6484ea55e4 [GVN] Remove stale entries in phitranslate cache when new phi is generated for PRE
When a new phi is generated for scalarpre of an expression, the phiTranslate cache
will become stale: Before PRE, the candidate expression must not be available in a
predecessor block, and phitranslate will cache the information. After PRE, the
expression will become available in all predecessor blocks, so the related entries
in phiTranslate cache becomes stale. The patch will simply remove the stale entries
so phiTranslate can be recomputed next time.

The stale entries in phitranslate cache will not affect correctness but will cause
missing PRE opportunity for later instructions.

9f19665894 [SLP] General improvements of SLP vectorization process.
Patch tries to improve two-pass vectorization analysis, existing in SLP vectorizer. What it does:

1. Defines key nodes, that are the vectorization roots. Previously vectorization started if StoreInst or ReturnInst is found. For now, the vectorization started for all Instructions with no users and void types (Terminators, StoreInst) + CallInsts.
2. CmpInsts, InsertElementInsts and InsertValueInsts are stored in the

Summary:

ffba812867 Disable loop peeling during full unrolling pass.
Summary:
Peeling should not occur during the full unrolling invocation early
in the pipeline, but rather later with partial and runtime loop
unrolling. The later loop unrolling invocation will also eventually
utilize profile summary and branch frequency information, which
we would like to use to control peeling. And for ThinLTO we want
to delay peeling until the backend (post thin link) phase, just as
we do for most types of unrolling.

Ensure peeling doesn't occur during the full unrolling invocation
by adding a parameter to the shared implementation function, similar
to the way partial and runtime loop unrolling are disabled.

Performance results for ThinLTO suggest this has a neutral to positive
effect on some internal benchmarks.

f4af38fa5f [PM] Split LoopUnrollPass and make partial unroller a function pass
Summary:
This is largely NFC*, in preparation for utilizing ProfileSummaryInfo
and BranchFrequencyInfo analyses. In this patch I am only doing the
splitting for the New PM, but I can do the same for the legacy PM as
a follow-on if this looks good.

*Not NFC since for partial unrolling we lose the updates done to the
loop traversal (adding new sibling and child loops) - according to
Chandler this is not very useful for partial unrolling, but it also
means that the debugging flag -unroll-revisit-child-loops no longer
works for partial unrolling.

d9cf09c389 [GVN] Recommit the patch "Add phi-translate support in scalarpre"
Recommit after workaround the bug PR31652.

Three bugs fixed in previous recommits: The first one is to use CurrentBlock
instead of PREInstr's Parent as param of performScalarPREInsertion because
the Parent of a clone instruction may be uninitialized. The second one is stop
PRE when CurrentBlock to its predecessor is a backedge and an operand of CurInst
is defined inside of CurrentBlock. The same value defined inside of loop in last
iteration can not be regarded as available. The third one is an out-of-bound
array access in a flipped if guard.

Right now scalarpre doesn't have phi-translate support, so it will miss some
simple pre opportunities. Like the following testcase, current scalarpre cannot
recognize the last "a * b" is fully redundent because a and b used by the last
"a * b" expr are both defined by phis.

e1bfd295b2 [ICP] Migrate to OptimizationRemarkEmitter
This is a module pass so for the old PM, we can't use ORE, the function
analysis pass.  Instead ORE is created on the fly.

A few notes:

- isPromotionLegal is folded in the caller since we want to emit the Function
in the remark but we can only do that if the symbol table look-up succeeded.

- There was good test coverage for remarks in this pass.

- promoteIndirectCall uses ORE conditionally since it's also used from
SampleProfile which does not use ORE yet.

0d6908f2bf All libcalls should be considered to be GC-leaf functions.
Summary:
It is possible for some passes to materialize a call to a libcall (ex: ldexp, exp2, etc),
but these passes will not mark the call as a gc-leaf-function. All libcalls are
actually gc-leaf-functions, so we change llvm::callsGCLeafFunction() to tell us that
available libcalls are equivalent to gc-leaf-function calls.

7b7de60cec Migrate SimplifyLibCalls to new OptimizationRemarkEmitter
Summary:
This changes SimplifyLibCalls to use the new OptimizationRemarkEmitter
API.

In fact, as SimplifyLibCalls is only ever called via InstCombine,
(as far as I can tell) the OptimizationRemarkEmitter is added there,
and then passed through to SimplifyLibCalls later.

I have avoided changing any remark text.

This closes PR33787

2de601c7f8 Extend memcpy expansion in Transform/Utils to handle wider operand types.
Adds loop expansions for known-size and unknown-sized memcpy calls, allowing the
target to provide the operand types through TTI callbacks. The default values
for the TTI callbacks use int8 operand types and matches the existing behaviour
if they aren't overridden by the target.

68a67b24b0 [LV] Sink casts to unravel first order recurrence
Check if a single cast is preventing handling a first-order-recurrence Phi,
because the scheduling constraints it imposes on the first-order-recurrence
shuffle are infeasible; but they can be made feasible by moving the cast
downwards. Record such casts and move them when vectorizing the loop.

cd49bfab29 Remove the BBVectorize pass.
It served us well, helped kick-start much of the vectorization efforts
in LLVM, etc. Its time has come and past. Back in 2014:

d68f13d3d6 Remove inline keyword from inline classof methods
The style guide states that the explicit `inline`
should not be used with inline methods.  classof is
very common inline method with a fair amount on
inconsistency:

$ git grep classof ./include | grep inline | wc -l
230
$ git grep classof ./include | grep -v inline | wc -l
257

I chose to target this method rather the larger change
since this method is easily cargo-culted (I did it at
least once).  I considered doing the larger change and
removing all occurrences but that would be a much larger
change.

403d788d88 [InstCombine] Factor the logic for propagating !nonnull and !range
metadata out of InstCombine and into helpers.

NFC, this just exposes the logic used by InstCombine when propagating
metadata from one load instruction to another. The plan is to use this
in SROA to address PR32902.

If anyone has better ideas about how to factor this or name variables,
I'm all ears, but this seemed like a pretty good start and lets us make
progress on the PR.

This is based on a patch by Ariel Ben-Yehuda (D34285).

72cda64d90 [LoopSimplify] Re-instate r306081 with a bug fix w.r.t. indirectbr.
This was reverted in r306252, but I already had the bug fixed and was
just trying to form a test case.

The original commit factored the logic for forming dedicated exits
inside of LoopSimplify into a helper that could be used elsewhere and
with an approach that required fewer intermediate data structures. See
that commit for full details including the change to the statistic, etc.

The code looked fine to me and my reviewers, but in fact didn't handle
indirectbr correctly -- it left the 'InLoopPredecessors' vector dirty.

