a5ef2286b3 MC: create X86WinCOFFStreamer for target specific behaviour
This introduces a target specific streamer, X86WinCOFFStreamer, which handles
the target specific behaviour (e.g. WinEH). This is mostly to ensure that
differences between ARM and X86 remain disjoint and do not accidentally cross
boundaries. This is the final staging change for enabling object emission for
Windows on ARM.

10443ee9e4 X86: convert object streamer selection to a switch
Change the object streamer selection to a switch from a series of if conditions.
Rather than defaulting to ELF, require that an ELF format is requested. The
Windows/!ELF is maintained as MachO would have been selected first and will
still provide a MachO format. Add an assertion that if COFF is requested that
the target platform is Windows as only WinCOFF object emission is currently
supported.

72185824a4 [cleanup] Lift using directives, DEBUG_TYPE definitions, and even some
system headers above the includes of generated '.inc' files that
actually contain code. In a few targets this was already done pretty
consistently, but it wasn't done *really* consistently anywhere. It is
strictly cleaner IMO and necessary in a bunch of places where the
DEBUG_TYPE is referenced from the generated code. Consistency with the
necessary places trumps. Hopefully the build bots are OK with the
movement of intrin.h...

5a37407a86 X86: Split the relocation selection up
Before, we would have conditional operators where one side of the
operator would be of type RelocationTypeAMD64 and the other is of type
RelocationTypeI386. GCC would noisly warn with -Wenum-compare
diagnostic.

Instead, refactor the code so it is more like the X86 ELF object writer.

0b8859a3e5 Completely rewrite ELFObjectWriter::RecordRelocation.
I started trying to fix a small issue, but this code has seen a small fix too
many.

The old code was fairly convoluted. Some of the issues it had:

* It failed to check if a symbol difference was in the some section when
  converting a relocation to pcrel.
* It failed to check if the relocation was already pcrel.
* The pcrel value computation was wrong in some cases (relocation-pc.s)
* It was missing quiet a few cases where it should not convert symbol
relocations to section relocations, leaving the backends to patch it up.
* It would not propagate the fact that it had changed a relocation to pcrel,
requiring a quiet nasty work around in ARM.
* It was missing comments.

9eed3f671f Look through variables when computing relocations.
Given

bar = foo + 4
	.long bar

MC would eat the 4. GNU as includes it in the relocation. The rule seems to be
that a variable that defines a symbol is used in the relocation and one that
does not define a symbol is evaluated and the result included in the relocation.

Fixing this unfortunately required some other changes:

* Since the variable is now evaluated, it would prevent the ELF writer from
noticing the weakref marker the elf streamer uses. This patch then replaces
that with a VariantKind in MCSymbolRefExpr.

* Using VariantKind then requires us to look past other VariantKind to see

	.weakref	bar,foo
	call	bar@PLT

  doing this also fixes

	zed = foo +2
	call zed@PLT

so that is a good thing.

* Looking past VariantKind means that the relocation selection has to use
the fixup instead of the target.

This is a reboot of the previous fixes for MC. I will watch the sanitizer
buildbot and wait for a build before adding back the previous fixes.

d9e77d0e39 Simplify a really complicated check for Arch == X86_64.
The function hasReliableSymbolDifference had exactly one use in the MachO
writer. It is also only true for X86_64. In fact, the comments refers to
"Darwin x86_64" and everything else, so this makes the code match the
comment.

If this is to be abstracted again, it should be a property of
TargetObjectWriter, like useAggressiveSymbolFolding.

95baea0ae3 Support: split object format out of environment
This is a preliminary setup change to support a renaming of Windows target
triples. Split the object file format information out of the environment into a
separate entity. Unfortunately, file format was previously treated as an
environment with an unknown OS. This is most obvious in the ARM subtarget where
the handling for macho on an arbitrary platform switches to AAPCS rather than
APCS (as per Apple's needs).

7a3a160940 Re-commit: Demote EmitRawText call in AsmPrinter::EmitInlineAsm() and remove hasRawTextSupport() call
Summary:
AsmPrinter::EmitInlineAsm() will no longer use the EmitRawText() call for
targets with mature MC support. Such targets will always parse the inline
assembly (even when emitting assembly). Targets without mature MC support
continue to use EmitRawText() for assembly output.

