37503e9671 Handle IMPLICIT_DEF with isUndef operand marker, part 2. This patch moves the code to annotate machineoperands to LiveIntervalAnalysis. It also add markers for implicit_def that define physical registers. The rest, is just a lot of details.

d0589c59b3 llvm-mc: Symbols in a relocatable expression of the (a - b + cst) form are
allowed to be undefined when the expression is seen, we cannot enforce the
same-section requirement until the entire assembly file has been seen.

c0fb316bd3 Add an "alignment" field to the MachineFunction object. It makes more sense to
have the alignment be calculated up front, and have the back-ends obey whatever
alignment is decided upon.

This allows for future work that would allow for precise no-op placement and the
like.

c6c942b70f Add a bit IsUndef to MachineOperand. This indicates the def / use register operand is defined by an implicit_def. That means it can def / use any register and passes (e.g. register scavenger) can feel free to ignore them.
The register allocator, when it allocates a register to a virtual register defined by an implicit_def, can allocate any physical register without worrying about overlapping live ranges. It should mark all of operands of the said virtual register so later passes will do the right thing.

This is not the best solution. But it should be a lot less fragile to having the scavenger try to track what is defined by implicit_def.

8d2a45fadb Teach LoopSimplify how to merge multiple loop exits into a single exit,
when one of them can be converted to a trivial icmp and conditional
branch.

This addresses what is essentially a phase ordering problem.
SimplifyCFG knows how to do this transformation, but it doesn't do so
if the primary block has any instructions in it other than an icmp and
a branch. In the given testcase, the block contains other instructions,
however they are loop-invariant and can be hoisted. SimplifyCFG doesn't
have LoopInfo though, so it can't hoist them. And, it's important that
the blocks be merged before LoopRotation, as it doesn't support
multiple-exit loops.

4f74e815f1 Incorporate the insertion point into the key of SCEVExpander's CSE map.
This helps it avoid reusing an instruction that doesn't dominate all
of the users, in cases where the original instruction was inserted
before all of the users were known.  This may result in redundant
expansions of sub-expressions that depend on loop-unpredictable values
in some cases, however this isn't very common, and it primarily impacts
IndVarSimplify, so GVN can be expected to clean these up.

This eliminates the need for IndVarSimplify's FixUsesBeforeDefs,
which fixes several bugs.

ca9aefcc93 fix a really subtle bug in the cross section of aliases and TLS:
the SelectionDAG::getGlobalAddress function properly looks through
aliases to determine thread-localness, but then passes the GV* down
to GlobalAddressSDNode::GlobalAddressSDNode which does not.  Instead
of passing down isTarget, just pass down the predetermined node
opcode.  This fixes some assertions with out of tree changes I'm 
working on.

e665ff7b38 Make -save-temps behave like in GCC 4.5.
The -save-temps option now behaves like described in GCC 4.5 release notes
(you can specify output directory for temporary files with -save-temps=obj
-o $DIRNAME). I do not have GCC 4.5 installed, so if there are any
inconsistencies between llvmc and GCC in the implementation of this
feature, please let me know.

c431f61520 Add a JITEventListener interface that gets called back when a new function is
emitted or the machine code for a function is freed.  Chris mentioned that we
may also want a notification when a stub is emitted, but that'll be a future
change.  I intend to use this to tell oprofile where functions are emitted and
what lines correspond to what addresses.

1733775020 Increase limit for OpActions array
The OpActions array had a limit of 32 value types, so change it to use
MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_VALUETYPE in its declaration and change the accesses to
this array to work with a VT.getSimpleVT() that is larger than 32.

Also, add a comment to the place where MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_VALUETYPE is
defined indicating that it must be a multiple of 32.

This is part of the work allow MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE be greater than 32.

653f309975 Fix the Ocaml bindings for the ExecutionEngine: with the change to build
libraries instead of relinked objects, the interpreter, JIT, and native

08b3d807e8 This increases the maximum for MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE
This change doubles the allowable value for MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE. It does
this by doing several things.

1. Introduces MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE which in this change has a
value of 64.  This value contains the current maximum for the
MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE.

2. Instead of checking "MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE <= 32", all of those uses
now become "MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE <= MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE"

3. Changes the dimension of the ValueTypeActions from 2 elements to four
elements and adds comments ahead of the declaration indicating the it is
"(MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE/32) * 2".  This at least lets us find
what is affected if and when MVT::MAX_ALLOWED_LAST_VALUETYPE gets
changed.

4. Adds initializers for the new elements of ValueTypeActions.

This does NOT add any types in MVT. That would be done separately.