If you have code that looks *just* right, you can end up leaking these
predecessors into a subsequent rewrite, and crash deep down when trying
to update PHI nodes for predecessors that don't exist.

I've added an assert that makes the bug much more obvious, and then
changed the code to reliably clear the vector so we don't get this bug
again in some other form as the code changes.

I've also added a test case that *does* manage to catch this while also
giving some nice positive coverage in the face of indirectbr.

The real code that found this came out of what I think is CPython's
interpreter loop, but any code with really "creative" interpreter loops
mixing indirectbr and other exit paths could manage to tickle the bug.
I was hard to reduce the original test case because in addition to
having a particular pattern of IR, the whole thing depends on the order
of the predecessors which is in turn depends on use list order. The test
case added here was designed so that in multiple different predecessor
orderings it should always end up going down the same path and tripping
the same bug. I hope. At least, it tripped it for me without
manipulating the use list order which is better than anything bugpoint
could do...

1d2606400e [LoopSimplify] Factor the logic to form dedicated exits into a utility.
I want to use the same logic as LoopSimplify to form dedicated exits in
another pass (SimpleLoopUnswitch) so I wanted to factor it out here.

I also noticed that there is a pretty significantly more efficient way
to implement this than the way the code in LoopSimplify worked. We don't
need to actually retain the set of unique exit blocks, we can just
rewrite them as we find them and use only a set to deduplicate.

This did require changing one part of LoopSimplify to not re-use the
unique set of exits, but it only used it to check that there was
a single unique exit. That part of the code is about to walk the exiting
blocks anyways, so it seemed better to rewrite it to use those exiting
blocks to compute this property on-demand.

I also had to ditch a statistic, but it doesn't seem terribly valuable.

4440ca5fab Improve profile-guided heuristics to use estimated trip count.
Summary:
Existing heuristic uses the ratio between the function entry
frequency and the loop invocation frequency to find cold loops. However,
even if the loop executes frequently, if it has a small trip count per
each invocation, vectorization is not beneficial. On the other hand,
even if the loop invocation frequency is much smaller than the function
invocation frequency, if the trip count is high it is still beneficial
to vectorize the loop.

This patch uses estimated trip count computed from the profile metadata
as a primary metric to determine coldness of the loop. If the estimated
trip count cannot be computed, it falls back to the original heuristics.

16f68ec6d3 NewGVN: Fix PR/33187. This is a bug caused by two things:
1. When there is no perfect iteration order, we can't let phi nodes
put themselves in terms of things that come later in the iteration
order, or we will endlessly cycle (the normal RPO algorithm clears the
hashtable to avoid this issue).
2. We are sometimes erasing the wrong expression (causing pessimism)
because our equality says loads and stores are the same.
We introduce an exact equality function and use it when erasing to
make sure we erase only identical expressions, not equivalent ones.

eb66b33867 Sort the remaining #include lines in include/... and lib/....
I did this a long time ago with a janky python script, but now
clang-format has built-in support for this. I fed clang-format every
line with a #include and let it re-sort things according to the precise
LLVM rules for include ordering baked into clang-format these days.

I've reverted a number of files where the results of sorting includes
isn't healthy. Either places where we have legacy code relying on
particular include ordering (where possible, I'll fix these separately)
or where we have particular formatting around #include lines that
I didn't want to disturb in this patch.

This patch is *entirely* mechanical. If you get merge conflicts or
anything, just ignore the changes in this patch and run clang-format
over your #include lines in the files.

Sorry for any noise here, but it is important to keep these things
stable. I was seeing an increasing number of patches with irrelevant
re-ordering of #include lines because clang-format was used. This patch
at least isolates that churn, makes it easy to skip when resolving
conflicts, and gets us to a clean baseline (again).

8ddc04c139 Add a dominanance check interface that uses caching for instructions within same basic block.
Summary:
This problem stems from the fact that instructions are allocated using new
in LLVM, i.e. there is no relationship that can be derived by just looking
at the pointer value.

This interface dispatches to appropriate dominance check given 2 instructions,
i.e. in case the instructions are in the same basic block, ordered basicblock
(with instruction numbering and caching) are used. Otherwise, dominator tree
is used.

8675f668b9 [Cloning] Take another pass at properly cloning debug info
Summary:
In rL302576, DISubprograms gained the constraint that a !dbg attachments to functions must
have a 1:1 mapping to DISubprograms. As part of that change, the function cloning support
was adjusted to attempt to enforce this invariant during cloning. However, there
were several problems with the implementation. Part of these were fixed in rL304079.
However, there was a more fundamental problem with these changes, namely that it
bypasses the matadata value map, causing the cloned metadata to be a mix of metadata
pointing to the new suprogram (where manual code was added to fix those up) and the
old suprogram (where this was not the case). This mismatch could cause a number of
different assertion failures in the DWARF emitter. Some of these are given at
https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues/22069, but some others have been observed
as well. Attempt to rectify this by partially reverting the manual DI metadata fixup,
and instead using the standard value map approach. To retain the desired semantics
of not duplicating the compilation unit and inlined subprograms, explicitly freeze
these in the value map.

e428c95dca [GVN] Recommit the patch "Add phi-translate support in scalarpre".
The recommit is to fix a bug about ExtractValue and InsertValue ops. For those
ops, some varargs inside GVN::Expression are not value numbers but raw index
numbers. It is wrong to do phi-translate for raw index numbers, and the fix is
to stop doing that.

Right now scalarpre doesn't have phi-translate support, so it will miss some
simple pre opportunities. Like the following testcase, current scalarpre cannot
recognize the last "a * b" is fully redundent because a and b used by the last
"a * b" expr are both defined by phis.

e219c46616 [GVNSink] GVNSink pass
This patch provides an initial prototype for a pass that sinks instructions based on GVN information, similar to GVNHoist. It is not yet ready for commiting but I've uploaded it to gather some initial thoughts.

This pass attempts to sink instructions into successors, reducing static
instruction count and enabling if-conversion.
We use a variant of global value numbering to decide what can be sunk.
Consider:

GVN would number %a1 and %c1 differently because they compute different
results - the VN of an instruction is a function of its opcode and the
transitive closure of its operands. This is the key property for hoisting
and CSE.

What we want when sinking however is for a numbering that is a function of
the *uses* of an instruction, which allows us to answer the question "if I
replace %a1 with %c1, will it contribute in an equivalent way to all
successive instructions?". The (new) PostValueTable class in GVN provides this
mapping.