The hasRawTextSupport() check in AsmPrinter::EmitInlineAsm() has been replaced
with MCAsmInfo::UseIntegratedAs which when true, causes the integrated assembler
to parse inline assembly (even when emitting assembly output). UseIntegratedAs
is set to true for targets that consider any failure to parse valid assembly
to be a bug. Target specific subclasses generally enable the integrated
assembler in their constructor. The default value can be overridden with
-no-integrated-as.

All tests that rely on inline assembly supporting invalid assembly (for example,
those that use mnemonics such as 'foo' or 'hello world') have been updated to
disable the integrated assembler.

Changes since review (and last commit attempt):
- Fixed test failures that were missed due to configuration of local build.
(fixes crash.ll and a couple others).
- Fixed tests that happened to pass because the local build was on X86
  (should fix 2007-12-17-InvokeAsm.ll)
- mature-mc-support.ll's should no longer require all targets to be compiled.
(should fix ARM and PPC buildbots)
- Object output (-filetype=obj and similar) now forces the integrated assembler
to be enabled regardless of default setting or -no-integrated-as.
  (should fix SystemZ buildbots)

b12f4f168f doesSectionRequireSymbols is meaningless on ELF, remove.
This is a nop. doesSectionRequireSymbols is only used from
isSymbolLinkerVisible. isSymbolLinkerVisible only use from ELF was in

if (!Asm.isSymbolLinkerVisible(Symbol) && !Symbol.isUndefined())
  return false;

if (Symbol.isTemporary())
  return false;

If the symbol is a temporary this code returns false and it is irrelevant if
we take the first if or not. If the symbol is not a temporary,
Asm.isSymbolLinkerVisible returns true without ever calling
doesSectionRequireSymbols.

This was an horrible leftover from when support for ELF was first added.

99b3d76928 [patch] Adjust behavior of FDE cross-section relocs for targets that don't support abs-differences.
Modern versions of OSX/Darwin's ld (ld64 > 97.17) have an optimisation present that allows the back end to omit relocations (and replace them with an absolute difference) for FDE some text section refs.

This patch allows a backend to opt-in to this behaviour by setting "DwarfFDESymbolsUseAbsDiff". At present, this is only enabled for modern x86 OSX ports.

e0e3fee19b ARM MachO: sort out isTargetDarwin/isTargetIOS/... checks.
The ARM backend has been using most of the MachO related subtarget
checks almost interchangeably, and since the only target it's had to
run on has been IOS (which is all three of MachO, Darwin and IOS) it's
worked out OK so far.

But we'd like to support embedded targets under the "*-*-none-macho"
triple, which means everything starts falling apart and inconsistent
behaviours emerge.

This patch should pick a reasonably sensible set of behaviours for the
new triple (and any others that come along, with luck). Some choices
were debatable (notably FP == r7 or r11), but we can revisit those
later when deficiencies become apparent.

79635848a9 Add OpSize16 bit, for instructions which need 0x66 prefix in 16-bit mode
The 0x66 prefix toggles between 16-bit and 32-bit addressing mode.
So in 32-bit mode it is used to switch to 16-bit addressing mode for the
following instruction, while in 16-bit mode it's the other way round — it's
used to switch to 32-bit mode instead.

Thus, emit the 0x66 prefix byte for OpSize only in 32-bit (and 64-bit) mode,
and introduce a new OpSize16 bit which is used in 16-bit mode instead.

This is just the basic infrastructure for that change; a subsequent patch
will add the new OpSize16 bit to the 32-bit instructions that need it.

eae6386a1e Make the llvm mangler depend only on DataLayout.
Before this patch any program that wanted to know the final symbol name of a
GlobalValue had to link with Target.

This patch implements a compromise solution where the mangler uses DataLayout.
This way, any tool that already links with Target (llc, clang) gets the exact
behavior as before and new IR files can be mangled without linking with Target.

With this patch the mangler is constructed with just a DataLayout and DataLayout
is extended to include the information the Mangler needs.

Where it would use a scattered relocation entry but falls back to a

The bug is in the X86MachObjectWriter::RecordScatteredRelocation() where
it changes reference parameter FixedValue but then returns false to indicate
it did not create a scattered relocation entry. The fix is simply to save the
original value of the parameter FixedValue at the start of the method and
restore it if we are returning false in that case.

c1a311233c MC asm parser: allow ?'s in symbol names, and handle @'s in names in MS asm
This is another (final?) stab at making us able to parse our own asm output
on Windows.

