a95e1221a9 Speculatively adjust gtest's UnitTest::AddTestPartResult() to not rely on volatile store to null trapping
This fallback path is used at least on PPC.
If this doesn't work on some compilers that take this path,
then this will have to be changed to either abort,
or partitioned to do different things based on the compiler.

82b6e6053d llvmbuildectomy - replace llvm-build by plain cmake
No longer rely on an external tool to build the llvm component layout.

Instead, leverage the existing `add_llvm_componentlibrary` cmake function and
introduce `add_llvm_component_group` to accurately describe component behavior.

These function store extra properties in the created targets. These properties
are processed once all components are defined to resolve library dependencies
and produce the header expected by llvm-config.

336dae54b1 [cmake] Make gtest macro definitions a part the library interface
These definitions are needed by any file which uses gtest. Previously we
were adding them in the add_unittest function, but over time we've
accumulated libraries (which don't go through add_unittest) building on
gtest and this has resulted in proliferation of the definitions.

Making this a part of the library interface enables them to be managed
centrally. This follows a patch for -Wno-suggest-override (D84554) which
took a similar approach.

78dc495935 Use INTERFACE_COMPILE_OPTIONS to disable -Wsuggest-override for any target that links to gtest
This cleans up several CMakeLists.txt's where -Wno-suggest-override was manually specified. These test targets now inherit this flag from the gtest target.

Some unittests CMakeLists.txt's, in particular Flang and LLDB, are not touched by this patch. Flang manually adds the gtest sources itself in some configurations, rather than linking to LLVM's gtest target, so this fix would be insufficient to cover those cases. Similarly, LLDB has subdirectories that manually add the gtest headers to their include path without linking to the gtest target, so those subdirectories still need -Wno-suggest-override to be manually specified to compile without warnings.

add_compile_options is more sensitive to its location in the file than add_definitions--it only takes effect for sources that are added after it. This updated patch ensures that the add_compile_options is done before adding any source files that depend on it.

Using add_definitions caused the flag to be passed to rc.exe on Windows and thus broke Windows builds.

16a34f1645 Enable -Wsuggest-override in the LLVM build
This patch adds Clang's new (and GCC's old) -Wsuggest-override to the warning flags for the LLVM build. The warning is a stronger form of -Winconsistent-missing-override which warns _everywhere_ that override is missing, not just in places where it's inconsistent within a class.

Some directories in the monorepo need the warning disabled for compatibility's, or sanity's, sake; in particular, libcxx/libcxxabi, and any code implementing or interoperating with googletest, googlemock, or google benchmark (which do not themselves use override). This patch adds -Wno-suggest-override to the relevant CMakeLists.txt's to accomplish this.

b77224b68f Use C++14-style return type deduction in LLVM.
Summary:
Simplifies the C++11-style "-> decltype(...)" return-type deduction.

Note that you have to be careful about whether the function return type
is `auto` or `decltype(auto)`. The difference is that bare `auto`
strips const and reference, just like lambda return type deduction. In
some cases that's what we want (or more likely, we know that the return
type is a value type), but whenever we're wrapping a templated function
which might return a reference, we need to be sure that the return type
is decltype(auto).

No functional change.

d4999fa5bd Build with _XOPEN_SOURCE defined on AIX
Summary:
It is useful to build with _XOPEN_SOURCE defined on AIX, enabling X/Open
and POSIX compatibility mode, to work around stray macros and other
bugs in the headers provided by the system and build compiler.

This patch adds the config to cmake to build with _XOPEN_SOURCE defined
on AIX with a few exceptions. Google Test internals require access to
platform specific thread info constructs on AIX so in that case we build
with _ALL_SOURCE defined instead. Libclang also uses header which needs
_ALL_SOURCE on AIX so we leave that as is as well.

We also add building on AIX with the large file API and doing CMake
header checks with X/OPEN definitions so the results are consistent with
the environment that will be present in the build.

We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header

Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM

include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed
code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of
our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and

The trickier part of this patch is making sure the streaming operators

was explicitly introducing an implicit conversion to make sure other
implicit conversions do not kick in :P. I resolve that by specializing

0068f19cfd [unittests] Change std::sort to llvm::sort in response to r327219
r327219 added wrappers to std::sort which randomly shuffle the container before
sorting. This will help in uncovering non-determinism caused due to undefined
sorting order of objects having the same key.

To make use of that infrastructure we need to invoke llvm::sort instead of
std::sort.

Note: This patch is one of a series of patches to replace *all* std::sort to
llvm::sort. Refer the comments section in D44363 for a list of all the
required patches.

469668c08f Revert r326092: [gtest] Add PrintTo overload for StringRef.
It seems to break the following buildbot:

Will resubmit after investigating and fixing it.

Summary:
It was printed using code for generic containers before, resulting in
unreadable output.

f68b2fe1f1 [gtest] Support raw_ostream printing functions more comprehensively.
Summary:
These are functions like operator<<(raw_ostream&, Foo).

Previously these were only supported for messages. In the assertion
  EXPECT_EQ(A, B) << C;
the local modifications would explicitly try to use raw_ostream printing for C.
However A and B would look for a std::ostream printing function, and often fall
back to gtest's default "168 byte object <00 01 FE 42 ...>".

This patch pulls out the raw_ostream support into a new header under `custom/`.

I changed the mechanism: instead of a convertible stream, we wrap the printed
value in a proxy object to allow it to be sent to a std::ostream.
I think the new way is clearer.

I also changed the policy: we prefer raw_ostream printers over std::ostream
ones. This is because the fallback printers are defined using std::ostream,
while all the raw_ostream printers should be "good".