This pass has some shown really impressive improvements especially for codesize already on internal benchmarks, so I have high hopes it can replace all the sinking logic in SimplifyCFG.

be57ef6b4f SimplifyLibCalls: Optimize wcslen
Refactor the strlen optimization code to work for both strlen and wcslen.

This especially helps with programs in the wild where people pass
L"string"s to const std::wstring& function parameters and the wstring
constructor gets inlined.

This also fixes a lingerind API problem/bug in getConstantStringInfo()
where zeroinitializers would always give you an empty string (without a
length) back regardless of the actual length of the initializer which
did not work well in the TrimAtNul==false causing the PR mentioned
below.

Note that the fixed getConstantStringInfo() needed fixes to SelectionDAG
memcpy lowering and may lead to some cases for out-of-bounds
zeroinitializer accesses not getting optimized anymore. So some code
with UB may produce out of bound memory reads now instead of just
producing zeros.

73703d12a4 [SLP] Emit optimization remarks
The approach I followed was to emit the remark after getTreeCost concludes
that SLP is profitable.  I initially tried emitting them after the
vectorizeRootInstruction calls in vectorizeChainsInBlock but I vaguely
remember missing a few cases for example in HorizontalReduction::tryToReduce.

ORE is placed in BoUpSLP so that it's available from everywhere (notably
HorizontalReduction::tryToReduce).

We use the first instruction in the root bundle as the locator for the remark.
In order to get a sense how far the tree is spanning I've include the size of
the tree in the remark.  This is not perfect of course but it gives you at
least a rough idea about the tree.  Then you can follow up with -view-slp-tree
to really see the actual tree.

59ff6c8c60 Introduce experimental generic intrinsics for horizontal vector reductions.
- This change allows targets to opt-in to using them instead of the log2
  shufflevector algorithm.
- The SLP and Loop vectorizers have the common code to do shuffle reductions
  factored out into LoopUtils, and now have a unified interface for generating
  reductions regardless of the preference of the target. LoopUtils now uses TTI
  to determine what kind of reductions the target wants to handle.
- For CodeGen, basic legalization support is added.

af44b5b1af [asan] Fix dead stripping of globals on Linux.
Use a combination of !associated, comdat, @llvm.compiler.used and
custom sections to allow dead stripping of globals and their asan
metadata. Sometimes.

Currently this works on LLD, which supports SHF_LINK_ORDER with
sh_link pointing to the associated section.

This also works on BFD, which seems to treat comdats as
all-or-nothing with respect to linker GC. There is a weird quirk
where the "first" global in each link is never GC-ed because of the
section symbols.

At this moment it does not work on Gold (as in the globals are never
stripped).

This is a second re-land of r298158. This time, this feature is
limited to -fdata-sections builds.

99ee90db82 [PM/LoopUnswitch] Introduce a new, simpler loop unswitch pass.
Currently, this pass only focuses on *trivial* loop unswitching. At that
reduced problem it remains significantly better than the current loop
unswitch:
- Old pass is worse than cubic complexity. New pass is (I think) linear.
- New pass is much simpler in its design by focusing on full unswitching. (See
  below for details on this).
- New pass doesn't carry state for thresholds between pass iterations.
- New pass doesn't carry state for correctness (both miscompile and
  infloop) between pass iterations.
- New pass produces substantially better code after unswitching.
- New pass can handle more trivial unswitch cases.
- New pass doesn't recompute the dominator tree for the entire function
  and instead incrementally updates it.

I've ported all of the trivial unswitching test cases from the old pass
to the new one to make sure that major functionality isn't lost in the
process. For several of the test cases I've worked to improve the
precision and rigor of the CHECKs, but for many I've just updated them
to handle the new IR produced.

My initial motivation was the fact that the old pass carried state in
very unreliable ways between pass iterations, and these mechansims were
incompatible with the new pass manager. However, I discovered many more
improvements to make along the way.

This pass makes two very significant assumptions that enable most of these
improvements:

1) Focus on *full* unswitching -- that is, completely removing whatever
   control flow construct is being unswitched from the loop. In the case
   of trivial unswitching, this means removing the trivial (exiting)
   edge. In non-trivial unswitching, this means removing the branch or
   switch itself. This is in opposition to *partial* unswitching where
   some part of the unswitched control flow remains in the loop. Partial
   unswitching only really applies to switches and to folded branches.
   These are very similar to full unrolling and partial unrolling. The
   full form is an effective canonicalization, the partial form needs
   a complex cost model, cannot be iterated, isn't canonicalizing, and
   should be a separate pass that runs very late (much like unrolling).

2) Leverage LLVM's Loop machinery to the fullest. The original unswitch
   dates from a time when a great deal of LLVM's loop infrastructure was
   missing, ineffective, and/or unreliable. As a consequence, a lot of
   complexity was added which we no longer need.

With these two overarching principles, I think we can build a fast and
effective unswitcher that fits in well in the new PM and in the
canonicalization pipeline. Some of the remaining functionality around
partial unswitching may not be relevant today (not many test cases or
benchmarks I can find) but if they are I'd like to add support for them
as a separate layer that runs very late in the pipeline.

Purely to make reviewing and introducing this code more manageable, I've
split this into first a trivial-unswitch-only pass and in the next patch
I'll add support for full non-trivial unswitching against a *fixed*
threshold, exactly like full unrolling. I even plan to re-use the
unrolling thresholds, as these are incredibly similar cost tradeoffs:
we're cloning a loop body in order to end up with simplified control
flow. We should only do that when the total growth is reasonably small.

One of the biggest changes with this pass compared to the previous one
is that previously, each individual trivial exiting edge from a switch
was unswitched separately as a branch. Now, we unswitch the entire
switch at once, with cases going to the various destinations. This lets
us unswitch multiple exiting edges in a single operation and also avoids
numerous extremely bad behaviors, where we would introduce 1000s of
branches to test for thousands of possible values, all of which would
take the exact same exit path bypassing the loop. Now we will use
a switch with 1000s of cases that can be efficiently lowered into
a jumptable. This avoids relying on somehow forming a switch out of the
branches or getting horrible code if that fails for any reason.

Another significant change is that this pass actively updates the CFG
based on unswitching. For trivial unswitching, this is actually very
easy because of the definition of loop simplified form. Doing this makes
the code coming out of loop unswitch dramatically more friendly. We
still should run loop-simplifycfg (at the least) after this to clean up,
but it will have to do a lot less work.

Finally, this pass makes much fewer attempts to simplify instructions
based on the unswitch. Something like loop-instsimplify, instcombine, or
GVN can be used to do increasingly powerful simplifications based on the
now dominating predicate. The old simplifications are things that
something like loop-instsimplify should get today or a very, very basic
loop-instcombine could get. Keeping that logic separate is a big
simplifying technique.

