale revision). --- Revise the coverage mapping format to reduce binary size by: 1. Naming function records and marking them `linkonce_odr`, and 2. Compressing filenames. This shrinks the size of llc's coverage segment by 82% (334MB -> 62MB) and speeds up end-to-end single-threaded report generation by 10%. For reference the compressed name data in llc is 81MB (__llvm_prf_names). Rationale for changes to the format: - With the current format, most coverage function records are discarded. E.g., more than 97% of the records in llc are *duplicate* placeholders for functions visible-but-not-used in TUs. Placeholders *are* used to show under-covered functions, but duplicate placeholders waste space. - We reached general consensus about giving (1) a try at the 2017 code coverage BoF [1]. The thinking was that using `linkonce_odr` to merge duplicates is simpler than alternatives like teaching build systems about a coverage-aware database/module/etc on the side. - Revising the format is expensive due to the backwards compatibility requirement, so we might as well compress filenames while we're at it. This shrinks the encoded filenames in llc by 86% (12MB -> 1.6MB). See CoverageMappingFormat.rst for the details on what exactly has changed. Fixes PR34533 [2], hopefully. IR: Introduce local_unnamed_addr attribute. If a local_unnamed_addr attribute is attached to a global, the address is known to be insignificant within the module. It is distinct from the existing unnamed_addr attribute in that it only describes a local property of the module rather than a global property of the symbol. This attribute is intended to be used by the code generator and LTO to allow the linker to decide whether the global needs to be in the symbol table. It is possible to exclude a global from the symbol table if three things are true: - This attribute is present on every instance of the global (which means that the normal rule that the global must have a unique address can be broken without being observable by the program by performing comparisons against the global's address) - The global has linkonce_odr linkage (which means that each linkage unit must have its own copy of the global if it requires one, and the copy in each linkage unit must be the same) - It is a constant or a function (which means that the program cannot observe that the unique-address rule has been broken by writing to the global) Although this attribute could in principle be computed from the module contents, LTO clients (i.e. linkers) will normally need to be able to compute this property as part of symbol resolution, and it would be inefficient to materialize every module just to compute it.