Symbols on Windows often contain @'s and ?'s in their names. Our asm parser
didn't like this. ?'s were not allowed, and @'s were intepreted as trying to
reference PLT/GOT/etc.

We can't just add quotes around the bad names, since e.g. for MinGW, we use gas
to assemble, and it doesn't like quotes in some places (notably in .def
directives).

This commit makes us allow ?'s in symbol names, and @'s in symbol names for MS
assembly.

2c532e9c9b Generate compact unwind encoding from CFI directives.
We used to generate the compact unwind encoding from the machine

generate the compact unwind encoding.

Move the algorithm that generates the compact unwind encoding into the
MCAsmBackend. This way we can generate the encoding whether the code is from a

6979d48fa4 Add MCSymbolizer for symbolic/annotated disassembly.
This is a basic first step towards symbolization of disassembled
instructions. This used to be done using externally provided (C API)
callbacks. This patch introduces:
- the MCSymbolizer class, that mimics the same functions that were used
in the X86 and ARM disassemblers to symbolize immediate operands and
to annotate loads based off PC (for things like c string literals).
- the MCExternalSymbolizer class, which implements the old C API.
- the MCRelocationInfo class, which provides a way for targets to
translate relocations (either object::RelocationRef, or disassembler
  C API VariantKinds) to MCExprs.
- the MCObjectSymbolizer class, which does symbolization using what it
finds in an object::ObjectFile. This makes simple symbolization (with
no fancy relocation stuff) work for all object formats!
- x86-64 Mach-O and ELF MCRelocationInfos.
- A basic ARM Mach-O MCRelocationInfo, that provides just enough to
  support the C API VariantKinds.

Most of what works in otool (the only user of the old symbolization API
that I know of) for x86-64 symbolic disassembly (-tvV) works, namely:
- symbol references: call _foo; jmp 15 <_foo+50>
- relocations: call _foo-_bar; call _foo-4
- __cf?string: leaq 193(%rip), %rax ## literal pool for "hello"
Stub support is the main missing part (because libObject doesn't know,
among other things, about mach-o indirect symbols).

As for the MCSymbolizer API, instead of relying on the disassemblers
to call the tryAdding* methods, maybe this could be done automagically
using InstrInfo? For instance, even though PC-relative LEAs are used
to get the address of string literals in a typical Mach-O file, a MOV
would be used in an ELF file. And right now, the explicit symbolization
only recognizes PC-relative LEAs. InstrInfo should have already have
most of what is needed to know what to symbolize, so this can
definitely be improved.

I'd also like to remove object::RelocationRef::getValueString (it seems
only used by relocation printing in objdump), as simply printing the
created MCExpr is definitely enough (and cleaner than string concats).

8e22855ea6 MC: Support COFF image-relative MCSymbolRefs
Add support for the COFF relocation types IMAGE_REL_I386_DIR32NB and
IMAGE_REL_AMD64_ADDR32NB for 32- and 64-bit respectively. These are
similar to normal 4-byte relocations except that they do not include
the base address of the image.

Image-relative relocations are used for debug information (32-bit) and
SEH unwind tables (64-bit).

A new MCSymbolRef variant called 'VK_COFF_IMGREL32' is introduced to
specify such relocations. For AT&T assembly, this variant can be accessed
using the symbol suffix '@imgrel'.

e37f7ab590 The current X86 NOP padding uses one long NOP followed by the remainder in
one-byte NOPs. If the processor actually executes those NOPs, as it sometimes
does with aligned bundling, this can have a performance impact. From my
micro-benchmarks run on my one machine, a 15-byte NOP followed by twelve
one-byte NOPs is about 20% worse than a 15 followed by a 12. This patch
changes NOP emission to emit as many 15-byte (the maximum) as possible followed
by at most one shorter NOP.

I have manually inspected all of these, and fixed the main module

(I strictly added headers, and reordered them, never removed), but they
may not be the headers you'd really like to identify as containing the
API being implemented.

Many forward declarations and missing includes were added to a header
files to allow them to parse cleanly when included first. The main

6f8cc37074 Remove 'static' from inline functions defined in header files.
There is a pretty staggering amount of this in LLVM's header files, this
is not all of the instances I'm afraid. These include all of the
functions that (in my build) are used by a non-static inline (or
external) function. Specifically, these issues were caught by the new
'-Winternal-linkage-in-inline' warning.