Most of the code in this pass that isn't in the old one has to do with
achieving specific goals:
- Updating the dominator tree as we go
- Unswitching all cases in a switch in a single step.

I think it is still shorter than just the trivial unswitching code in
the old pass despite having this functionality.

31b250d89f [ConstHoisting] Add BFI in constanthoisting pass and select the best insertion
places based on it.

Existing constant hoisting pass will merge a group of contants in a small range
and hoist the const materialization code to the common dominator of their uses.
However, if the uses are all in cold pathes, existing implementation may hoist
the materialization code from cold pathes to a hot place. This may hurt performance.
The patch introduces BFI to the pass and selects the best insertion places based
on it.

The change is controlled by an option consthoist-with-block-frequency which is
off by default for now.

f7f1e6f3b0 [ProfileData] Unify getInstrProf*SectionName helpers
This is a version of D32090 that unifies all of the
`getInstrProf*SectionName` helper functions. (Note: the build failures
which D32090 would have addressed were fixed with r300352.)

We should unify these helper functions because they are hard to use in
their current form. E.g we recently introduced more helpers to fix
section naming for COFF files. This scheme doesn't totally succeed at
hiding low-level details about section naming, so we should switch to an
API that is easier to maintain.

This is not an NFC commit because it fixes llvm-cov's testing support
for COFF files (this falls out of the API change naturally). This is an
area where we lack tests -- I will see about adding one as a follow up.

Testing: check-clang, check-profile, check-llvm.

a1971791a7 Split the SimplifyCFG pass into two variants.
The first variant contains all current transformations except
transforming switches into lookup tables. The second variant
contains all current transformations.

The switch-to-lookup-table conversion results in code that is more
difficult to analyze and optimize by other passes. Most importantly,
it can inhibit Dead Code Elimination. As such it is often beneficial to
only apply this transformation very late. A common example is inlining,
which can often result in range restrictions for the switch expression.

Changes in execution time according to LNT:
SingleSource/Benchmarks/Misc/fp-convert +3.03%
MultiSource/Benchmarks/ASC_Sequoia/CrystalMk/CrystalMk -11.20%
MultiSource/Benchmarks/Olden/perimeter/perimeter -10.43%
and a couple of smaller changes. For perimeter it also results 2.6%
a smaller binary.

7703ef4532 [ThinLTO] Add support for emitting minimized bitcode for thin link
Summary:
The cumulative size of the bitcode files for a very large application
can be huge, particularly with -g. In a distributed build environment,
all of these files must be sent to the remote build node that performs
the thin link step, and this can exceed size limits.

The thin link actually only needs the summary along with a bitcode
symbol table. Until we have a proper bitcode symbol table, simply
stripping the debug metadata results in significant size reduction.

Add support for an option to additionally emit minimized bitcode
modules, just for use in the thin link step, which for now just strips
all debug metadata. I plan to add a cc1 option so this can be invoked
easily during the compile step.

However, care must be taken to ensure that these minimized thin link
bitcode files produce the same index as with the original bitcode files,
as these original bitcode files will be used in the backends.

Specifically:
1) The module hash used for caching is typically produced by hashing the
written bitcode, and we want to include the hash that would correspond
to the original bitcode file. This is because we want to ensure that
changes in the stripped portions affect caching. Added plumbing to emit
the same module hash in the minimized thin link bitcode file.
2) The module paths in the index are constructed from the module ID of
each thin linked bitcode, and typically is automatically generated from
the input file path. This is the path used for finding the modules to
import from, and obviously we need this to point to the original bitcode
files. Added gold-plugin support to take a suffix replacement during the
thin link that is used to override the identifier on the MemoryBufferRef
constructed from the loaded thin link bitcode file. The assumption is
that the build system can specify that the minimized bitcode file has a
name that is similar but uses a different suffix (e.g. out.thinlink.bc
instead of out.o).

Added various tests to ensure that we get identical index files out of
the thin link step.

27d17d1713 Rename AttributeSet to AttributeList
Summary:
This class is a list of AttributeSetNodes corresponding the function
prototype of a call or function declaration. This class used to be
called ParamAttrListPtr, then AttrListPtr, then AttributeSet. It is
typically accessed by parameter and return value index, so
"AttributeList" seems like a more intuitive name.

Rename AttributeSetImpl to AttributeListImpl to follow suit.

It's useful to rename this class so that we can rename AttributeSetNode
to AttributeSet later. AttributeSet is the set of attributes that apply
to a single function, argument, or return value.

6a5f3e2caf Templatize parts of VNCoercion, and add constant-only versions of the functions to be used in NewGVN.
NFCI.

Summary:
This is ground work for the changes to enable coercion in NewGVN.
GVN doesn't care if they end up constant because it eliminates as it goes.
NewGVN cares.

IRBuilder and ConstantFolder deliberately present the same interface,
so we use this to our advantage to templatize our functions to make
them either constant only or not.

d4e5a604bd [asan] Fix dead stripping of globals on Linux.
Use a combination of !associated, comdat, @llvm.compiler.used and
custom sections to allow dead stripping of globals and their asan
metadata. Sometimes.

Currently this works on LLD, which supports SHF_LINK_ORDER with
sh_link pointing to the associated section.

This also works on BFD, which seems to treat comdats as
all-or-nothing with respect to linker GC. There is a weird quirk
where the "first" global in each link is never GC-ed because of the
section symbols.

At this moment it does not work on Gold (as in the globals are never
stripped).

1c042b3ab9 Only unswitch loops with uniform conditions
Loop unswitching can be extremely harmful for a SIMT target. In case
if hoisted condition is not uniform a SIMT machine will execute both
clones of a loop sequentially. Therefor LoopUnswitch checks if the
condition is non-divergent.

Since DivergenceAnalysis adds an expensive PostDominatorTree analysis
not needed for non-SIMT targets a new option is added to avoid unneded
analysis initialization. The method getAnalysisUsage is called when
TargetTransformInfo is not yet available and we cannot use it here.
For that reason a new field DivergentTarget is added to PassManagerBuilder
to control the behavior and set this field from a target.

98a331dc9e Move memory coercion functions from GVN.cpp to VNCoercion.cpp so they can be shared between GVN and NewGVN.
Summary:
These are the functions used to determine when values of loads can be
extracted from stores, etc, and to perform the necessary insertions to
do this.  There are no changes to the functions themselves except
reformatting, and one case where memdep was informed of a removed load
(which was pushed into the caller).

f07ac23c21 [LoopUnrolling] Re-prioritize Peeling and Partial unrolling

In current implementation the loop peeling happens after trip-count based partial unrolling and may
sometimes not happen at all due to it (for example, if trip count is known, but UP.Partial = false). This
is generally bad, the more than there are some situations where peeling is profitable even if the partial
unrolling is disabled.