This doubles the size of ValueTypeActions from 64 bits to 128 bits and
gives us the freedom to add more types for AVX.

4f4bda36df Extend ScalarEvolution's multiple-exit support to compute exact
trip counts in more cases.

Generalize ScalarEvolution's isLoopGuardedByCond code to recognize
And and Or conditions, splitting the code out into an
isNecessaryCond helper function so that it can evaluate Ands and Ors
recursively, and make SCEVExpander be much more aggressive about
hoisting instructions out of loops.

test/CodeGen/X86/pr3495.ll has an additional instruction now, but
it appears to be due to an arbitrary register allocation difference.

226e1d8bda Make timers threadsafe again. This isn't quite as nice as I'd hoped (it uses locking rather than atomic arithmetic),
but should work on all the platforms we care about.

f7b3bf53e2 Make llvmc work again.
Chris recently broke llvmc with his Makefile changes (r75379). That patch made
the global change .o -> .a, which caused built-in llvmc plugins to stop working
since plugin initialization in llvmc is based on static variables not referenced
from the main executable. This patch implements auto-generated forced references
to the plugin libraries.

83b6bbdcb4 Banish global state from ScalarEvolution! SCEV uniquing is now done by tables attached to the ScalarEvolution pass.
This also throws out the SCEV reference counting scheme, as the the SCEVs now have a lifetime controlled by the
ScalarEvolution pass.

Note that SCEVHandle is now a no-op, and will be remove in a future commit.

db7860aa40 Teach ScalarEvolution how to analyze loops with multiple exit
blocks, and also exit blocks with multiple conditions (combined
with (bitwise) ands and ors). It's often infeasible to compute an
exact trip count in such cases, but a useful upper bound can often
be found.

733fa621f6 Revert r73790, and replace it with a significantly less ugly solution. Rather than trying to make the global reader-writer lock work,
create separate recursive mutexes for each value map.  The recursive-ness fixes the double-acquiring issue, which having one per ValueMap
lets us continue to maintain some concurrency.

295610c408 Fix a serious bug that would cause deadlock during abstract type refinement. The constant creation
gets involved, and we end up trying to recursively acquire a writer lock.  The fix for this is slightly horrible,
and involves passing a boolean "locked" parameter around in Constants.cpp, but it's better than having locked and
unlocked versions of most of the code.

3624754e23 Add some scaffolding for a new experimental asmprinter
implementation.  The idea is that we want asmprinting to
work by converting MachineInstrs into a new MCInst class,
then the per-instruction asmprinter works on MCInst.  MCInst
and the new asmprinters will not depend on most of the 
llvm code generators.  This allows building diassemblers
that don't link in the whole llvm code generator.  This is
step #1 of many.

fd857b0406 Remove the code from IVUsers that attempted to handle
casted induction variables in cases where the cast
isn't foldable. It ended up being a pessimization in
many cases. This could be fixed, but it would require
a bunch of complicated code in IVUsers' clients. The
advantages of this approach aren't visible enough to
justify it at this time.

82a8ab8a8e - Update register allocation hint after coalescing. This is done by the target since the hint is target dependent. This is important for ARM register pair hints.
- Register allocator should resolve the second part of the hint (register number) before passing it to the target since it knows virtual register to physical register mapping.

2e737ac21f Support vector casts in more places, fixing a variety of assertion
failures.

To support this, add some utility functions to Type to help support
vector/scalar-independent code. Change ConstantInt::get and
ConstantFP::get to support vector types, and add an overload to
ConstantInt::get that uses a static IntegerType type, for
convenience.

Introduce a new getConstant method for ScalarEvolution, to simplify
common use cases.

- Change register allocation hint to a pair of unsigned integers. The hint type is zero (which means prefer the register specified as second part of the pair) or entirely target dependent.
- Allow targets to specify alternative register allocation orders based on allocation hint.

Part 2.
- Use the register allocation hint system to implement more aggressive load / store multiple formation.
- Aggressively form LDRD / STRD. These are formed *before* register allocation. It has to be done this way to shorten live interval of base and offset registers. e.g.
v1025 = LDR v1024, 0
v1026 = LDR v1024, 0
=>
v1025,v1026 = LDRD v1024, 0

If this transformation isn't done before allocation, v1024 will overlap v1025 which means it more difficult to allocate a register pair.

- Even with the register allocation hint, it may not be possible to get the desired allocation. In that case, the post-allocation load / store multiple pass must fix the ldrd / strd instructions. They can either become ldm / stm instructions or back to a pair of ldr / str instructions.

This is work in progress, not yet enabled.

6aa3d83630 Add an early implementation of a partial inlining pass. The idea behind this
is that, for functions whose bodies are entirely guarded by an if-statement, it
can be profitable to pull the test out of the callee and into the caller.