I'll try to just clean up the remainder of the clearly redundant "static
inline" cases on functions (not methods!) defined within headers if
I can do so in a reliable way.

There were even several cases of a missing 'inline' altogether, or my
personal favorite "static bool inline". Go figure. ;]

f7890e34b9 Rewrite the CMake build to use explicit dependencies between libraries,
specified in the same file that the library itself is created. This is
more idiomatic for CMake builds, and also allows us to correctly specify
dependencies that are missed due to bugs in the GenLibDeps perl script,
or change from compiler to compiler. On Linux, this returns CMake to
a place where it can relably rebuild several targets of LLVM.

I have tried not to change the dependencies from the ones in the current
auto-generated file. The only places I've really diverged are in places
where I was seeing link failures, and added a dependency. The goal of
this patch is not to start changing the dependencies, merely to move
them into the correct location, and an explicit form that we can control
and change when necessary.

This also removes a serialization point in the build because we don't
have to scan all the libraries before we begin building various tools.
We no longer have a step of the build that regenerates a file inside the
source tree. A few other associated cleanups fall out of this.

This isn't really finished yet though. After talking to dgregor he urged
switching to a single CMake macro to construct libraries with both
sources and dependencies in the arguments. Migrating from the two macros
to that style will be a follow-up patch.

Also, llvm-config is still generated with GenLibDeps.pl, which means it
still has slightly buggy dependencies. The internal CMake
'llvm-config-like' macro uses the correct explicitly specified
dependencies however. A future patch will switch llvm-config generation
(when using CMake) to be based on these deps as well.

This may well break Windows. I'm getting a machine set up now to dig
into any failures there. If anyone can chime in with problems they see
or ideas of how to solve them for Windows, much appreciated.

af4fae1c0f Explicitly declare a library dependency of LLVM*Desc to
LLVM*AsmPrinter.

GenLibDeps.pl fails to detect vtable references. As this is the only
referenced symbol from LLVM*Desc to LLVM*AsmPrinter on optimized
builds, the algorithm that creates the list of libraries to be linked
into tools doesn't know about the dependency and sometimes places the
libraries on the wrong order, yielding error messages like this:

../../lib/libLLVMARMDesc.a(ARMMCTargetDesc.cpp.o): In function
`llvm::ARMInstPrinter::ARMInstPrinter(llvm::MCAsmInfo const&)':
ARMMCTargetDesc.cpp:(.text._ZN4llvm14ARMInstPrinterC1ERKNS_9MCAsmInfoE

a571c5d5d3 Clean up a pile of hacks in our CMake build relating to TableGen.
The first problem to fix is to stop creating synthetic *Table_gen
targets next to all of the LLVM libraries. These had no real effect as
CMake specifies that add_custom_command(OUTPUT ...) directives (what the
'tablegen(...)' stuff expands to) are implicitly added as dependencies
to all the rules in that CMakeLists.txt.

These synthetic rules started to cause problems as we started more and
more heavily using tablegen files from *subdirectories* of the one where
they were generated. Within those directories, the set of tablegen
outputs was still available and so these synthetic rules added them as
dependencies of those subdirectories. However, they were no longer
properly associated with the custom command to generate them. Most of
the time this "just worked" because something would get to the parent
directory first, and run tablegen there. Once run, the files existed and
the build proceeded happily. However, as more and more subdirectories
have started using this, the probability of this failing to happen has
increased. Recently with the MC refactorings, it became quite common for
me when touching a large enough number of targets.

To add insult to injury, several of the backends *tried* to fix this by
adding explicit dependencies back to the parent directory's tablegen
rules, but those dependencies didn't work as expected -- they weren't
forming a linear chain, they were adding another thread in the race.

This patch removes these synthetic rules completely, and adds a much
simpler function to declare explicitly that a collection of tablegen'ed
files are referenced by other libraries. From that, we can add explicit
dependencies from the smaller libraries (such as every architectures
Desc library) on this and correctly form a linear sequence. All of the
backends are updated to use it, sometimes replacing the existing attempt
at adding a dependency, sometimes adding a previously missing dependency
edge.

Please let me know if this causes any problems, but it fixes a rather
persistent and problematic source of build flakiness on our end.