This patch is a NFC which reorders peeling and partial unrolling application and prepares the code for
implementation of the said optimizations.

9557ca06c5 [JumpThreading] Re-enable JumpThreading for guards
Summary:
JumpThreading for guards feature has been reverted at https://reviews.llvm.org/rL295200
due to the following problem: the feature used the following algorithm for detection of
diamond patters:

1. Find a block with 2 predecessors;
2. Check that these blocks have a common single parent;
3. Check that the parent's terminator is a branch instruction.

The problem is that these checks are insufficient. They may pass for a non-diamond
construction in case if those two predecessors are actually the same block. This may
happen if parent's terminator is a br (either conditional or unconditional) to a block
that ends with "switch" instruction with exactly two branches going to one block.

This patch re-enables the JumpThreading for guards and fixes this issue by adding the
check that those found predecessors are actually different blocks. This guarantees that
parent's terminator is a conditional branch with exactly 2 different successors, which
is now ensured by assertions. It also adds two more tests for this situation (with parent's
terminator being a conditional and an unconditional branch).

a54116ca5c [PM] Fix a bug in the new loop PM when handling functions with no loops.
Without any loops, we don't even bother to build the standard analyses
used by loop passes. Without these, we can't run loop analyses or
invalidate them properly. Unfortunately, we did these things in the
wrong order which would allow a loop analysis manager's proxy to be
built but then not have the standard analyses built. When we went to do
the invalidation in the proxy thing would fall apart. In the test case
provided, it would actually crash.

The fix is to carefully check for loops first, and to in fact build the
standard analyses before building the proxy. This allows it to
correctly trigger invalidation for those standard analyses.

An alternative might seem to be  to look at whether there are any loops
when doing invalidation, but this doesn't work when during the loop
pipeline run we delete the last loop. I've even included that as a test
case. It is both simpler and more robust to defer building the proxy
until there are definitely the standard set of analyses and indeed
loops.

This bug was uncovered by enabling GlobalsAA in the pipeline.

f5bccb32e8 [PM] Port ArgumentPromotion to the new pass manager.
Now that the call graph supports efficient replacement of a function and
spurious reference edges, we can port ArgumentPromotion to the new pass
manager very easily.

The old PM-specific bits are sunk into callbacks that the new PM simply
doesn't use. Unlike the old PM, the new PM simply does argument
promotion and afterward does the update to LCG reflecting the promoted
function.

Summary:
This patch allows JumpThreading also thread through guards.
Virtually, guard(cond) is equivalent to the following construction:

  if (cond) { do something } else {deoptimize}

Yet it is not explicitly converted into IFs before lowering.
This patch enables early threading through guards in simple cases.
Currently it covers the following situation:

  if (cond1) {
    // code A
  } else {
    // code B
  }
  // code C
  guard(cond2)
  // code D

If there is implication cond1 => cond2 or !cond1 => cond2, we can transform
this construction into the following:

  if (cond1) {
    // code A
    // code C
  } else {
    // code B
    // code C
    guard(cond2)
  }
  // code D

Thus, removing the guard from one of execution branches.

82936d5ba3 Add PredicateInfo utility and printing pass
Summary:
This patch adds a utility to build extended SSA (see "ABCD: eliminating
array bounds checks on demand"), and an intrinsic to support it. This
is then used to get functionality equivalent to propagateEquality in
GVN, in NewGVN (without having to replace instructions as we go). It
would work similarly in SCCP or other passes. This has been talked
about a few times, so i built a real implementation and tried to
productionize it.

Copies are inserted for operands used in assumes and conditional
branches that are based on comparisons (see below for more)

Every use affected by the predicate is renamed to the appropriate
intrinsic result.

E.g.

15f7119c5e Introduce a basic MemorySSA updater, that supports insertDef,
insertUse, moveBefore and moveAfter operations.

Summary:
This creates a basic MemorySSA updater that handles arbitrary
insertion of uses and defs into MemorySSA, as well as arbitrary
movement around the CFG. It replaces the current splice API.

It can be made to handle arbitrary control flow changes.
Currently, it uses the same updater algorithm from D28934.

The main difference is because MemorySSA is single variable, we have
the complete def and use list, and don't need anyone to give it to us
as part of the API.  We also have to rename stores below us in some
cases.

If we go that direction in that patch, i will merge all the updater
implementations (using an updater_traits or something to provide the
get* functions we use, called read*/write* in that patch).

Sadly, the current SSAUpdater algorithm is way too slow to use for
what we are doing here.

I have updated the tests we have to basically build memoryssa
incrementally using the updater api, and make sure it still comes out
the same.

Change the original algorithm so that it scales better when meeting
very large bitcode where every instruction does not implies a global.

The target query is "how to you get all the globals referenced by
another global"?

Before this patch, it was doing this by walking the body (or the
initializer) and collecting the references. What this patch is doing,
it precomputing the answer to this query for the whole module by
walking the use-list of every global instead.

c177f9d54c MemorySSA: Link all defs together into an intrusive defslist, to make updater easier
Summary:
This is the first in a series of patches to add a simple, generalized updater to MemorySSA.

For MemorySSA, every def is may-def, instead of the normal must-def.
(the best way to think of memoryssa is "everything is really one variable, with different versions of that variable at different points in the program).
This means when updating, we end up having to do a bunch of work to touch defs below and above us.

In order to support this quickly, i have ilist'd all the defs for each block.  ilist supports tags, so this is quite easy. the only slightly messy part is that you can't have two iplists for the same type that differ only whether they have the ownership part enabled or not, because the traits are for the value type.

The verifiers have been updated to test that the def order is correct.

c5d63dfc6a [Guards] Introduce loop-predication pass
This patch introduces guard based loop predication optimization. The new LoopPredication pass tries to convert loop variant range checks to loop invariant by widening checks across loop iterations. For example, it will convert

  for (i = 0; i < n; i++) {
    guard(i < len);
    ...
  }

to

  for (i = 0; i < n; i++) {
    guard(n - 1 < len);
    ...
  }

After this transformation the condition of the guard is loop invariant, so loop-unswitch can later unswitch the loop by this condition which basically predicates the loop by the widened condition:

  if (n - 1 < len)
    for (i = 0; i < n; i++) {
      ...
    } 
  else
    deoptimize

This patch relies on an NFC change to make ScalarEvolution::isMonotonicPredicate public (revision 293062).