This code has had some cursory testing, but still has a number of known issues
on the LLVM test suite.

prevents us from specifying AVX types.

Prior to this change IndexedModActions was represented as follows...

uint64_t IndexedModeActions[2][ISD::LAST_INDEXED_MODE];

the first dimension was used to represent loads, then stores.  This
imposed a limitation of 32 on the number of value types that could be
handled with this method.  The value type was used to shift the two bits
into and out of the approprate bits in the uint64_t.

With this change the array is now represented as ...

uint8_t IndexedModeActions[MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE][2][ISD::LAST_INDEXED_MODE];

Takes more space but removes the limitation on MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE.  The
first dimension is now the value_type for the reference.  The second
dimension is the load [0] vs. store[1].  The third dimension represents
the various modes for load store.  Accesses are now direct, no shifting
or masking.

There are other limitations that need to be removed, so that
MVT::LAST_VALUETYPE can be greater than 32.  This is merely the first
step towards that goal.

71dc3c5d85 Create FunctionType::isValidArgumentType to go along with isValidReturnType.
Also create isValidElementType for ArrayType, PointerType, StructType and
VectorType.

Make LLParser use them. This closes up some holes like an assertion failure on:

  %x = type {label}

but largely doesn't change any semantics. The only thing we accept now which
we didn't before is vectors of opaque type such as "<4 x opaque>". The opaque
can be resolved to an int or float when linking.

058d4eeccf Adapt the x86 build_vector dagcombine to the current state of the legalizer.
build vectors with i64 elements will only appear on 32b x86 before legalize.
Since vector widening occurs during legalize, and produces i64 build_vector 
elements, the dag combiner is never run on these before legalize splits them
into 32b elements.

Teach the build_vector dag combine in x86 back end to recognize consecutive 
loads producing the low part of the vector.

Convert the two uses of TLI's consecutive load recognizer to pass LoadSDNodes
since that was required implicitly.

Add a testcase for the transform.

5f6f8101d5 Split the Add, Sub, and Mul instruction opcodes into separate
integer and floating-point opcodes, introducing
FAdd, FSub, and FMul.

For now, the AsmParser, BitcodeReader, and IRBuilder all preserve
backwards compatability, and the Core LLVM APIs preserve backwards
compatibility for IR producers. Most front-ends won't need to change
immediately.

This implements the first step of the plan outlined here:

870391a06e <rdar://problem/6940611> libLTO.dylib needs to let linker specify path to assembler
Add lto_codegen_set_assembler_path() API which allows the linker to specify the
path to the assembler tool to run.  When assembler is used (instead of compiler)
different command line options are used.
Add LTO_API_VERSION #define so clients (linkers) can conditionalize use of new APIs.

57d886ecbc Change LTO to run the global opt pass twice.
- This matches llvm-ld.

It took a bit of archeology to figure out what the right thing to do was
(whether this was intentionally added or intentionally removed). My final
conclusion is that Chris added this intentionally here:

but the changes weren't propogated to llvm-ld until here:

which was after lto.cpp had been cloned off (of llvm-ld), here:

From the commit message, it looks like the motivation for running global opt
again is because we ran it prior to inlining. Based on that I updated the
comment and also only run the pass if we actually ran the inliner.

d1f2f34c1a Change ConstantFoldConstantExpression to accept a null
TargetData pointer. The only thing it's used for are
calls to ConstantFoldCompareInstOperands and
ConstantFoldInstOperands, which both already accept a
null TargetData pointer. This makes
ConstantFoldConstantExpression easier to use in clients
where TargetData is optional.

c08669561e Make the implicit inputs and outputs of target-independent
ADDC/ADDE use MVT::i1 (later, whatever it gets legalized to)
instead of MVT::Flag.  Remove CARRY_FALSE in favor of 0; adjust
all target-independent code to use this format.

Most targets will still produce a Flag-setting target-dependent
version when selection is done.  X86 is converted to use i32
instead, which means TableGen needs to produce different code
in xxxGenDAGISel.inc.  This keys off the new supportsHasI1 bit
in xxxInstrInfo, currently set only for X86; in principle this
is temporary and should go away when all other targets have
been converted.  All relevant X86 instruction patterns are
modified to represent setting and using EFLAGS explicitly.  The
same can be done on other targets.

The immediate behavior change is that an ADC/ADD pair are no
longer tightly coupled in the X86 scheduler; they can be
separated by instructions that don't clobber the flags (MOV).
I will soon add some peephole optimizations based on using
other instructions that set the flags to feed into ADC.