268960185f [Analysis] Add LibFunc_ prefix to enums in TargetLibraryInfo. (NFC)
Summary:
The LibFunc::Func enum holds enumerators named for libc functions.
Unfortunately, there are real situations, including libc implementations, where
function names are actually macros (musl uses "#define fopen64 fopen", for
example; any other transitively visible macro would have similar effects).

Strictly speaking, a conforming C++ Standard Library should provide any such
macros as functions instead (via <cstdio>). However, there are some "library"
functions which are not part of the standard, and thus not subject to this
rule (fopen64, for example). So, in order to be both portable and consistent,
the enum should not use the bare function names.

The old enum naming used a namespace LibFunc and an enum Func, with bare
enumerators. This patch changes LibFunc to be an enum with enumerators prefixed
with "LibFFunc_". (Unfortunately, a scoped enum is not sufficient to override
macros.)

There are additional changes required in clang.

9e1b62af44 Improve PGO support for the new inliner
This adds the following to the new PM based inliner in PGO mode:

* Use block frequency analysis to derive callsite's profile count and use
that to adjust thresholds of hot and cold callsites.

* Incrementally update the BFI of the caller after a callee gets inlined
into it. This incremental update is only within an invocation of the run
method - BFI is not preserved across calls to run.
Update the function entry count of the callee after inlining it into a
caller.

* I've tuned the thresholds for the hot and cold callsites using a hacked
up version of the old inliner that explicitly computes BFI on a set of
internal benchmarks and spec. Once the new PM based pipeline stabilizes
(IIRC Chandler mentioned there are known issues) I'll benchmark this
again and adjust the thresholds if required.

99591fa12d NewGVN: Fix PR 31686 and PR 31698 by rewriting store leader handling.
Summary:

This rewrites store expression/leader handling.  We no longer use the
value operand as the leader, instead, we store it separately.  We also
now store the stored value as part of the expression, and compare it
when comparing stores for equality.  This enables us to get rid of a
bunch of our previous hacks and machinations, as the existing
machinery takes care of everything *except* updating the stored value
on classes.  The only time we have to update it is if the storecount
goes to 0, and when we do, we destroy it.

Since we no longer use the value operand as the leader, during elimination, we have to use the value operand.  Doing this also fixes a bunch of store forwarding cases we were missing.

Any value operand we use is guaranteed to either be updated by previous eliminations, or minimized by future ones.

(IE the fact that we don't use the most dominating value operand when it's not a constant does not affect anything).

Sadly, this change also exposes that we didn't pay attention to the
output of the pr31594.ll test, as it also very clearly exposes the
same store leader bug we are fixing here.

(I added pr31682.ll anyway, but maybe we think that's too large to be useful)

On the plus side, propagate-ir-flags.ll now passes due to the
corrected store forwarding.

This change was 3 stage'd on darwin and linux, with the full test-suite.

0e35152dbe [PM] Port LoopSink to the new pass manager.
Like several other loop passes (the vectorizer, etc) this pass doesn't
really fit the model of a loop pass. The critical distinction is that it
isn't intended to be pipelined together with other loop passes. I plan
to add some documentation to the loop pass manager to make this more
clear on that side.

LoopSink is also different because it doesn't really need a lot of the
infrastructure of our loop passes. For example, if there aren't loop
invariant instructions causing a preheader to exist, there is no need to
form a preheader. It also doesn't need LCSSA because this pass is
only involved in sinking invariant instructions from a preheader into
the loop, not reasoning about live-outs.

This allows some nice simplifications to the pass in the new PM where we
can directly walk the loops once without restructuring them.

21d28d5c67 Preserve domtree and loop-simplify for runtime unrolling.
Mostly straightforward changes; we just didn't do the computation before.
One sort of interesting change in LoopUnroll.cpp: we weren't handling
dominance for children of the loop latch correctly, but
foldBlockIntoPredecessor hid the problem for complete unrolling.

Currently punting on loop peeling; made some minor changes to isolate
that problem to LoopUnrollPeel.cpp.

Adds a flag -unroll-verify-domtree; it verifies the domtree immediately
after we finish updating it. This is on by default for +Asserts builds.

cad5492fda [PM] The assumption cache is fundamentally designed to be self-updating,
mark it as never invalidated in the new PM.

The old PM already required this to work, and after a discussion with
Hal this seems to really be the only sensible answer. The cache
gracefully degrades as the IR is mutated, and most things which do this
should already be incrementally updating the cache.

This gets rid of a bunch of logic preserving and testing the
invalidation of this analysis.

This change separates how type identifiers are resolved from how intrinsic

regular LTO, or using the module summary in ThinLTO backends.

e59e4b3dc5 [PM] Separate the LoopAnalysisManager from the LoopPassManager and move
the latter to the Transforms library.

While the loop PM uses an analysis to form the IR units, the current
plan is to have the PM itself establish and enforce both loop simplified
form and LCSSA. This would be a layering violation in the analysis
library.

Fundamentally, the idea behind the loop PM is to *transform* loops in
addition to running passes over them, so it really seemed like the most
natural place to sink this was into the transforms library.

We can't just move *everything* because we also have loop analyses that
rely on a subset of the invariants. So this patch splits the the loop
infrastructure into the analysis management that has to be part of the
analysis library, and the transform-aware pass manager.

This also required splitting the loop analyses' printer passes out to
the transforms library, which makes sense to me as running these will
transform the code into LCSSA in theory.

I haven't split the unittest though because testing one component
without the other seems nearly intractable.

4855803b43 [PM] Rewrite the loop pass manager to use a worklist and augmented run
arguments much like the CGSCC pass manager.

This is a major redesign following the pattern establish for the CGSCC layer to
support updates to the set of loops during the traversal of the loop nest and
to support invalidation of analyses.

An additional significant burden in the loop PM is that so many passes require
access to a large number of function analyses. Manually ensuring these are
cached, available, and preserved has been a long-standing burden in LLVM even
with the help of the automatic scheduling in the old pass manager. And it made
the new pass manager extremely unweildy. With this design, we can package the
common analyses up while in a function pass and make them immediately available
to all the loop passes. While in some cases this is unnecessary, I think the
simplicity afforded is worth it.

This does not (yet) address loop simplified form or LCSSA form, but those are
the next things on my radar and I have a clear plan for them.

While the patch is very large, most of it is either mechanically updating loop
passes to the new API or the new testing for the loop PM. The code for it is
reasonably compact.

I have not yet updated all of the loop passes to correctly leverage the update
mechanisms demonstrated in the unittests. I'll do that in follow-up patches
along with improved FileCheck tests for those passes that ensure things work in
more realistic scenarios. In many cases, there isn't much we can do with these
until the loop simplified form and LCSSA form are in place.

56f985d4fc LowerTypeTests: Split the pass in two: a resolution phase and a lowering phase.
This change separates how type identifiers are resolved from how intrinsic
calls are lowered. All information required to lower an intrinsic call
is stored in a new TypeIdLowering data structure. The idea is that this
data structure can either be initialized using the module itself during
regular LTO, or using the module summary in ThinLTO backends.

a5aad4bd67 ThinLTO: add early "dead-stripping" on the Index
Summary:
Using the linker-supplied list of "preserved" symbols, we can compute
the list of "dead" symbols, i.e. the one that are not reachable from
a "preserved" symbol transitively on the reference graph.
Right now we are using this information to mark these functions as
non-eligible for import.

The impact is two folds:
- Reduction of compile time: we don't import these functions anywhere
  or import the function these symbols are calling.
- The limited number of import/export leads to better internalization.

1bdb8a9032 [ThinLTO] Subsume all importing checks into a single flag
Summary:
This adds a new summary flag NotEligibleToImport that subsumes
several existing flags (NoRename, HasInlineAsmMaybeReferencingInternal
and IsNotViableToInline). It also subsumes the checking of references
on the summary that was being done during the thin link by
eligibleForImport() for each candidate. It is much more efficient to
do that checking once during the per-module summary build and record
it in the summary.

This avoids the very fragile code for null expressions. We could also use a denseset that tracks which things have null expressions instead, but that seems pretty fragile and premature optimization.

This resolves a number of infinite loop cases, test reductions coming.

34293dff3c [PM] Teach the always inliner in the new pass manager to support
removing fully-dead comdats without removing dead entries in comdats
with live members.

This factors the core logic out of the current inliner's internals to
a reusable utility and leverages that in both places. The factored out
code should also be (minorly) more efficient in cases where we have very
few dead functions or dead comdats to consider.

I've added a test case to cover this behavior of the always inliner.
This is the last significant bug in the new PM's always inliner I've
found (so far).

bd0298b1e1 [GVN] Initial check-in of a new global value numbering algorithm.
The code have been developed by Daniel Berlin over the years, and
the new implementation goal is that of addressing shortcomings of
the current GVN infrastructure, i.e. long compile time for large
testcases, lack of phi predication, no load/store value numbering
etc...

The current code just implements the "core" GVN algorithm, although
other pieces (load coercion, phi handling, predicate system) are
already implemented in a branch out of tree. Once the core is stable,
we'll start adding pieces on top of the base framework.
The test currently living in test/Transform/NewGVN are a copy
of the ones in GVN, with proper `XFAIL` (missing features in NewGVN).
A flag will be added in a future commit to enable NewGVN, so that
interested parties can exercise this code easily.

2ed363a464 [PM] Introduce a reasonable port of the main per-module pass pipeline
from the old pass manager in the new one.

I'm not trying to support (initially) the numerous options that are
currently available to customize the pass pipeline. If we end up really
wanting them, we can add them later, but I suspect many are no longer
interesting. The simplicity of omitting them will help a lot as we sort
out what the pipeline should look like in the new PM.

I've also documented to the best of my ability *why* each pass or group
of passes is used so that reading the pipeline is more helpful. In many
cases I think we have some questionable choices of ordering and I've
left FIXME comments in place so we know what to come back and revisit
going forward. But for now, I've left it as similar to the current
pipeline as I could.

Lastly, I've had to comment out several places where passes are not
ported to the new pass manager or where the loop pass infrastructure is
not yet ready. I did at least fix a few bugs in the loop pass
infrastructure uncovered by running the full pipeline, but I didn't want
to go too far in this patch -- I'll come back and re-enable these as the
infrastructure comes online. But I'd like to keep the comments in place
because I don't want to lose track of which passes need to be enabled
and where they go.

One thing that seemed like a significant API improvement was to require
that we don't build pipelines for O0. It seems to have no real benefit.

I've also switched back to returning pass managers by value as at this
API layer it feels much more natural to me for composition. But if
others disagree, I'm happy to go back to an output parameter.

I'm not 100% happy with the testing strategy currently, but it seems at
least OK. I may come back and try to refactor or otherwise improve this
in subsequent patches but I wanted to at least get a good starting point
in place.

ffa0068101 [LDist] Match behavior between invoking via optimization pipeline or opt -loop-distribute
In r267672, where the loop distribution pragma was introduced, I tried
it hard to keep the old behavior for opt: when opt is invoked
with -loop-distribute, it should distribute the loop (it's off by
default when ran via the optimization pipeline).

As MichaelZ has discovered this has the unintended consequence of
breaking a very common developer work-flow to reproduce compilations
using opt: First you print the pass pipeline of clang
with -debug-pass=Arguments and then invoking opt with the returned
arguments.

clang -debug-pass will include -loop-distribute but the pass is invoked
with default=off so nothing happens unless the loop carries the pragma.
While through opt (default=on) we will try to distribute all loops.

This changes opt's default to off as well to match clang.  The tests are
modified to explicitly enable the transformation.

74eb1e2070 [PM] Provide an initial, minimal port of the inliner to the new pass manager.
This doesn't implement *every* feature of the existing inliner, but
tries to implement the most important ones for building a functional
optimization pipeline and beginning to sort out bugs, regressions, and
other problems.

Notable, but intentional omissions:
- No alloca merging support. Why? Because it isn't clear we want to do
  this at all. Active discussion and investigation is going on to remove
  it, so for simplicity I omitted it.
- No support for trying to iterate on "internally" devirtualized calls.
  Why? Because it adds what I suspect is inappropriate coupling for
  little or no benefit. We will have an outer iteration system that
  tracks devirtualization including that from function passes and
  iterates already. We should improve that rather than approximate it
  here.
- Optimization remarks. Why? Purely to make the patch smaller, no other
  reason at all.

The last one I'll probably work on almost immediately. But I wanted to
skip it in the initial patch to try to focus the change as much as
possible as there is already a lot of code moving around and both of
these *could* be skipped without really disrupting the core logic.

A summary of the different things happening here:

1) Adding the usual new PM class and rigging.

2) Fixing minor underlying assumptions in the inline cost analysis or
   inline logic that don't generally hold in the new PM world.

3) Adding the core pass logic which is in essence a loop over the calls
   in the nodes in the call graph. This is a bit duplicated from the old
   inliner, but only a handful of lines could realistically be shared.
   (I tried at first, and it really didn't help anything.) All told,
   this is only about 100 lines of code, and most of that is the
   mechanics of wiring up analyses from the new PM world.

4) Updating the LazyCallGraph (in the new PM) based on the *newly
   inlined* calls and references. This is very minimal because we cannot
   form cycles.

5) When inlining removes the last use of a function, eagerly nuking the
   body of the function so that any "one use remaining" inline cost
   heuristics are immediately refined, and queuing these functions to be
   completely deleted once inlining is complete and the call graph
   updated to reflect that they have become dead.

6) After all the inlining for a particular function, updating the
   LazyCallGraph and the CGSCC pass manager to reflect the
   function-local simplifications that are done immediately and
   internally by the inline utilties. These are the exact same
   fundamental set of CG updates done by arbitrary function passes.

7) Adding a bunch of test cases to specifically target CGSCC and other
   subtle aspects in the new PM world.

dec168cd58 IPO: Introduce ThinLTOBitcodeWriter pass.
This pass prepares a module containing type metadata for ThinLTO by splitting
it into regular and thin LTO parts if possible, and writing both parts to
a multi-module bitcode file. Modules that do not contain type metadata are
written unmodified as a single module.

All globals with type metadata are added to the regular LTO module, and
the rest are added to the thin LTO module.

2a29152193 [GVN] When merging blocks update LoopInfo if it's available
If LoopInfo is available during GVN, BasicAA will use it.  However
MergeBlockIntoPredecessor does not update LI as it merges blocks.

This didn't use to cause problems because LI was freed before
GVN/BasicAA.  Now with OptimizationRemarkEmitter, the lifetime of LI is
extended so LI needs to be kept up-to-date during GVN.

c222d94c24 [LoopUnroll] Implement profile-based loop peeling
This implements PGO-driven loop peeling.

The basic idea is that when the average dynamic trip-count of a loop is known,
based on PGO, to be low, we can expect a performance win by peeling off the
first several iterations of that loop.
Unlike unrolling based on a known trip count, or a trip count multiple, this
doesn't save us the conditional check and branch on each iteration. However,
it does allow us to simplify the straight-line code we get (constant-folding,
etc.). This is important given that we know that we will usually only hit this
code, and not the actual loop.

This is currently disabled by default.

dad102bcc9 [PM] Change the static object whose address is used to uniquely identify
analyses to have a common type which is enforced rather than using
a char object and a `void *` type when used as an identifier.

This has a number of advantages. First, it at least helps some of the
confusion raised in Justin Lebar's code review of why `void *` was being
used everywhere by having a stronger type that connects to documentation
about this.

However, perhaps more importantly, it addresses a serious issue where
the alignment of these pointer-like identifiers was unknown. This made
it hard to use them in pointer-like data structures. We were already
dodging this in dangerous ways to create the "all analyses" entry. In
a subsequent patch I attempted to use these with TinyPtrVector and
things fell apart in a very bad way.

And it isn't just a compile time or type system issue. Worse than that,
the actual alignment of these pointer-like opaque identifiers wasn't
guaranteed to be a useful alignment as they were just characters.

This change introduces a type to use as the "key" object whose address
forms the opaque identifier. This both forces the objects to have proper
alignment, and provides type checking that we get it right everywhere.
It also makes the types somewhat less mysterious than `void *`.

We could go one step further and introduce a truly opaque pointer-like
type to return from the `ID()` static function rather than returning
`AnalysisKey *`, but that didn't seem to be a clear win so this is just
the initial change to get to a reliably typed and aligned object serving
is a key for all the analyses.

Thanks to Richard Smith and Justin Lebar for helping pick plausible
names and avoid making this refactoring many times. =] And thanks to
Sean for the super fast review!

While here, I've tried to move away from the "PassID" nomenclature
entirely as it wasn't really helping and is overloaded with old pass
manager constructs. Now we have IDs for analyses, and key objects whose
address can be used as IDs. Where possible and clear I've shortened this
to just "ID". In a few places I kept "AnalysisID" to make it clear what
was being identified.

84d15a6c72 [InstrProfiling] Mark __llvm_profile_instrument_target last parameter as i32 zeroext if appropriate.
On some architectures (s390x, ppc64, sparc64, mips), C-level int is passed
as i32 signext instead of plain i32.  Likewise, unsigned int may be passed
as i32, i32 signext, or i32 zeroext depending on the platform.  Mark
__llvm_profile_instrument_target properly (its last parameter is unsigned
int).

This (together with the clang change) makes compiler-rt profile testsuite pass
on s390x.

63de4725df Use profile info to adjust loop unroll threshold.
Summary:
For flat loop, even if it is hot, it is not a good idea to unroll in runtime, thus we set a lower partial unroll threshold.
For hot loop, we set a higher unroll threshold and allows expensive tripcount computation to allow more aggressive unrolling.

06fe9815da [tsan] Add support for C++ exceptions into TSan (call __tsan_func_exit during unwinding), LLVM part
This adds support for TSan C++ exception handling, where we need to add extra calls to __tsan_func_exit when a function is exitted via exception mechanisms. Otherwise the shadow stack gets corrupted (leaked). This patch moves and enhances the existing implementation of EscapeEnumerator that finds all possible function exit points, and adds extra EH cleanup blocks where needed.

8bab9d126f Make the FunctionComparator of the MergeFunctions pass a stand-alone utility.
This is pure refactoring. NFC.

This change moves the FunctionComparator (together with the GlobalNumberState
utility) in to a separate file so that it can be used by other passes.
For example, the SwiftMergeFunctions pass in the Swift compiler:

Details of the change:

*) The big part is just moving code out of MergeFunctions.cpp into FunctionComparator.h/cpp
*) Make FunctionComparator member functions protected (instead of private)
   so that a derived comparator class can use them.

Following refactoring helps to share code between the base FunctionComparator
class and a derived class:

*) Add a beginCompare() function
*) Move some basic function property comparisons into a separate function compareSignature()
*) Do the GEP comparison inside cmpOperations() which now has a new
   needToCmpOperands reference parameter

81c02096c5 [JumpThreading] Unfold selects that depend on the same condition
Summary:
These are good candidates for jump threading. This enables later opts
(such as InstCombine) to combine instructions from the selects with
instructions out of the selects. SimplifyCFG will fold the select
again if unfolding wasn't worth it.

f9a3ecf57f [Reassociate] Skip analysis of dead code to avoid infinite loop.
Summary:
It was detected that the reassociate pass could enter an inifite
loop when analysing dead code. Simply skipping to analyse basic
blocks that are dead avoids such problems (and as a side effect
we avoid spending time on optimising dead code).

The solution is using the same Reverse Post Order ordering of the
basic blocks when doing the optimisations, as when building the
precalculated rank map. A nice side-effect of this solution is
that we now know that we only try to do optimisations for blocks
with ranked instructions.
